This is the greatest thread I’ve ever seen. Thank you.
I’ve tested jab os down-towards sweep on every character’s wake up in SSF4 AE 2012. Maybe someone will find this info useful
os d-t sweep works on:
Ryu, Ken, Honda, Dudley, Gouken, Akuma, Dan, Sakura, Oni
Yun, Juri, Abel, Bipson, Sagat, DeeJay, Cody, Guy, Hakan (unoiled only)
Guile, Zangief, Rufus, T.Hawk
os d-t sweep doesn’t work:
everybody else
NOTE: I’ve recorded this os on Ken (standart wake up), so this info may not be 100% correct. But nobody was able to jump out of my meaty jab, so this is probably pretty acurate. Nobody except Blanka! His wake up is so slow that my first jab whiffed. But I’ve tested it on him with different timing - os still doesn’t work it seems.
You’re doing it wrong. I can do it and it works just fine.
Option selects vs. Cornered Fei Long and Blanka(proabably others too)
c.lp ~Lariat~ c.lp – What happens?
If block blockstring c.lp c.lp, if hit hitstring c.lp c.lp
vs. Fei Long
Backdash - Lariat
EX-Chickenwing - Lariat
Uppercut - Connects.
vs. Blanka
Backdash - Lariat
Rainbow ball - Lariat(which connects)
Upball - Connects.
THANKS, I’ve always had trouble in the blanka matchup and this will help a lot.
Sorry, but which lariat is this? PPP?
I’m guessing PPP for the upper body invincibility.
But it probably doesn’t matter, and here’s why.
Fei’s EX Flying Kick (EX Chicken Wing) starts up in 18 frames, hit invincible for the first 12 frames. So just have to hit him, during these 5 vulnerable frames, before he hits you.
Zangief’s cr.lp is in total 13 frames (from startup to end of recovery). So you can tag him with PPP or KKK both with 4 frames of startup. Although, PPP will have the BETTER hitbox to deal with upper body attacks. ie. Chicken Wing. Although its not an issue with KKK if you vary the meaty timing of the cr.lp, performed a bit earlier
Now Fei’s back dash. In total is 26 frames. Frames 1-8 are invincible. Airborne frames after the invincible frames doesn’t matter, cause PPP or KKK will handle those anyhow.
Damages PPP does 120 or 140 and KKK does 110 or 130 - depending if you hit with the midsection or the outstretched arms. Although with KKK you have the chance to juggle with ONE hit of EXGH, depending on KKK spin timing and opponent height. But from memory its not a strict timing.
Hey Evansgambit, just wanted to say thanks for providing so much valuable information on all of your threads. You seem very knowledgeable about Gief! You seem very willing to help everyone improve, and that’s a great thing for this forum! Thanks again
Thanks Aquasilk. Watched all your streams. You probably too have work commitments also, but one hell of a Gief to show for it. I like your style of SPD and creative use of Ultra 2. There’s a lot of great tech you use, which I hope to incorporate someday. Whiff Throw and whiff cr. mk into Ultra 2. It’s great, cause you can take 30% if they happen to jump. Plus cr.mk has always been a notorious SPD setup Or do you use it because its a complete Ultra 2 buffer, without committing to jumping? Your block string: far.mp, far.hk. far cr.hk is unique - never seen it before, gives opponents something to think about.
How does snake do those on reaction cr.lp to ex hand. <div>I know he buffers but is he buffering from df lp or db lp.</div><div>I play on stick and doing it that fast from db seems impossible. </div>
I’ve seen Snake Eyez do low jab (I think OS?) jab green hand on wake opponents to either start a meaty chain or green hand back dashes. Is this a true OS or is this Snake having super fast reactions? If it’s a true OS, what are the inputs to execute this?
It’s an os but it’s not an easy one to do. I’ve been having some trouble learning it myself.
Not sure, if he’s doing it on reaction, or as prediction. Could be both.
use the shoryuken shortcut. DF, DF
On stick, tap the DF corner twice, while pressing LP with the first DF, and hold MP+HP with the second DF.
so learn, DF+ lp, DF + MP+HP will get you cr.lp xx EXGH. Time the MP+HP during the recovery of the cr.lp, so you hide the EXGH.
Then, there are multiple ways to do it. Depending on your mobility and whether you want to buffer DB block in the command. You have ample time to make the cancel, when the cr.lp makes connect.
- F, DB + LP, DF + MP + HP
- F, DF + LP, DF + MP + HP
It is an os
Im having troubles understanding OS. I mean, i managed to get the most basic one i think (the lp into greenhand to hit whiffs/backdashes), but the rest of the OS seems pretty difficult to me to understand. We really need a longass video on youtube (updated not about vanilla sf4) regarding OS. I could totally do it if someone explain the OS’s to me in like online training or something like that. I need to know for example, what am i doing wrong with the lp crocuh HK OS (to catch some backdashes). If someone can help me add me on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/simplyanonymous
If you help me ill give you the credits on the video. I feel like i really need to step up my game. I get outfootsied very badly and i think i can fix that implementing OSs. Thanks
Actually, when you think about it. For whiff punishing, there’s a blurr between buffering and o/s - with the distinctive up to the user’s style of input. I’ve heard it both ways. For pro-active, where you don’t really know, or don’t have time to know, that I’ll pay it off as o/s
cr. LP > cr. LK + OS Banishing Flat video
It’s easier than cr. LP > cr. LP + OS Banishing flat tbh
wow. ramma. that is your crew. Blockstring
Thanks for that, I’m now able to do it like 80% of the times I attempt it. Will be 100% soon.
