You May Be of Some Use to Me: The Dr Doom Team thread

lol I actually mentioned him in my post, I tried him, but his damage was surprisingly sub-par, I hit the full :h: unfly :h: combo dhced into a very low altitude sphere flame and barely broke 900k. Then I looked around to other nova’s and they mostly had raw tag combo’s into someone else(doom/strange), which my team comp didn’t support.

Sorry I stopped reading after Wolverine, my bad.

If you want ToDs I guess you should try Spencer (or Dorm), Wesker isn’t that kind of character.

Dorm would give me TOD’s? Really? I never looked at him like that, didn’t think he had that kinda damage output. Thanks for the feedback though, ill mess around with both(dorm and spencer) and see what I can come up with. If I do play spencer though, I’m thinking I might run plasma beam though, I mean as much as I love me some 80k’s it seems like spencer will have a hard time getting in on anyone running missiles and drones. But that’s a discussion for the spencer forums.

Thanks again.

Dorm does a lot of chip damage in general and with one or two assists you’ll get an large amount of damage before the super, after which they should be either dead or in a situation where they’ll get chipped out.

Missiles gives you 2 80k’s though giving Spence tod’s off of grabs.

He implied that in his post.

So I settled on spencer, I’m trying him out and he seems like fun, he’s a little awkward at first but I think I’m getting the hang of him. My next question though, is which of his assists do you thin benefits doom the most? I’m currently running the straight shot because if I call it while shooting a full screen plasma beam it pulls them in and gives me a free combo. But I also saw a video of some sick corner resets doom can perform using the slant shot, so I’m a little conflicted.

Considering how hard doom and spencer hit, once I get my combo’s down(and get the hang of that drones extension for doom) I shouldn’t need resets against like 95% of the cast, plus I always prefer assists that help you get a hit to assists that help take advantage of said hit. But I figured id ask around before settling on a decision.

What do y’all think?

EDIT: Upon doing further research, while this video shows doom comboing off the straight shot, it shows magneto and sentinel doing so off the slant show so next chance I get ill test to see if doom can do so as well. Ill just post this here in case it helps someone else.

I’d say Slant shot since it covers better space than Straight shot in my opinion and Doom can combo on any of them.

I think Slant gives you better enders too.

You’re right.

L beam/st.H, H beam, Photon array for Straight. st.H, H beam, Sphere flame or st.H, (j.f-h, low hs) j.S, H beam, Photon array for Slant.

I’m thinking bout switching up my team to Joe/Doom(Missiles)/Hawkeye(Greyhound).

Just wondering if anybody uses the Doom/Hawk shell and had any quick thoughts. Doom seems like he would definitely benefit from arrows assist, and I like the idea of getting him out early and putting in Hawkeye with missiles behind him.

Then why not just play joe/hawk/doom? I’m not a fan of not starting your team in the order it’s supposed to be played and then spending two bars to get it into that order or raw tagging and potentially losing a character. In regards to doom/hawk, doom with a horizontal assist doesn’t seem very good imo, he’s a little slow to convert off them and hawkeye doesn’t produce nearly enough blockstun to give doom any kind of worthwhile mix-up.

Just my opinion of course.

Joe needs the Doom TAC to kill in some situations. Hawkeye second is his weakest spot imo, he gives no TAC and very little DHC to the point character. Plus this combo into Doom is pretty nice:

Getting Hawkeye in with missiles behind him is more of a backup plan if Joe goes under. Doom can also set up a safe raw tag, in some situations, letting Clint keep the meter. Either way, I’m pretty dead set on keeping Joe 1st and Hawkeye last, and Doom seems to fill the spot better than Vergil.

2 teams I am working on with Doom are: Trish(Low Voltage)/Nova(Centurian Rush)/ Doom(Plasma Beam) and Magneto(Disruptor)/Trish(Peeakaboo)/Doom(Missiles). I can setup crazy unblockables with Round Harvest and Nova. Also on knockdown with Mags and Doom, I can raw tag Trish, Round Harvest, raw tag Mags or Doom for up/down left/right mixups. With Trish, it is always best to use Doom Missiles but Plasma Beam works well for Trish and Nova.

You should consider using Low Voltage in the second team, I can’t see Peekaboo being that useful for Magneto.

Decided to try the Doom Ammy shell – can someone give me a rundown/a place for me to start with incomming setups with doom/ammy + mixups with THC?

Let your first character die, have two meters, press both assists, tri dash and go nuts until it works.

lol, thanks for that I guess-- but I’m actually mainly looking for doom ammy setups without THC. So far all I have is call ammy s.J then dash down m and call ammy then cross up footdive.

Excuse my crappy notation, I’m at work and trying to get this off asap, but here’s some examples

buttergun + ammy

j.B + ammy > f.C footdive
j.B + ammy > flight
j.B + ammy > airdash up/upforward/back xx fly
j.B + ammy > airdash df (opp pushblocks), j.upforward > airgrab

j.fC + ammy (cross up) / c.A
j.fC + ammy (cross up) airdash back (cross over again)

Doom is one of the most mobile characters in the game. Use your imagination!

I’m think of running a team of Doom/Akuma/Zero and someone suggested Zero as point. I don’t know if I should or if this team has any synergy to speak of. I am open to any suggestions.
