That being said, modern music is trash (aka we are getting old folks :sad:).

Edit: Digicrates/Spooky’s album is an example of what I typically listen to and that’s fairly modern…
I’m never hesitant to break out some Yoko Kanno, Outkast or older Radiohead stuff though:

I never understood metal, it sounds like a bunch of people screeching and making noises. It kind of grates my ears and puts me in a bad mood whenever I try listening to it for some reason

IF you hate screaming, you should really stick to bands like Tristania, Nightwish, or Epica. They make great music, and generally have a female vocal lead, who is trained in opera. Metal is VERY broad, so there are a ton of different styles of metal. There is a world of difference between someone like Korn and someone like My Dying Bride or Anathema. Doesn’t even sound like the same form of music at all.

i dont know man, perhaps its true on usa, but other countries are more diverse on their metal scenes when it comes about genres and sub genres
one thing that i noticed though, is that there arent to much pure bands around, you have progressive heave, or melodic heavy, but not so much pure heavy metal bands, i give you that, but that is also true for almost other metal genre and sub genres, pure back, pure death, pure doom, etc; and tbh imo, is not a bad thing
as for iron being weak, a friend of mine that is an iron maiden geek, says that many feel that way because blaze bayle, he says that many hated him when he was on maiden, though when he went solo, many started to like him :looney:

I’m also a Iron Maiden fan. The reason why many hated Blaze in Iron Maiden was because many of the songs were written had Bruce Dickison vocals in mind. The music wasn’t written for his vocals. His vocal style was VERY different than Bruce is that he has a lower voice, and couldn’t hit high notes. Most Maiden fans who were intellectually honest said that they like Blaze, but though the music didn’t fit his vocal style. When Blaze got kicked out of Maiden and created his own band, MANNNN! He’s awesome solo, and his band now really compliments his voice.

Anyway Sign Of The Cross and Clansman were actually song better suited for Blaze than Dickison. Bruce Dickinson tries to sing those Blaze Iron Maiden songs, and something is missing. But most song Bruce sings a lot better.

I just really am annoyed at the way they make music nowadays…it just seems like they get some kind of beat, talk about sex, throw in about over 9,000 words of profanity and BAM! An instant hit.

With the exception of one of my friends who listens to video game remixes (there was this one remix of the Stone Tower Temple theme from Majora’s Mask he had that was made to sound like some rock song, and it was pretty neat), everyone I know listens to music like what I just described. I remember the days where you had good music and didn’t need to mention sex or swear every other line…sigh

I was stating that because you were complaining about the screaming. I can see where the screaming can put some people off, or distract them from the music (which is often very good). In either case, metal isn’t vocals as much as it’s about musicianship. Oftentimes the vocals are meant to enhance the sound, but aren’t meant to be he main selling point. Most metal fans aren’t really into listening to lyrics either. In either case, you get a huge range of musicianship in metal.

I can agree not everyone will love it. Especially if someone is into more electronic sounding music like techno or house

whats with all the hate on lady gaga? She’s said to be an excellent pianist and she’s also a Julliard Graduate, meaning she has a really good understanding of what music is and on top of that, it shows she’s really talented.

Gaga’s VEVO channel has 2.2 BILLION views. that means Stefani’s weakshit 5.5 mill vid of her being a Fiona Apple/Tori Amos clone was only getting views from a few curious people.
