Zangief Combos

as fast as possible

I guess these don’t work for Level 1/2 FA crumples?

What are the best combos out of Level 1/2 FA crumples?

They work for any crumples, I just put level 3 fa because it’s the most damaging.

man ive been playing gief since i started the game. i can do everything with him, flat into ultra, sa into ultra, dash into ultra… whatever… i just cant get that combo down man, ive tried it for like 3 months and havent been able to get it… ive seen all the tips, done it as fast as i can and it doesnt come out… do i buffer the shoryuken motion or what man its frustrating i need a really detailed explanation on what u guys press before or after the standing LK or anything like that

  • someone even make a video on there hands or something like that if i dont get this down i gotta quit man… hahahaha

If you were like me, you were/are probably training yourself to do the wrong thing when trying to pop off lk/link combos with 'Gief. That’s a really bad idea for any type of muscle memory.

For whatever the damn reason was, I just kept wanting to chain all the crap together. Even when I was distinctly telling myself when to go to neutral and buffer what when, and the only way for me to pull my shit together and put out the combos was to slow down, really concentrate on the 2-3 (no little, no more) frames I had to input my shorts and not buffer the neutral->:r:->:d:+:lk::df::2p: as soon as I had been. The latter part was paramount for me; after I started buffering green hand at the RIGHT FUCKING TIME (the whole gief link fiasco was an ordeal for me -_-;), i.e. still letting my brain keep up withe tempo of the combo (most important part of the whole thing!), but correctly hitting the (n)->dp motion right before the last kick.

One last thing, the c.jab, c.jab, c.lk EX glove has the link “element” in it, and it’s a BnB combo, practice it. So, you did the 1st jab, now you are going to do the next jab, but you are also going to input the (n)->dp motion right after the second hit for use at the end of the combo (glove). Do the low kick, with mind to timing so it all actually connects, and drop the :df:/:dp: :2p: at the end to top it off. Guess what? You can now do any c.lk link combo.

I know this has all been said before, but I think its important to cover as many angles as possible for different people when it comes to things of this difficulty–difficult for the newb mind you, not necessarily a seasoned vet. that can pull this crap off for free: ex. Itabashi Zangief.

I hope that sparks something for peeps still having issues learning links like I did.

I’ve been trying to do the cr. jab*3 st. short xx ex hand combo forever, I just tried to do the cr. jab * 2, cr. short xx ex hand for like 20 minutes today and was basically nailing it like at least 60% of the time. It’s just so much easier to do.

OMG I JUST GOT IT hahaha its a freaking link all the time ive been spamming the 4 hits then trying to do the ex glove :S well i wont lie i havent mastered it yet, but i can do it quite often now hahah… farout it took me like ages to figure this shit out

nickerz can you please clarify? i still can do this yet. is s.lk to EX flat a link? iv just been spamming EX flat as fast as possible after s.lk and it never combos.

nickerz can you please make a video of your hands for me? =p
or make an audio recording for the button input timings!
im serious!!! im new to sf but i have 60hrs on my sf4 game all on zangief and still cant do it.

Uhm, just buffer the glove input as you would normally with any other link. >.>

Thxs. I can hit that combo now and I’m starting to hit the 3c.lp combos. This explanation helped alot.

i would love to manage those combos but actualy i think they are not woth the effort becouse they will not work all the time and on all carakters can someone confirm my guess?

HP splash, crouching lp, crouching lp, far standing mp, standing lk xx ex hand
Damage: 110+30+(30*.8)+(90*.7)+(30*.6)+(160*.5) = 325

Fierce splash, crouching lk, far standing mp, crouching lk xx ex hand
Damage: 110+40+(90*.8)+(40*.7)+(160*.6) = 346

@B&B combos…

i use at the moment

HOLDING:db:; :p:; :p:; :r:; :df:+:k:; :r:+:p::p: at this setup its much easyer than standing lk becouse crushing LK is a link all the time… some disadvantages know? <— i actualy use sometimes Splash–>PPP Lariat+backwardwalk if it hits 230 dmg+ ex meter if it hits not the most time it does one chipdamage and give me possibility to counter becouse after chip1 i can walk safe backward…

the combo thing is just a bit better becouse you can mix it more up with SPD’s like jab jab pause spd or jab jap kick standing roundhouse spd if the enemy blocks… but if you cannot do the combo well

using Splash+PPP/KKK lariat to a nice work for you becouse of the hughe chip damage you can even mix it up with “chip chip” backward or "chip backward or Chip Chip Forward i do not know if this works in more than intermidate or advanced fights but it works pretty well as mixup realy often the enemy got Chip Chip HIT or Chip Chip SPD even Chip Chip Block Counter is nice mixup therefore no worris if you can not use the cmbo its actualy not eeded for a pretty well zangief at first!

for the lariat there is a need to change forward and backward walk here are a few excamples
PPP Lariat Chip BackwardCip Forward BEATS TigerKnee loos to Tiger Uppercut
PPP Lariat Chip Bakward Loos To tigerknee beets Uppercut

KKK the same

and for Ryu KKK Chip BACK -FORward (both short) beats or trade every Reversal Shoryuken and make HUGHE chip damage (30-dmg per chip)

actualy i think in some situations the Splash/Lariat is better than the Combo do not cost exmeter and gife 30-90 chip damage

althou almost every enemy try to low roundhouse after chip backward and this gife a great ppertunity for green hand…

yeah keylow this is the best explanation it doesnt get any better than that, but i still press forward with the LK… dunno man… if anyone is having trouble try just making a rhythm with the lp > lp > lp > lk…

“the transition from cr.lp to cr.lk must be a link”

I still dont get that part.

How can you tell if you’ve linked it or not?
If it doesnt combo does it mean you didnt link it?
If it combos does that mean you linked it? Or can you still combo it and not have it linked?

Because i can always get c.lp to s.lk to combo but can never get the EX flat to combo after that.

ok nothing shows that a combo has linked or not, so theres nothing there to help you… like i said b4, look at zangiefs arms and try time it from watching him retract his arms after the LP’s… watch a video for the timing

- shit quality but yeah check that out and see if u can time it…

Actually there is. Look up at the opponent’s health bar and hit them. Watch as you see a pair of gold lines move across his health bar. That’s the length of time he is stunned for. So long as those gold lines are there, he will be stunned. Your link move will be the latest you can get your attack while still having those gold bars moving. The hit should land right after the bars are gone, so press right before they dissapear.

keylow,
first do this and think two combos:

  1. first combo = cr.lp -> cr.lp

  2. pause. let controller go to (n)

  3. second combo = f -> d+lk -> df+(p or double pp)

Start off with long pauses. So you’re performing two combos. Then as you get better, you slowly shorten your pauses, then this will eventually be one combo.

You’ll get the following in training mode:

  • two combos: first combo reporting 2 hits, second combo reporting 2/3 hits. (WRONG! Bad timing! Good execution.)
    or
  • one combo: reporting 5/6 hits (RIGHT! Perfect timing and execution!)
    or
  • one combo: 2/3 hits, because you messed up your cancel to green hand special. (WRONG! Bad timing or bad execution on your DP)

ohhhh i see those gold lines now hehehe thats mad maybe now i can do some some of the left over hard trials :frowning:

I’m dead in the water on teh last combo. Any advice for linking those c. lk? I was watching my hair grow as I tried to do that…

  • :bluu:

Just learn to time it. Try something, if it doesn’t work, just go a little bit slower, if not, try a little faster. It’s really just muscle memory, once you find the links, just practice em over and over till you know the timing by heart.

Some say to watch the little light flashes on the health bar, but I think that’s crap.
