He thinks Lariat is good because his DP whiffs… lol
HAHAHAAHA wow… worst player indeed. I don’t even know how he can show his face around here anymore after that. Full screen whiff DPs, half screen random ultras. Mashing DPs one after another. Priceless.
im a chun li player looking for a good gief to spar with
Wow…what a terrible players. How humiliating, I would hate to have a video like that crawl up from the depths on me. Thats like something I wouldn’t even come around here anymore after people seeing. Ken, wow…I already thought he was at his worst in this game. You should try the flowchart.
I do want to point out though that this isn’t the well known jabhadouken who posts regularly on SRK; this is some mega-scrub that calls himself jabhadoukenSRK. I loved those wakeup fireballs when Viper was primed at the perfect distance for HP seismo, the ex-hadouken was priceless.
Hey guys, newb gief player here… and i have what is probably a pretty simple question… Anti air lariat… What is the timing on this for jump ins? Which one should i be using PPP or KKK? I seem to always get kicked right in the head, but when i play good gief’s they always hit me out of the air, lol i dunno what i’m doing wrong here… pretty frustrating tho. hehe.
Also, on the comb c.lp x3, s.lk xx EX Green hand i have a hard time getting the green hand to come out, is there some trick to it?
Anyways sorry for the scrubby questions, but much appreciated if i could get some help.
PPP for anti-air. ducking then using PPP lariat increases chance for success. top of the head is where you are vulnerable.
Ahhh okay cool, thanks for the info. Heheh won a few matches online lol… I think the hardest thing to get use to is how slow he is, like walking in jello or something. heh.
Great write up bro, great write up. Only thing left to do is add some of you Gief’s and let’s have some fun
just a thought on vs. Honda.
i think it is very important to remember that Honda is a close distance fighter.
he has headbutt, but light’s range is short, and m n’ H hb is not safe on block. only ex but he needs ex meter for reliable anti-air.
if you can bait out ex hb with neu jump or something, its good.
i usually start by walk back and get some ex meter with lariat, so when stupid enough honda do m or h hb, you can punish.
honda’s neu jump HP is nothing if you just stay far away. just sit back and watch him.
if you have meter, time it right and ex gh before he lands.
good players don’t do it from far and won’t repeat it.
hard one is to beat is the one he does in close distance cuz all you can do is block usually.
aa ex spd and c.mk wiff into ultra are possible if you are close enough.
i could really use some good honda match vid or something cuz i’m really not good against honda.
i like to see veg-x’s chun vid also. i’m terrible at that match.
so what i like to know is what have you learned strategy wise against big_marcus aka ihatepa, bp? or veg-x for that matter as well.
Hey Zangief4life, I would suggest hitting up personal judas on xbl he is a nasty Honda and I feel knows the match-up as well as anyone online.
Vs ihatepa “a really good dictator” the most important thing is to stay out of the corner it’s worth getting hit a few times trying to get out because in the corner he’s going to kill u slowly. Other than that my gameplan vs him is a work in progress and I don’t think he’s bringing his A game when I beat him in casuals. But you can headbut devils reverse or dash back spd head stomp on non wake up. I would also like to hear other peoples ideas on dealing with a bision that uses mainly lk scissor to back you into a corner.
well mainly i use s mp if he gets a lil too close or keeps tryn to pressure with lk sk as it usually stuffs it, kkk lariat here and there on psychic reactions can help too
but as a general rule of thumb, if he is continually hitting u with a sk lk and not backdashing if he is within spd range, surprise him with a jab spd, which will force him to rethink his distances and if he hits it a lil deep, he will most likely backdash which is where u surprise him with a lp gh into ultra or tick with c lk after the gh
s lp is a great footsies vs bison as it can beat out his s mk
just headbutt whenever u see a bison do a hs/dr animation towards u, as if its a dr it will most likely reach u when u land, allowin u to block or even in some cases fa absorb and punish, but the timing of the headbutt needs to be done earlier onc eu see it and not deep otherwise a misjudgement on a seemingly HS move that is really a DR will hit u on the way to the ground
bp who do you know is a good chun player? i assume “personal juda” you get good connection with.
also ken, blanka, dalsim that are very good, all of which we don’t find in chi.
not getting cornered is obvious. its same with EVERY characters.
you want to make bison into corner instead, but not rushing him once he is in corner.
if you do get too close all the time, its rather ez for bison to get out of corner.
so keeping some distance is good. and in corner, there are much more risk in devils revers n such because now you can punish with ex gh.
i tend to tick throw way too much and marcus knows, so i play no-tickthrow-at-all game and get him when he try to jump between my c.lk block strings.
i do keep c.lk links even on block conform because ppl always wanna get the hell out and get hit on last lk then ex gh.
if i see ppl learning not to jump on those, then i can tick throw. but this won’t work on marcus. he go right back to jumping cuz chances are better this way for him, dmg wise.
If you are looking for a Honda vid my replay on xbl is of me winning a GS champ vs the top CP Honda on live I think it’s at about 70th. Kind of a garbage win but you might be able to see some of my tricks from it. Also you can aa lariet neu hands if he does it too close to u.
I know a bunch of good blankas and I can see about chun’s and sim. I will let you know.
i haven’t found much use for zangief’s overhead., i know you can combo into from a cr.lp but is it worth for mix up options. i mean i don’t know what type of link it is but that shit does seem to have
a small window to perform. does anyone know if it’s a two frame link, one frame and if so is it worth it to try and go for it?
gief doesnt have an over head…
are you talking about close standing strong?! no… it isnt worth it…
if you want more damage and a bit more difficulty… do jab, jab, strong stand, short exgreenhand…
oh i thought that was his overhead lol. The c.st mp looks like an overhead so, that’s why i said that. yeah, i know about that combo, i wasn’t looking for more difficulty, i was looking for new ways to mix up people into combos and what not but i guess i have to keep it basic. :-c
Well, it’s pretty much time to put this thread to rest. I know most people don’t have the game yet, but everyone will have it within just a few days. After this weekend, almost no one will play Street Fighter IV ever again. With that in mind, it’s time to review SF4 Zangief. I think the best way to do that is to repost my matchup ratings over the last 1.5 years and then give a final set of ratings to close him out.

i would love to see jans and vegita x opinion on this chart since they highest level giefs in the US so, yeah.
I have an issue when i vs Bison and Chun Li, when they spam heavy kick and medium kick and keavy punch, I just can get close and it seems I can’t out poke them.
How to I go around this problem?
