In North Carolina, you don’t even need the parent’s permission to spank. You have to notify the parent that you are going to spank their child, but they can’t stop you from doing it. Still, there are a bunch of rules about who can spank the child, and forms that have to be filed with the state (after the spanking). Most schools here don’t exercise their right to spank, but my younger cousin was spanked on multiple occasions in Elementary school. He must have been a horrible kid.
