Zbattle = True Online OG SF?

haha dude. likewise over here. i left your channel and some dude entered. he totally sucked. i went like 29-1. 29-1 as in a whole shit load of perfects and such. no close games. lol i cant believe i even played long. then he said he wanted it at a slower speed. i was like “wtf, you want to give more time to think about how i should beat your jumpin during your jump animation?” lol. so we play on slow speed anyway and the dude couldnt get a hit on me. then he was finally convinced that fast was better lol. fun times!

i got my ass SLAUGHTERED in MK II last night by some guy named “Jax-cheese”. :frowning: No lag though and had probably the most fun time playing a videogame online in AGES!!!

hi, i want some Zbattle gameplay, but it wont work:(

i know y, its cus of my router, which i just got, so could someone plz tell me how to access it so i can do stuff with the port and allow zbattle to work? thx in advance:)

nobody wants to play TMNT 4 with me. :frowning:

I’m all over that shit…I just played that a few nights ago in fact. Problem is the guy i played with had dialup and so do I, so there was some considerable lag.

Specifically identify the router that you have so that someone here can offer you some assistance. Or…you could always check out the Zbattle.net faqs and/or the Zbattle.net forums

untouchable: and like i told you i had directions on how to configure the router in this thread. do some searching

i played a nice game of SSF2 without too much lag and im on dial up

anyone know where else to get a psx to pc joystick adapter? one i have from hong kong don’t work no mo’ and this pad shit is starting to really piss me off. stopping me from having some real good fights with some good players.

Radio Shack is a good place to find them…the USB ones are kinda hard to find tho. I searched 4 different Radio Shacks before I finally found some.

nick: you said usb ones are hard to find, you mean there are gameport versions of the adapters too? cuz actually, that would be better. especially for zsnes. ive noticed over the years when using zsnes that gameport pads seem to work much better than usb pads… hmmm, so if there is, i want a gameport one heh

One thing i must say about zsnes that i hate is something i just realized why there is no lag upon playing it seems. I don’t know the real technical aspects of how it works but to me it seems that a way of saying it was to imagine p1 is in cali and p2 is in Virginia and the actual machine is smack in the middle of the country. Its hard to explain but say Virginia (looking at VIRGINIA’S SCREEN) knocks the opponent down and is going to do say a guile meaty low forward when they get up. And if Cali looking at CALI’S screen is knocked down and upon getting up is going to try and throw. if at a arcade machine the meaty low forward will win. But for some reason i think whoever has the least amount of lag to the central server?(middle of the country we’ll say) gets the win of it. so say cali’s is less then well magically my meaty low forward is shit and doesn’t count and even though i see it out and see it hit and hear it hit i’m suddenly thrown as if FUCK YOU kris your moves don’t count. Or i could be in the middle of a combo (or what i see is a combo on my screen) but suddenly i’m dp’ed out of it.(not talking about fucking up the timing of the combo, a TRUE combo.) then again maybe its just the Snes port problem of the game i’m not sure. been way too long to recall. I mean for most part game is fun but shit like that urks me. Now if i could only get a fuckin stick.

max: yeah man that is really common when you got a player that is really lagged, usually 56k players. like i would be playing, i hit the dude with a sonic boom, showed the hit animation and everything, then it showed the opponent jumping in the air and the sonic boom reappears behind him as if he originally jumped over it. its like the game changes its mind lol. i usually only have that problem with lagged people. but when you play someone on a consistent connection, it doesnt really seem to be much of an issue. while it feels 100% lagless, some things may not work correctly like it should, like a meaty as you said. which doesnt seem to do that much when connections are good. so i rather take that over lagless play anyday. thats for sure. heh

Taken from forums.newcon.org(zbattle forums)

And here is a great thread about the “lag/mame” topic

http://www.kaillera.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3444

it may be a direct connect. yeah that decreases lag since theres less destinations that packets have to travel in a round trip. but that only decreases lag very minimally. its a lot more complex than that. its like what me and maxtah were just talking about. it has to do with like anticipation or something cuz when you play someone that has a laggy connection, shit happens that shouldnt happen. i cant really explain it. it just seems like superb netcode.

i play plenty of direct connect shitover the internet and still have noticeable lag. plus even if you eliminate a central server on kaillera, the lag is still atrocious. you can setup a private server on a lan and play with someone using kaillera and it still sucks. massive breaking up in gameplay and even when the game runs smooth, it still lags like a bitch on controls. kaillera is just shitty network code. no offense to the authors, they did well. props to them definitely. but the code is really weak. zsnes network code is crazy good. and isnt zsnes source code available? couldnt someone examine the source code to snag the netcode and implement it into ither emus? i wouldnt see why not… the question is tho wether anyone is willing to do that or even take notice how incredible the netcode is.

wishful thinking i guess

The real issue lies with the fact that not everyone is an avid fighting game fan. Hoping that the individual(s) who coded Mame, Kawaks, etc. will make a better version that has netplay inherently, is simply that, “hoping.” To them, online play might not be a really big deal. And when you factor in Kalliera’s existence, they might feel that is merely enough. If I only play games like TMNT or Raiden Trad, truth be told, Kalliera is definitely barable, if not great altogether. Everyone that is desiring an arcade emu with Netplay needs to locate someone that:

A) Is an avid fighting game fan
B) Is extremely knowledgeable about programming and coding
C) Has the time to spare for such a project

As you all can clearly see, that is a lot of hypotheticals. But then again, hoping never hurt anyone.

On a side note, has anyone followed up on Neoken’s post about playing Virtual-On online for DC via peer-2-peer? The ramifications of that could be enormous. Needless to say, I would love to see PS2 games peer-2-peer. Can someone say, HSF2 online!

agreed.

as for the virtual on for dc and hypersf2 ps2. the game has to have netcode for that to work. virtual on does have netplay. im sure hypersf2 does not. but other than that, i am very curious as to what neoken posted. it sounds interesting. mvc2 online play for the marvel junkies, 3s play, cvs2 play that has rc and no eo garbage haha. and other games. sounds tooooooo good

Scott: Yeah man, seemed like every Radio Shack I went into had the PSX to Gameport adapter when I wanted the USB kind. I’m wondering if a majority of my lag is caused by the adapter…I’ll have to play on keyboard and see if it there’s a difference. Bleh, keyboard…::shudder::

well adapters, usually cause a little lag even in an offline game, since the signal has to be converted and at the same time, has to travel a longer distance. some adapters make it so minimal that its extremely hard to notice. i would honestly thing a ps2 to gameport adapter would be better IMO. i like gameport pads much better. better compatibility rates, especially with emulators…

Sabr3: Those directions dont help me:(

cus i know nothing about routors or the configue, so i dont even know how to “Log Into it” :frowning:

can u explain over aim one of these days plz when u have time?
