Siberian Express is garbage. This is a game about footsies and that slowass move is punished too easily. For it to be somewhat viable it needs to be far faster and/or have armor by default. Running Bear Grab was useful in HD Remix, but this is trash. There’s little to no use for it. If you land it, cool, you got some damage and stun, but it’s nothing great when compared to the safe hit confirm combos belonging to the rest of the cast. Some might argue that we get automatic damage from one move, but when you’re at a high level of play that damage is basically guaranteed anyway if you don’t fail your combo.

The only time it is 100% safe to use RBG is when you have the opponent stunned and you want some corner carry. Every other time you have a great chance of being blown up for using it. It is an awful special move.

Actually Lariat anti-air is not that bad as most people think about
The only limit of lariat anti-air is that you really need good reaction to execute early and cant throw it out at last moment (like SFIV) otherwise you get stuffed

In SFIV lariat anti-air often trade with opponents
While a successful early lariat anti-air now does not trade with opponent usually, I often get I clean hit on it.

It only does not good against cammy’s dive, I suggest to use c.hp against cammy instead.

The setup V-trigger>f.mk>headbutt hit confirm ca is extremely deadly against opponent who loves jump whole day, especially against anyone without uppercut, this set up is deadly as hell.

The regular version has no utility at mid to high level play. Right now, Zangief is playing with one less non EX special. I don’t think the United Nations recognises regular Sibberian Express as a special move. I don’t blame them, cause this train is leaving the station.

They need to make it viable on its own merit. Suggestions could be: [list]
[] A fake that resembles the start up of Sibberian Express, forcing them to react. Eg. F, D, B + Taunt

] Armour on the regular version, although considered way too powerful
[] Chargable like Abel’s Breathless

] Cancellable
[] Reduced startup

] Increased speed or increased grab range to connect after crush counter Standing HP, or the ability to cancel into this from Standing HP

I have had good success with the EX version as an anti-air.

c.lp slk cancel RBG/clp slk>jump>air grab guessing game also provide great pressure to opponent.
It is almost impossible to jump away LRBG by reaction but only by guessing in close range
I know air grab is extremely hard to use but I think 220dmg for a HASPD is quite decent.

Air SPD is the most difficult part for gief player to master, even SnakeEyez don’t use air grab usually.
SFV system accept us to perform 360/720 and then press punch very lately
For example, it allows us to perform jabs/f.mk (buffing 720 in while)>walk for a while>CA
Same theory, 412369 (keyboard direction)>(long delay)>punch into air grab works; in order to confirm opponent jumps and than grab him out
Everyone knows that 412369+p can perform air grab but not every one aware you can actually delay your punch button quite a long while.

This is hard to learn, but I think it is deadly once you master it.

Everyone talks about them taking away combo exspd. I really miss cc off of cr.hp
That anti air was awesome as you always got a follow up, I don’t know why they took that away.

Dont forget to use ur vskill as countering opponents meatly attacks during wake up, it works
And remember the vskill punch can combo into v trigger :smiley:

I only use Zangief but I have thought about using Necali and definitely Alex.

I’ll probably drop Gief when Guile comes out. Until then Gief is the only character I like or can even play. To hell with picking up a top tier character or something lame like Ken or Ryu.

Even a top player can’t make a character magically better. A top player will maximize what a character can do, but if a character is truly bad even top players can’t make them work.

It’s very rare in fighting games that a character is so bad that they have absolutely nothing. It’s just some characters have more to work with or are simply easier to use.

63214789 then slightly delay the punch button to get the instant air spd. If you press punch too fast you’ll just get a regular SPD

I just use 412369 slight delay ppp

I use 963214p that way I don’t have to delay.

Combo ex spd taken away is ok. It would be too tempting to use that over and over and we’d have no reason to ever use the CA. Why would you? You’d be able to combine a SPD from almost anything once you have bar. 3 chances at 300 dmg is way, waay better than one chance at 400 something dmg.

But at least it should be hit invincible, or do more damage than fierce spd, or activate faster. At least it is grab invincible which is something the spd struggles with, because it activates so slowly. And the range is between LP SPD and MP SPD

Does anybody know if you are left with any frame advantage after AAing with cHP? I feel I trade too much after that.

I tested in training mode, many character I tried also can hit them crouching with my S.HK during they wake up
However, it whiffs if opponents doing crouching jabs accurately at the moment they just wake up.
But I will still use S.HK in some certain situation, for example:

1)After H.SPD
2)After my headbutt>s.lk>ppp combo

Opponent are too far away for regular meatly headbutt pressure.
Instead, I will use S.HK/exSPD guessing game after above 2 situations.

Gief vs nash is a unfair matchup
I have totally no idea what should i do against nash :frowning:

If any of u guys run into a Gief player named Draft718 don’t even bother playing him. He rq on me twice today smh. Why do these fucks even play the game?

They’re playing the wrong character if they rage quit for every loss lol.

I don’t know why you guys are still playing…gief issues aside I got ragequitted on twice while they were being piledriven due to the long animation.

Between ragequits, spotty online, bs survival, and of course, the character who is my reason for even liking street fighter being a hollow shell of himself, I can honestly say I haven’t had any fun at all with this game.

Unless some crazy tech comes out or a patch happens I might be done for good. Never thought I’d say that after 25 years of playing street fighter games, but I’m getting way too angry.
