Not that this question is being asked at me since I’ve yet to really post in these threads, but everything more that I’d want (such as say, a Final Fight spin-off series and other stuff that’s even crazier than that) is sadly not business-sound or practical.
Oh, contare. A Final Fight spin off is almost assured. And I think it would be quite profitable. The Final Fight characters are very popular, especially Guy and Haggar. Haggar has a lot of old school fans, Saturday Night Slam Masters is part of the proof.
I bet you wil see, at the very least, a full fledged Final Fight storyline in either the back up story or the main body of the SF comic book with in the year. It may not have Lucia and Dean in it, but it will have the FF 1 cast, with Maki thrown in for fan service.
SO IT IS PREDICTED, SO SHALL IT BE DONE!
I kinda meant a Final Fight comic by itself Anything taking place within the regular Street Fighter comic series will probably be forced to compete with everything else for space and thus the focus will be less than what my unpractical pipedream wishes would want (witness, for example, the five completely different and separate plotlines and perspectives going on in this latest issue).
Heck, come to think of it, for my own lofty wishes to even be remotely a possibility (and throwing whether or not it’d be a business success to the winds), Udon would almost have to be as big as Marvel.
The individual threads will probably come together further down the line. Plus there’s Bison and Co. tying it all together still. Chun Li said she was still investigating Shadaloo, Cammy and Delta Red foiled a Shadaloo plot, presumably Guile’s still investigating them in some way as well. Ken and Ryu’s story is the only one that’s not really Shadaloo related. Well, Fei Long’s too, but his has just started and it’ll probably tie in somehow.
This was basically a jumping on point issue anyway. It recaped what happened and introduced the new status quo.
Well, I would have to say I got a little mad there:D My apologies in that case.
Anyway, I was mentioning about Time_Stop being wrong, it was mostly out of a misunderstanding… I didn’t really get some of what Time_Stop was saying for the most part when I read his/her post. I mean, everyone who bashed issue seven loved the the Fei Long (bruce lee wannabe) part (which I liked) and thought that all else was average as in crap while I thought it was pretty solid overall, even though even I think it can be better.
What I mean by Time_Stop being wrong is that the criticism that he/she does is a bit blundt towards the comic. I mean sure this knife thing perhaps was not neccessary, but it simply showed Luwanda’s showoff personality as well. I don’t really see how the delta red characters are so cheesy. I think the Cammy action sequence in the first few pages was handled well, I mean afterall, the Minister wasn’t the target, but a mere diversion from the real target. I can’t say that was bad now. I mean Eliza talking about Ryu isn’t so unneccessary. I liked the part when Ken was training and destroyed the punching bag with his chi and said, “Hmph! Foreverlast my ass!”, I thought it was good. I thought the dialogue was too good to be an average issue. I would rate it above average to a degree, but not give it the top grade myself.
I think the Udon team is really working hard on this comic to make it enjoyable and if it were so average… I don’t really think it would sell so much. C’mon, it is at least written by someone who is an SF fan.
And the plot is not silly at all! I just think Bison’s motivation needs to be cleared up. I mean, SF as an action comic is pretty well written. The motivations on the “good guy” side is pretty easy to understand.
Oh and Time_Stop, don’t take my words to harshly there. I was only trying to understand ya and got out of hand because I didn’t like such critisism of the comic since This is a fighting game forum in which some can’t even appreciate for a second… I like some of what you say. It can help keep the SF comic on its toes… Say, would you write for the SF comic if you had the chance, seriosly?
Which seems a l9ot of people have missed. this is the beginning of a new arc, it’s just going to summarize and get new readers started for what’s coming up next. The Ryu and Ken recap, as well as the Guile/Chun Li thing, were there as a type of scene they use in all comics. The sort of recap/review for those who missed earlier arcs. It’s completely in place.
I, too, was somewhat disappointed with Issue #07. I was hoping it would be more focused on Ryu’s journey, and not so many other characters. Not because Ryu is my favorite character, but more because it seemed as if the story began as more about Ryu, now the focus almost seems to shift to Cammy.
Someone had mentioned the lame “cutting the meat” joke. I agree. An entire page was wasted on it.
Some of the wording has struck me as out of place. One example, this is the one that got to me, is when Ken is responding to Eliza’s greeting (“Hey there, good lookin’”): “Hey Eliza, what you got cookin’?” … it just seems like an odd choice of wording… minor detail.
Someone pointed this out earlier, also, I believe… Eliza still has a rock-hard stomach, yet she says she’s gained 10 pounds already. Also, Chun Li says to Guile when answering the phone “it’s been a long time.” There’s the question of how long ago this arc is from the time of the last one.
— I don’t feel it was necessary to reintroduce all the characters just because issue #07 marked the beginning of a new story arc… too cluttered with too little story.
The page where Chun Li got the call from Guile… should have been omitted… same with Guile’s pages altogether. I actually liked the art for the Chun Li section; it was just unnecessary to include much further than “I miss you pa,” if including even that much.
As for the backstory, I had no real problem with it. I think it’s cool to have guest artists do the backstories; showcases different styles. However, I think the page where Ken is doing a flaming shoryuken (full page) could have been done better. Other than that, it’s just another artist’s interpretation on Street Fighter to me.
Not too shabby, but barely seemed like a double-issue to me. More story.

Well I’m sorry everone I thought this issue was a total step backwards. I understand the other artists comming on to put this issue out cause of the jumboness but I thought the art was pretty bad. I like the whole american manga feel that the past 6 issues had but this was straight up bad manga. And for such a jumbo issue the story really went no where. I mean I like Fe long comming in the picture but the only realy progression was the last page and there was no real shock that Bison would be comming back. The best part of the issue was the cheep shots, I really liked that one. But that alone was not worth the 4.50. I hope those other artists won’t be contuning to draw for SF cause from the first issue I discribed the comic as one of those rare comics that has the inside art just as good as the cover art. But I’m never one to totaly ditch a comic so I’m gonna see where this whole new arc goes.
The story was ok, as many have mentioned I think the fei long introduction and storytelling was well done with art to compliment it. I hated the cammy part, it just didn’t fit the sf story imho.
Also mentioned by others I think the focus of the story should be on Ryu, I mean afterall he is the main character! Right now he just seems too stale as a character and unintresting, time_stop made some interesting points… too much melodrama!
You guys (udon) still rock though for bringing this classic back to life
cheers!
it can’t be wrost than this.
Street Fighter comic by Malibu

why do you think no one ever talks about it ?
I meant to say “sell” instead of “see”
oh and don’t worry guys and have a bit of faith. issue seven had a few unneccessary on panles, but issue 8 will be better.
Go Udon!
God dammit i’m pissed! i’m really disappointed in issue 7. man the guest artist drew like crap!! looked like he never even played streetfighter. the characters looked all shitty. for a issue that big i only liked the fei long and the ken sequence. oh and cheap shot is still cool. basically i payed alot of money for a cool arnold tsang cover. i think i’ll go look at my issue 1 and remember how cool it use to be.
Actually i did like the guest artist work on the #7 especially on Delta Red first appearnce:) it takes me back to a comic he did with Dreamwave called “Echo”, also i like cammy’s flashback fight, it reminded of “matrix reloaded” when neo fought a lot of agents in a school park i think:confused:
alright that was ok but what i was super pissed about is that ken and ryu sequence. fuck man those are the worst drawings i’ve ever seen. the second to last panel was probably comparable to rob liefield. and why the hell does ken and ryu look like mexicans?
ROFLMAO!
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought so!
hmmm. I never thought of Ken and Ryu looking like Mexicans. Yeah, I guess they look a bit like Mexicans. Good observation nontheless lol
And is that Yamazaki I see as your avatar Sweet? I could have sworn it was him with your marks all over him
Craptacular by Malibu comics
I am kinda dissapointed by this issue. 12 to 13 pages by Alvin isn’t cool at all, but I know he’s probably overbooked. I didn’t have a problem with longs work, but his faces can be better drawn.
Back-up story art has got to be the worst I have ever seen. His linework looked like chicken scratch. That wasn’t a shoryuken that ken was throwing. That was a Noryucan do better than that Lorocca. Jesus just look at how his foot was drawn in that one panel. Yes they do look hispanic as someone has mentioned.
The worst one is the way his buc muscle was drawn on Ryu’s mouth. This guy didn’t play Street fighter he played Mortal Kombat when he was a young buck.
Overall I loved the rest of the issue.
I finally got issue couple days ago. It was pretty good. My favorite issue so far is still issue 1. I know we will have to wait a long time for issue 8. Keep up the good work.
