I started training combos in SF2:WW.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, I use either Dee Jay or Ryu.

23 / M / White
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (Arcade), probably '92 or '93
In '92 I thought Guile looked cool and SF was the shit period. Later on (around 2000), playing 3rd Strike with friends in high school got me back into them from PC games. Then got competitive with VF4.
Hokuto no Ken, Raoh

22 (i’ll be 23 on the 26th, though) M, Black (PR)
Street Fighter 2 in an arcade. i don’t remember the year.
i got into fighting games early on but got back into them around the time of marvel vs. sf
Marvel (strider/doom/sent)

-22, M, White

-Street Fighter 2 WW SNES/Arcade around 1992

-I played a lot of fighting games when I was a kid, and I was considered really amazing at my local arcade like a whiz kid at fighting games(RIP, Dream Machine!). Though looking back on it now I was a total scrub. I played a lot of Street Fighter(Ryu), Mortal Kombat(Raiden), Mortal Kombat 2(Reptile) and Killer Instinct(Cinder). I played up til like SFA2 came out, then I stopped for a long ass time. Then around like 2002 a friend sent me Guilty Gear Heavy Rock tracks over AIM and I thought it was some serious kickass music. Then I just kind of obsessively played it with a childhood friend of mine ever since.

-Guilty Gear, Johnny and Axl.

  • 20, M, african american.

  • 3rd Strike - Urien, Remy, Akuma

23/ Male / African American
World Hero’s arcade when I was about 7-8
Because all the older kids made it look fun. So I wanted to try it and had fun
I play a lot of fighting games and I am not very good at any of them actually…

-Like most of my SNES games, I don’t know how I ended up having SF2:T, I sucked at it and I didn’t like it. The closest thing to a fighting game that I got into was Super Smash Brothers and melee. It was only starting in the last 2 years or so that I began trying out different fighting games and playing friends which is how I began to develop a real interest in fighting games.
-king of fighters 98 (Lucky, Kensou, etc), 2k2 (Kensou, Seth), Arcana Heart (Aino Heart), Super Smash Brothers Melee (Ness).

God damn, dude. How are you not crippled by now?

Or are you? In that case, forget I asked.

  • 23/Male/Black and Hispanic
  • In terms of traditional fighters we know today, Street Fighter 2 at a corner store near where I lived in Houston, TX (when it was brand new in arcades), in terms of 1 on 1 format, Double Dragon on NES when it was just released on the console back when I lived in Hempstead, New York
  • I first saw Street Fighter 2 when I was on a field trip to a water park, but I did not have the money to play it at the time. A couple weeks later I found out that it was at my local corner store, so I went to attempt to play it (I was like, 8 or 9 at the time…) but of course, I sucked. Thankfully, other local kids taught me how the game worked…my first character was Guile (I don’t use him much anymore though) and I was hooked ever since. I play because I enjoy the format…its a great way to shocase character designs and playing with others never seems to get old.
  • I don’t necessarily have a favorite at this time, I play a lot of various fighters…both 2d and 3d…if its actually good, I’ll play it.

Yes, I’m in your area, I think…but no, I will not be going to ACen…I go to Wizard World (for one day…I don’t see a point in living at a 3 day flea market unless I’m selling something), which is held at the same hotel as ACen…however you’ll probably see a shitload of my friends there. Hope I was of service to your cause.

Well, since everyone else is doing it, and I doubt your gunna come down and rape me…

  • My friend I met in taekwondo classes. Went to his house one day and we started playing Alpha 3 on his DC with dramatic battle, then he and his bro (which are both SRK’ers) started introducing me to new games and blah blah blah.
-I’m actually getting back into Alpha 3. Right now since I’m rusty I’m using X-Chun, but hope to get back to V-Ryu/Akuma.

But right now I’m “good” (lol) at CvS2, right now I went back to my old team K-Yama, Rugal, GeeseR2, but also playing A-Bison, Yuri/Athena, Eagle.

  • My brother barrowed it for SNES, and from there I was hooked. I loved the fact that it wasnt over till its over, the short time it took, how dominant you can actually be with skill.
  • Soul Caliber [ Mitsurugi], SF Alpha 3[Gen] , SF3: TS [ Ryu ], ( I know im starting off on a bad foot with this one) DBZ Boudokai 3 [ Dabura ]

  • Can’t remember, either Darkstalkers (don’t know which one) or Xmen COTA, both on arcade and both on at the corner store in my neighborhood…so much good gaming at that cheap little mexican corner store…(was around 5 or 6? could hardly reach the controls haha)
  • Playing them, they were fun, I was pretty good for being really young and beating much older guys at arcades and stuff
  • MVC2, unfotunately that’s ALL that I have time for, also can’t find comp. for other games…

26/Hispanic/Mexican
Street Fighter 2 back when it was the rage at the arcades
Well No one heard of consoles back in the day, and specially here in Mexico
so we all would just go to the arcades and play mostly street fighter 2 cause all the big kids where playing that game,

I got into fighting games at an ealy age, but did not really start to exel in this area once i moved to the states when i was like 14 years old, thats when my first game i bought for Sega Genesis was Super Street fighter 2 and from then on, even though i sucked, i loved playing for hours and hours, But it wasnt till like Playstation and Saturn days when i started getting really into fighting games, i would play eveything. and Go to the Arcades almost every day. even skip school:sweat: Marvel vs Capcom 1 really started getting me seriusly into Arcade fighting games.

Currently I will play just about anything fighitng game, I love the Snk games, and Capcom games, and can pick up a fighting game rather quick.

I play a lot of GGXX Slash (Ps2) Kof 2002 (Arcades) Kof XI (Ps2) Capcom vs Snk2 (Ps2) Tekken 5 (PS2) Street Fighter 3rd Strike (Ps2)

But the main games right now are KOF XI I use eveyone but currently using Gato,Eiji, King, In Hokuto no Ken, I only learning Kenshiro still new at it.

Me too me too! Learning Kenshiro still but wanted to master Rei or Toki… now if Rei would stop doing mostly aerial combos… kinda makes it hard to pull off… :annoy:

18/M/Chinese
Street Fighter II on the SNES in '92
I was never really into fighting games when I first played. I didn’t get into it until Third Strike came out. It was the competitiveness that drew me in.
Third Strike, MvC2, Naruto: Narutimate Hero 3 - Makoto, Ibuki, MSP, MST, Santhrax, Neji

-25, M, Hispanic (PC answer <3)
-Yie Ar Kung Fu in the eighties at a supermarket. Feedle was broken.
-Enjoyed being at the arcades when there were more around. There was a time where you could pick where you wanted to play, now there’s like two choices here.
-MvC2, Team Scrub.
