If you thought the Malibu comic was bad, imagine if you will, a comic adaptation of the Street Fighter Movie! The Van Damme one!
It’s basically the script with drawings, and outside of the mere existence of said comic, nothing to write home about, but I cracked up in the store when I saw it. I would have picked it up had the people running the store had the good sense to put it in the 50 cent bin, but it was $4.00!
Oh yeah, it was put out by DC. That’s right, Superman, Batman… that DC.
I have those issues, they was part of the Manga collection that spanned 16 issues, though the movie plot only took up 2-3 issues, I skipped reading the movie ones. I got them about 3/4 months ago off of eBay.
Yeah I know, the Manga comic series started with an original version, then the movie, then the animated movie, it was still the same er… group of comics.
Its all part of the Street Fighter II comics and has a Manga logo in the top right hand corner, I’m gonna go scan the cover now. The stories aren’t connected but its all part of one series that had a combination of 3 story types. (As I said original, movie, anime)
Nothing wrong with scanning a front cover right?
I’m really sorry about the terrible scan quality, need a better graphics program, that and more patience lol.
I actually have that DC comic adaptation. Absolutely horrible. It really does make the Malibu comics (which I also have) seem like a work of art by comparison.
nortlee, that’s actually a completely different adaptation. I recall the one BBCampbell is talking about, the DC Comics adaptation of that travesty of a movie. In case you’re all morbidly curious about it, I found a link to the cover at Mile High Comics. BEWARE!!! This is NOT for anyone with a weak stomach!
As for the Manga version, looks like they decided to jump on the bandwagon and release their own as well. Was it drawn or was it composed of screenshots or something?
What the hell!? It made Jean Claude Van Damne (as Guile of course) look like a wrinkly drunk! And Blanka almost looks like the Shadaloo logo on Bisons hat!
