Against crouching Seth, HK dragon kicks seem to whiff at ranges that they would work on other characters, so I opt for MP lunge on him if I started the combo with a bajillion jabs. Like crushingyen said, it’s best to go for MK dragon kicks on standing opponents even when HK dragon kicks would work. The damage difference doesn’t matter that much after scaling, and MK dragon kicks recover more quickly. After MK dragon kicks, there’s enough time to do a safe neutral jump if you’re into that. It might be combo/distance-specific, though.
how do you guys command grab walk forward cl.MP Ex lunge?
Seriously, the gay inputting system recognizes the Lunge as Shoulder. I think TG4 is a much more reliable option
the key is to let the stick go back to neutral first. practice walk forward cr.mk fireball with ryu to get the timing
I am learning to do some of Yuns harder combos for example cr.mp x2 st.mp xxx kicks etc. I have tried plinking but was wondering if someone could point me to a source they explains plinking at a begginner n00b level so that I can understand it from its core?
It’s easier to do the target combo into EX Lunge than this. While the damage off of this is far better, I see the target combo as more reliable, and bonus is that you can hit-confirm to see if you didn’t drop your link.
I’m curious about what you guys think about Kazunoko’s recent personal match-up list:

EDIT: nvr mind, this discussion is already going on somewhere else.
He can do his dive kick at any angle/height
Is palm is safe on block, but does a good amount of clip damage
If you spam the Palm strike over and over in the corner by youself you can build meter super fast
He is… On Yangs level. They both are equal in many ways, but Yun is quicker
Yang’s Light Rekka (first hit) is like -2 on block or so. Yang has a divekick restriction; yun does not. Yang’s divekick is more safe on block though. All palms are basically safe on block, assuming that you aren’t using the feint one. The twins build meter extremely fast, though Yang builds faster cause he has a faster palm. (medium palm). Yang is better than Yun, but requires a LOT more work. Yang has rekka pressure, GODLIKE slk clk (3 frames, massive range), ambiguous crossup j.MK, a DP that can punish fireballs full screen, and a lot more. It’s just that Yang is so much harder to use and you need much more understanding of the game to use efficient in comparison to “Easy-Mode Yun” (Yun does not honestly take skill until you are playing at high tournament level >_>).
True. Yun is easier to use, and a lil’ cheap at times, (I should know I use him). But Yang does seem better, but he more 4 stratgy (Excuse my lack of spelling) since his attacks need to be timed just right, other wise you will get punished. Which is why I main Yun now, he is quicker, easier to use, and his lunge punch is full-screen, and the start up frames for his 2nd ultra is fireball invincable.
What’s a good anti-air for jump ins? It seems upkicks is only good as a combo ender, but gets stuffed almost every time by jump normals. I was just playing vs this Ryu and he would just spam jump kick, stuffed most of my upkicks lk and hk.
You aren’t anti-airing properly. Light Upkicks has 7 frames of invincibility. There’s no way it’d trade/get stuffed at all. Time your anti-airs better.
since AE ive been a fan of how yun played but didnt want to deal with the trolling on him. since hes nerfed i figured i might pick him up since no one can complain now. even though ryu got buffed i got bored of him and im sick of seeing all the ryu converters. so i decided to switch.
Can someone tell me his standard bnb, punish combo, and blockstrings?
I’m in the same spot, considering playing Yun in AE v. 2012 now that he’s nerfed a bit and not that godlike anymore. What is his AE v. 2012 BnB combos now a days?
Why is it that Kazunoko always ends his GJ in sweep xx jab lunge?
Is the lunge to set up the timing for the safe jump?
For an ambiguous dive kick(that normally crosses up)
So I got all my yun mixups and combos down (most of em) now how do I keep pressure. Without my dive kicks I just can’t keep good pressure. I just get beaten out every time. And its no fun.
I am newbie Yun here
Is there any advice for a newbie Yun ?
May I use him as footsie and turtle before pulling the final punch by using his incredible offensive ability ?
I’m really new to Yun and I have some questions regarding his basic bread and butters. I’m trying to get down his basic cr. lp, cr. lp, st. lp, st. mp XX upkick and i’m not sure where the stick should be placed. Do I start out by placing the stick straight down or down forward? and then when I stand do I push the stick forward or leave it neutral? I’d greatly appreciate the help
I like to start with the stick down-back so I can transition to block more easily if I decide to bait a reversal instead of continuing my blockstring. From there I continue to hold down-back until the second cr.lp connects so you can hit-confirm it, then let the stick return to neutral, hit st. lp, press forward and st.mp at the same time and then complete the dp motion for the upkick.
