Preppy, I’m sure you’ve already looked into this, but I’m just kind of curious. Where do these 70,000 copies of a single video go? If he were downloading them into some sort of temporary cache, is FlashGet “smart” enough to delete the file each time after downloading it? Does the user’s hard drive just fill up? Is it possible FlashGet is just starting to download the file 70,000 times, but not actually going through with the download?
Like I said, I’m sure you’ve already checked this all out (and I’m sure any bandwidth monitors would show it very easily), but it just seems like the average user wouldn’t have nearly enough hard drive space to download that file that many times.
That should work now. I was installing a new server module and so the server was bobbing up and down like a cheerleader on a trampoline. It’s up now.
No, it’s a measure of actual bytes sent.
What FlashGet is probably doing is just downloading the file in pieces 70,000 times and never realizing it’s finished the job. So it looks to the user that the file was only downloaded once since the completion event never fires.
It’s pretty pathetic, but again: this is not good software. This is malicious software that deliberately cloaks itself so that it can more effectively fuck servers. FlashGet is malware.
This is very related to the web server module I just installed, but I don’t like that module so far so I turned it off. I’ll see if I can make it better or something. =\
When did you get that message? The mod_bwshare I installed (the noon experiment) was generally disabled as of 12:30 or so. I have now fully removed all references to it since I don’t like the implementation as I currently understand it. So you could/should have gotten this from 12 to 12:30 PST, not likely after that, and as of 3:25PM PST it should be impossible to get this.
I was going to attempt to allow a max of 10GB per day per IP (seems reasonable), but couldn’t figure out how to get that with mod_bwshare so - turned it off.
Yipes/JWong, the finals, and a bunch of the money matches from Ohio may be part of a DVD or some other plan that has yet to be disclosed to anyone other than Baby Jesus.
If this breaks your heart, remember that Baby Jesus loves you.
Evidently I broke some thug’s heart today because I wouldn’t IM him the GF. :wtf:
I would like to thank AOL for implementing “Block (l)user” functionality im AIM. FTW!
protip: I have been known to pass along a match or two to friends that I trust via IM. I have not been known to do anything nice for people that are dicks.*
with the contextual caveat that I really don’t have those particular matches
