Does yun have any frame traps? What are your blockstrings like?
Palm -> Ultra in corner need precise execution since I often whiff it now during online.
Dive kick often get blow up by AA before the kick is executed, and my friends just FA lv 2 that s*** and throw a bunch of combo into my face due to 2 more recover frame.
Shit is totally annoying in every sense.-_-
Is there a specific way as to how to do the st.hk > lp lunge in the corner? I get it like 1/20 times.
Now there are 2 great players switch back to main Yun: Daigo and Kazunoko
use at max range of S.hk, use the tip of yun foot only.
In AE 2012, what moves of yun’s are safe on block? his normals and specials…
mainly close st.MP (+2)
lights
lunge ex (-1) (except vs oni/evil ryu/akuma’s super & zangief/hakan ultra, and the like)
lunge punch max range (-2) (except vs chun li/ken super, ibuki/guy 2 frame throw ultra , and the like)
crouch MK
shoulder LP is almost safe (far, -3, eats chun li super & other fast super/ultra)
forward MK overhead is -2 i think
seems that is all
remember that
target combo MP HP back HP -> very unsafe at the end or even if you stop at the 1st HP
far st.MP is -5 (if you play vs a mashing guile for instance, you’ll eat flash kick if he sees a MP, be it canceled in shoulder or not)
workaround : use target combo LP LK MP => you can’t get SRKed in between because there is no link, the ending MP is about -2 (eats chun li super, immune to SRK & flash kicks.)
dive kick safe only if you hit below the knees, otherwise very unsafe, unsafe if whiffed except if whiffed far away enough
to sum it up, yun is very unsafe & hard to play, until you become very good with him
after that, with a lot of readings, you can end up matches very quickly^^
can yun still go into ultra from a command grab without using super? is it character specific?
Woah thanks for the info man, I notice he does little damage due to his nerfs, what are the most damaging b&b’s? i’m thinking of maining yun or having him as my secondary, how long would you think it would take to be good enough that I win most of my matches?
his damage is still good he can stun pretty well. main bnbs i use:
cr.lp>st.lp>stmpxxspecial
or
cr.lp>st.lp>cr.mp>st.mpxxspecial
punish; cr.mp>cr.mp>st.mpxxspecial (most damage)
others used a lot: cr.mp>cr.mp>cr.mkxxmp lunge
Is there a tutorial on how to do a proper crossup dive kick consistently? I have been in training mode for the last while to get this off consistently and its kinda hard to get used to it. In matches there are many occurrences where my dive kick will just whiff right next to them.

Yun Damage nerf mainly due to his Palm, Cr.MP, MK upkick,* Ex lunge*,* Command throw* and harder* dive kick*. That is no more endless 5f command throw into cr.mp s.mp xx upkick. MK upkick was is main combo ender was cut off by 20 damage, which mean long mp combo that must end with MK up kick is not worth it anymore (some do 3-7 more damage and some more meter, other like **dhalsim cr.lk s.lp cr.mp cr.mp s.mp xx mk upkick ** deal 1 damage less compare to **cr.lk s.lp cr.mp s.mp xx HK upkick). **No more double palm or meaty palm (very hard), no more ex lunge to ultra (character and situational specific). And no more instant dive kick to catch low poke or crouch throw tech.
Other than that, his damage output i think is still pretty good, it is just he cannot be as aggressive as before and his mix up game is more limited due to slower command throw and shitty dive kick.
I think it is character specific now, soem character require different height and different angle. I got punished all the time for trying to cross up

I recently got back to playing some Street Fighter and I’m currently just trying out some characters so I can decide who I’d want to play the most.
Yun is one of them and I’m having some trouble landing Yun’s U1, when the opponent is not in the corner.
What is, in your opinion, the easiest way to land his U1 when not in the corner?
I’ve read that before the patch it was possible to EX LP into U1, but that’s no longer possible on all but five of the cast.
Only ways now, that I know of, is either a focus attack or lp shoulder> genei jin > U1. So unless you’ve got full meter or can land lvl2/lvl3 focus attack… you’re pretty much not landing it mid-screen. Before you could do it after EX lunge but Capcom decided Yun doesn’t need that anymore. Basically, you want your opponent in the corner. Really badly. Fortunately though, Yun has a lot of ways to do that!
Also I’ve never seen that before LiangHu but it looks like her c. mk lowers her hitbox significantly, leaving Yun to just lunge past her.
Edit: Forgot to mention that there are also character-specific combos that involve being able to combo lk upkicks into U1 midscreen… don’t know all of them but I’m sure they’re in this subsection somewhere.

When trying random stuff in training mode, I did find out that it’s easy to launch them with cl.MK and then hit U1, but I don’t think that’ll work when facing opponents that actually fight back ^^
midscreen? um lets see…you combo U1 after a j.FP, after a dive-kick (has to hit them at the ankles), and…the rest has been posted lol
Yun lost his Ex lunge to ultra due to increase of recovery of ex lunge i think. Because it was +1 on block and now it is -1 (or -2, cannot remember).
Only way to combo without focus attack or jump in HK/HK/Dive kick is to combo into Cl.MK for a air launch and ultra, but that is super super rare.
Otherwise you have to hit opponent by using second hit of LK upkick. Nearly everyone can be hit by this, but most of them are accident only (anti air too early, catch whiffed pokes etc…). Only 2 i can remember now is:
- Cammy: Tenshin (command grab) -> Cr.MK xx LK Upkick
- Viper: Cr.LK, S.LP, Cr.MP, S.MP xx LK upkick. Or Cr.MP Cr.MP S.MP xx LK upkick. Give some practice so you will know the range to start the combo. Very easy btw.
Other than that, I cannot think about any other setup to ultra mid screen. Palm FADC or Ex Palm fadc are great, but either combo from a focus attack or to catch whiffed moved only
