Yun Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Is a regular shoulder FADC into the options above doable, minus the stun bonus? Or are the combos themselves dependant on the RF crumple?

they require the crumple. I do not believe shoulder fadc combos would work as iv never seen them once before.

If anyone has anymore questions here is my yun doc. Its not complete yet but it should be done by the end of the night for non char specific stuff.

Most of what iv been doing is copy pasting parts of it so hopefully this can answer any quick questions.

Admittedly my yun is pretty ass compared to my other chars but i have most of the basic info in there.

I have so many questions that I just don’t know the answers to. One question is how do I deal with Fireballs?

Question 2? How do I deal with people that turtle like say Ryu or balrog.

Question 3 ? How do I deal with people when I am on the defense like lets say cammy is getting in that ass and I am forced to block?

Question 4? Does Yun even have a neutral game ? (I’m not very good) it feels like my whole strategy is getting on them asap to try to confuse they’re block to go ham.

Question 5? What are his footsie tools?

Question 6 in regard to question 1 is dive kicks the only way?

Thank You

Is there a place where I can find all of Yun’s option selects along with an explanation of how to do them? I only know about cr.lk, lp/lp lunge, which is from Xian’s old video.

look into my doc in the above posts. it has all of his main oses + DWU OSes minus very char specific ones.

if you dont know how to do safe jump oses let me know but i assume if you know his cr lk lunge OS you understand how oses work. If not ill try to find a video

Edit: here is a guide i added it into my doc.

What are Yuns best anti airs? I am struggling to find a solid consistent AA with him.

Light DP, s.mp, s.mk are my go to aa.

Cr. hp

this against other dive kick characters for sure

Are there any match ups that yun loses besides grapplers?

I personally thought fei is 6/4 or 5.5 in his favor, but that probably changed in Ultra lol

To be honest, i don’t think so. Yun is so stupid good in this game.

Giving him back frame advantage after EX lounge punch and 10 damage boost to mp attacks was lol.

Thanks Capcom!

The Evil Ryu matchup is not so hot for Yun. I don’t know if it’s safe to say it’s 6-4 but feels like it.

yun does not lose to grapplers i dont understand why people think this lol. All you need to do is play footsies and not divekick like an idiot. There is a really good dhalsim player in my area (AG Lucky D) who now plays T hawk against me and that matchup is either 5-5 or slightly in yuns favor. Yun gets outrageous damage on him (three crouch strongs, stand strong into w/e) and does decent in footsies against him. IMO he doesn’t have any bad match ups. MAYBE fei long since they upped his damage but other than that I really don’t see any others. The yun buffs swung yun cammy into 5-5 territory imo. I’ve played a lot against zangief and hugo. yun gief is a 5-5 since yuns footsies were buffed. IMO yun destroys hugo with his quick normals.

@Set I thought about your evil ryu opinion for awhile. I’m not sure at first I thought it was 5-5. I think that slight health buff might make a difference but yun has a lot of setups against evil ryu that make his dp whiff and xup on hit. I think in 2012 it was 6-4 yun now I think its 5-5. They both get huge damage in footsies now. IMO the only shoto that can really fight yun is ken. If the ken is good its very hard to xup on wakeup due to the way his mp dp hitbox “wakes up” while hes doing reversal. Just look at momochi and kazunoko in SEAM Gf’s you’ll see what I mean kazu goes for xup divekicks and there is this weird trade happening but thats kens mp dp beating it.

What exactly do you mean Yun’s footsies were buffed?
Are you soley referring to the EX red focus threat?

I don’t get how Yun’s buff’s changed grapplers matchups significantly. Nor how his footsies got stronger because of it.

I agree that e.ryu matchup is difficult. The “safe” divekicks your referencing to are blown up by people who delay their uppercut input, or if they know the matchup well force a manual auto-correct. I don’t think setups make up for neutral game strength specifically in that matchup. Simple confirms convert to huge damage and lockdown in that matchup if the e.ryu knows how to.

Actually, I always thought that the grapplers were still a big issue. You can whiff punish till the cows come home, and that’s normally how you would approach it. But if you mess up, you die quicker than you can kill them.

E. Ryu also give him trouble. DWU helps because he can’t just sweep you or SRK fadc axe kick into unblockable. Fadc forward nerf helps cause you can punish it now. Problem is that he has good buttons to stop approaches still in far st. mp(among others for air) and far st. mk for ground stuff. Ken can do this too with step kick and his mp as well.

So that’s some stuff from my point of view.

vs the grapplers [Gierf/T Hawk] there are some cheeky resets you can use from anti air normals.

Cr mp Anti Air
Delayed Cross up mp shoulder into mp/hp lunge
Cross up hp shoulder works for farther spacing for less damage and frame advantage
St mp Anti Air
Delayed Cross up MP shoulder into a mp/hp lunge

Its not matchup changing but nice if you find yourself behind and anti-airing with a normal. They also work vs the whole cast but just tossing it out.

I’ve always seen people say that Yun beats Akuma really badly, but I never knew why. I don’t really play either character so the only conclusions I could come up with was Yun punishing teleports with Lunge (Unless Akuma has U2 or something).

So why does Yun beat Akuma so badly according to everyone I’ve ever talked to?
