I revise my previous answer. Every single character can be stupid as fuck online with enough lag.

I’ve come to the conclusion online Makotos are the worst. Invisible dash teleport grab every single time. If you try to play footsies whatsoever with them and they have meter expect random ex hayates you can’t react to to put you in the corner for more grab joy. So stupid.

Makoto is a difficult to train against because of the human element… you basically always have to play risky since that’s she is doing most of the time (shoto-backdash karakusas, twin st.short beats karakusa), just make sure she doesn’t land karakusa or you’re done. Honestly you’re better off eating cr.short jab dash punch because the damage and stun are less, and there are less options than a full karakusa-fierce-EX to 50% stun+the knockdown

With 12…if a 12 player has good yomi coupled with calculated spacing, you won’t even be able to touch him. Countering him is really not as concrete as other characters because of the variability of the IADs. He will make you whiff your AAs and DPs/reversals if he knows they are coming, so you have to be really patient most of the time and counter at the right times. The only thing is his weak defense and low damage. If only 12 had proper strings, punishes and higher damage (and that st.strong~LP+LK karathrow that doesn’t work close!)

oh I know I was just playin! makoto is hard to deal with online and offline, not too many makotos online though. same with Yun and Chun. the generation who came into 3s with OE are gonna have like no top tier matchup experience. they’ll be able to play against Ken Akuma and Urien though.

its ironic (in the morisette sense of the word) that the general avoidance of “tier whoring” is making the playerbase in general less prepared for when they have to fight the top tier characters.

Makoto can be played the same way online or offline. Idk why people think that they won’t get tagged by dash karakusas offline… That dash is fast. I think there’s about half a second to react to it.
The generation who came in w/ 3SOE is going to be doomed to scrub tactics… They’ll probably learn over time though… Well, I guess it depends on where you live too.

araider: Offline, at the right spacing Makoto’s dash should be reacted to with a good reversal like Ken’s jab Shoryu (ironic how I remember learning this; Arlieth told me about it, and playing him a couple of nights ago while hanging out, I did it to him)

As for nightmares? Honestly, I only dislike fighting turtle Oro and maybe Necro. I really don’t mind the rest of the cast.
