Best ways to set up his cross up mk?
I’m still playing the (laggy and broken) AE on PC. I haven’t figured out how to safely deal with pressure.
@Snax Block.
Learn to calm yourself and try and figure out what they are fishing for. Sometimes not doing anything is the best thing you can do. And once you see an opportunity to fight back or escape, take it!
I do block. I am actually getting pretty good at blocking, because I used to be pretty mediocre at it, and now that’s the problem, because I block all the way back to the corner. Ibuki, Cody, and Dudley are the most common. Ibuki is endless energy kicks, Cody is all about frame traps, and Dudley is just nuts as usual. Plus there’s a good chance Cody or Dudley will grab.
Unfortunately I can’t practice anything but training mode with the current state of AE.
Depends on what kind of pressure they are applying. A lot of their pressure you can get out by focus attack dash cancel. If you see Cody’s trying to frame trap you can DP. Ibuki sweep into hk into jump for more pressure? DP. Block focus tech and dp. You have so many tools. If you list some blockstrings they do maybe I could help you witht what to do in that situation.
vs cody if you have under 2 bars 4 button focus OS backdash fucks up his shit as does stand teching (throws his more damaging frame traps with larger gaps, avoids all counter hits, he has no low confirms so as long as you dont get to predictable its an issue).
What’s the Genei Jin combo after DP that (seemingly) everyone but me knows?
After an early aa upkicks, activate genei jin, then you can juggle with far. mp or cr.FP into your corner wall carry combo.
Try light lunge combo ender, slight walk back jump mk.
Or blocked cmp, cmp jump mk.
screams internally
What’s my corner wall carry combo?
Considering literally everything juggles in genei jin… anything. you could do lunge punch over and over as a “corner wall carry” combo
light lunge punch overhead kick X3 repeat until you get to the corner
Hello all, new to the twins (been messin w/ both) in SF4. Played em in 3S, but stopped playing 4 after Super. Anyway, I had a couple questions I think will get me in the right direction. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply! (they should be 101 for you guys)
-
Does Yun have a special move he might want to FADC on block for continued pressure, a la Yang’s 2nd Slash? or is that not a good use for Yun’s meter anyway?
-
I assume for combo enders we want Lunges for corner carry, DP for oki? Whether that’s right or wrong, I’m wondering when and why we’d choose to use the EX version of whatever ender?
-
Do Yuns tend to go for command grabs more often than yangs, on avg? Ive been watchin a lot of yang and they don’t seem to rely on them much, but it seems like Yun might really need the “what if they block?” option when trying to open people up. Am I way off on this?
-
If an opp blocks a deep Dive Kick or jump in, do you tend to go into cLK, cLP, or cMP? (if you’re planning to block string) Someone in the Yang forums said this is when we (Yangs) want to cLK for best odds of “true block string.” Just seein if that tends to be the same deal for Yuns.
Thanks again! I love the twins’ movement and space control options. I feel like getting in w/ them is usually pretty easy. Just wanna be sure to be sufficiently tricky once I do, get those mental guard breaks.

No not really, he can fadc his shoulder but its not really meant for pressuring further. It’s better to just preserve your meter.
-
On certain characters its possible to juggle into u1 from ex lunge. And for Ex dp for the ultra juggle in corner or extra damage you get from light lunge punch juggle.
-
Yun’s command grab is better than yangs, and should be used but not used predictably, otherwise youre gonna eat a mashed dp/ultra. Mix it up from your blockstrings.
-
Not necessarily, off a deep dive on block you’re +3-5 depending how deep it hits, using cr.lp makes the blockstring tighter, cr.lk is a good low hit to blow up stand techs, cr.mp is again for a frame trap. It just depends on what you want to do, or what youre adapting to use against your opponent.

Perfect answer, thanks!!
I didn’t realize their command grabs were different! I initially wanted to ask, too, if Yun and Yangs dive kicks were identical, but held off thinking it was a dumb question. But w/ the revelation about the command grabs, might as well ask… identical dive kicks? Two more questions, should be quicker n easier than the last ones:
-
Is fwd throw or back throw preferable as far as follow up pressure?
-
Does EX Command Grab offer anything, like extra range or speed or stun time, that would make it worth the meter? I’m guessing no, since I’ve yet to even see it in my vid research. But if it makes my offense scarier or more consistent, I’ll use the shit out of it.
-
While midscreen yun has no wake up pressure after a back throw but he can get safe jumps and divekick mixups off a fwd throw. If you’re throwing them into the corner you can get equally good wake up pressure from both.
-
EX command grab has faster startup farther range and can be karra’d for even more range but it isn’t always worth the meter.
Thank you, sir. Ok, so this line of questioning is gonna come off rather scrubby, but oh well…
I got a chance to play around w/ Yun in training and was quite surprised at my difficulty in linking his jabs (s, f, and c) into the sMP. Due to my playing on a 6-face button pad, plinking isn’t really much of an option. Do any visual or audio cues exist that might make this a bit easier, at least to start? (Incidentially, I got cMP cMP every time. Lol)
Its weird, but some one frame links like Rufus’ sLK sHP, or Guile’s cLP cMP (back before the jab buff) I’ve been able to do with much more consistency than others. But damn, I really struggled w/ Yuns, and from all the vids I watched, I expected it to be cake. Lol
(Note: I heard Chris G never plinks for whatever reason. But I was happy to hear it, as it gives hope to the equipmentally challenged like me. His Sak was already impressive, but when I learned that… mind blown.)
You just gotta learn the timing. Practice until consistent.
I was afraid that was the answer. Womp womp. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I play on pad and find his links pretty easy once I practiced them enough. I think jab to mp has a slight delay you have to get used to, but you could try plinking that. I sort have been working on plinking with pad and I’ve been pretty consistent for lp mp plinks…
EDIT: QUESTION: Do people know if some of those crazier select plink combos Daigo did when he played vanilla AE Yun still exist with USF4 Yun? I remember a while ago S-Kill commentating about one of Daigo’s combo in a tourney (maybe norcal regionals or Evo). I think I’m going to go look for those combos (I know super vague >_<)
