Yes, I don’t think it was changed. Keep in mind that it only works on taller characters and is really hard on some.
I don’t know if I should ask this here but i wanted to know does seth beat gief??? if not who does???
Seth is one of Gief’s hardest matchups. Along with Sagat and Juri. Previously, Akuma, Chun, Rose, and Dhalsim have always done well also but Gief’s recent buffs have kind of helped out along with Akuma’s nerfs.
seth it is i mean i gotta get used 2 him i’m only tryna counter pick because rufus loses badly to gief & i wanted 2 have a counter character for when i fight them in tournaments gotta hit the lab & come up with sum things for seth thanks though man
Yeah, Seth is really strong in 2012 also, good pocket character to have.
I used to think that the Zangief match up got slightly better but then I discovered the joys of the new fst.MK and his old fst.MP. The teleport buff, stun buff and health buff help a lot too.
Zangief cannot play mind games with U2 when Seth has meter, which he will always get. Zangief cannot play footsies with Seth because fst.MP and fst.MK, as well as Tanden, just completely ruin his day. Zangief cannot even turtle full screen with perfect lariats as he will give up screen estate and end up getting punished for every attempt. Even if Zangief gets in, Seth does pretty well in this area too. Can push Zangief out into a range he isn’t comfortable in and can frame trap him if he feels like it. In addition, if Seth has three bars. Zangief’s options are really limited. If Seth scores a grab, he can either run away again or mix Zangief up fairly well.
Quite literally the only reason this isn’t 9-1 is because human error exists. Unfortunately for Zangief players, this is the only thing they can rely on. Seth player has make a mistakes and then you have to guess which escape option he’ll choose (if any.) You can try to get something going when Seth doesn’t have two bars by reading a Sonic Boom, but even then…Seth’s going to get meter and he gets a chance to get out. I dunno, I get bodied by Zangief pretty often…but I think this really might be worse than Sagat for Zangief.
hey guys, I’m new to the Zangief board. Has anybody put out any content (video) exploring what all the Running Bear Grab can do? I’d like to see if that move secretly has some previously unseen potential. Safe Jumps, with Option Select Running Bear Grab (that kind of thing).
Running Bear Grab is terrible. You really shouldn’t ever do it. The only situations it is useful for are on reaction to things like Chun Li’s Flip Kick, against Meaties, and to armor cancel super.

Desk also does a tutorial on it. Look it up on his channel
can I get exact inputs how to do standing 720?
How do I jump in on Evil Ryu and Ryu’s? And how do I beat Shoryuken mashers if I want to go offense with knockdown?
I wouldn’t recommend jumping in on anyone with a SRK.
Bait the srk.
Knees aimed at the back of their head beats Reversal DP.
You should only try and anticipate a fireball and jump. Never jump in randomly.

Couple of simple questions: What’s the best motion for a walk up SPD? Opponents that do nothing but hold back-down are pretty annoying.
Secondly, what are the best applications for the splash? I use it after a knockdown and I’m wondering if there’s anywhere else it could be useful.
stop trolling idiot
-
Walk spd is chicken wing input. So back to up forward.
-
Splash is good for cross ups and air trades that’s about it.
Ehhhhm, I’m not trolling, that’s the input, although u can start from down back and end up forward, done it twice but its pretty hard.
And calling me an idiot was immature and uncalled for
I apologize for my retarded answer.
I dont really see how it is possible to perform that input without jumping. Are you sure you understood my answer correctly?
Yeah I’m sure, the thing with standing 720 is that u have till the 4th jumpin frame to be considered airborne, if u watch desk do it zangief will be at the startup of his jump, but its pretty hard, I prefer to buffer into cJab or inside a forward dash or taunt.
6th Frame. And that input is actually the most economical but only really possible on hitbox. Check the hitbox 720 tutorial if you are interested.
