st.lk: startup 5, active 3, recover of 8, 0 on block, +1 on hit That means that, give that you connect with the first active frame, there’s a total of 11 frames of blockstun. (3 active + 8 recovery) and 12 frames of hitstun ( 3+8+1).

HK karakusa comes out in 9 frames, but is ACTIVE on frames 9 and 10. Meaning that even if the 9th frame is the last in the window of blockstun, the 10th frame (when hk kara is still active) will still grab them.

Canceling st.lk (blocked) with rh kara on st.lk’s 1st active frame: 11 frames blockstun - 10 frames active = 1, no dice. 12 frames hitstun - 10 frames active = 2, no dice.

on 2nd active frame (subtract 1 from hitstun/blockstun before startup of HK kara): 10 frames blockstun - 10 frames active = 0, CONNECTS. 11 frame hitstun - 10 frame active = 1, no dice.

On 3rd active frame (subtract 2): 9 frames blockstun - 10 frames hitstun = -1, CONNECTS. 10 frame hitstun - 10 frame active = 0, CONNECTS.

I was curious about this, cause screwing around with it for the 10 minutes I had the game last night, I could swear I found a timing where rh kara would snag them even if they got hit by st.lk, and if my numbers are right, it’s there. CH st.lk would add another frame to the hitstun, so that wouldn’t work, but I’d really like to see if it would snag them were they to hold up. If I remember correctly, you’re actually throwable on the first pre-jump frame or so (which is why you can’t jump out of Gief’s ultra).

Also, HK Kara starts up in 9 frames but I thought it grabs on frames 10-11.

so I thought that if you cancel st.LK Kara on the first frame, it should grab on frame 11 of the karakusa right?

There is still the 2 “ungrabable” frames business that i still dont’ understand.

Man this is complicated… Can anyone simplify this???

Also FYI if you just hold kick and try to do a hayate it will feint. You can just tap the punch.

I think this was answered before, and yes it is a 1 frame infinite that does crap damage (around 260 damage). Don’t remember where it was answered though. Long story short? Go for full combo (around 400 damage) + knockdown and work on that Oki…

I believe it’s confirmed. However, it’s just about the worst infinite in the history of SSF4. You’d be lucky to get 200 damage out of it before dropping it. This next post is for anyone who believes Makoto is the new Fuerte. I’m not aiming this at you, Doopliss. The first two FAs count as four in terms of damage scaling, so it jumps straight from 100% to 70%. 1 FA: 100%: 80 damage, 150 stun, 40 meter 2 FAs: 70%: 64, 105, 28 3 FAs: 50%: 40, 75, 20 4 FAs: 30%: 24, 45, 12 5 FAs: 10%: 8, 15, …

But does anyone have footage of it? Because when I tried, I accidentally released it too soon, got lvl.1, and it still knocked them down. I think I’ll need help with the timing.

so me and Vryu played a couple of sets recently and i think he accidental s.lk kara me on block and it grabbed me.
He told me he totally forgot about it and he saw shiro doing it on mago. So we where messing around on endless and he taught me how to do it i can post the video of us doing it later. But when s.lk hits u gotta cancel it late and u gotta use hk karakusa the timing is abit occuard but its not that hard to do if u practice on it.

Yeah, the guys were talking about the a few posts back. It’s pretty ridiculous how good it is. Do it right and it only leaves 2 frames for them to stick a reversal in. I like going for it after a HP.hayate.

Extremely easy for me. I’m glad, I was a little worried it would be like Gief’s s.LK buffer where you’ll get EX GH all day regardless of hit or whiff … or at least for me.

OK I’m having a lot of trouble doing the lk kara-kara. I got 2 questions

1. Is the lk actually supposed to come out?
   2.If the lk is supposed to come out, there’s always too much block stun for me to actually grab them, how do i fix this?

The lk is supposed to come out and hit and you just delay the Karakusa until like right after you see hitsparks.

Unless you’re aiming for it to not hit and doing it early for max range. In that case, don’t let it hit.

You have to do LK -> hk karakusa. On block, timing is a bit different than on hit.

Ok I got it the timing down now, thanks. It becames easier if you end the karakusa motion in up or up-back just in case anybody else is having any problems. LOL, this is sooo fuckin cheap

That actually makes it easier for you to kara , go to training mode and do LK > HK karakusa but try to delay the cancel a bit … and you’ll learn it ;p
