if you’re willing to spend the meter(rarely worth it), you can style on someone involving wolvie’s invulnerable tornado claw crossover counter. after letting tornado get one hit in–and before you enter its airborne frames–cancel into berserker charge then proceed to combo with his slash loop bnb. if you go for this, you’ll probably want to go for a reset that, if attempted while still in speed-up mode, should be trickier for your opponent to anticipate and defend against
how does doom benefit from cold star or even ammy in general? sorry new to this game.

lol obviously with questions like that. Seriously though, doom gets an amazing lock down assist and the infamous THC set-up with ammy in the back. Only issue is ammy’s dhc’s are mediocre on a good day, they scale like ass. Other than that doom/ammy is one of the best pairings currently in the game.
Ammy can pin an opponent with cold star and allow doom to tri dash at the opponent doing hi/low and left/right mix ups. Ammy also holds them for a long time making foot dives and easy hit confirm to start a combo. If you do a THC doom has plenty of time to finish his hyper and move around freely during Ammy’s hyper and either mix up or OTG after the lightning and combo. If you can get Ammy’s slow down in effect and tag doom in, it leads to some very brutal offense.

I’m still playing with sentinel, simply since he’s universally a good assist, but I don’t think I need him for Cap. i’m very adamant about anchors being strong anchors versus anchoring a strong assist to benefit the other two in hopes the anchor isn’t needed to fight a whole team. Typically I like to put the assists I spam second since in a happy b-day scenario my anchor is still around. So if I were to do sent it would have to be Cap/Sent/xxx and I wouldn’t want doom anchor. Sent’s assist is totally worth the use of him, but i also feel sent needs an assist himself so I’m more comfortable not trying to abuse his assists over 2 characters.
No that makes perfect sense, if thats your gameplan cap/doom/anchor then why not just go with vergil? Pr rogs been showing that the xx/doom/vergil shell is pretty potent, heck you could even go with cap/vergil/doom and do the chris g shell.
Well one thing doom players do is they do a butter gun while calling ammy, what this does is it puts the opponent in block stun and forces them to fall into ammy, they then dash up and perform a quick mix-up on the opponent. If spaced right though, if they don’t block they should fall into the cold star and then you can dash up and perform a combo. Another thing people do is :h: foot dive while calling ammy, it works in a similar fashion to the cold start set-up it just has to be spaced better since foot dive covers a wider distance than ammy’s cold star. Those two set-ups should help significantly.
Hmmm I should try that Cap/Doom/Vergil. Im still testing Cap/RR/Vergil but it might be a nice alternate to switch between.
Right now I’m up in the air between three teams, Nova/Frank/Doom, Nova/Dormammu/Doom, and Wesker/Dormammu/Doom (I like me some Doom), and I’m trying to figure out what the right Doom assist is in each case. For Nova/Frank/Doom, I’ve kinda decided on Missiles, partially because it gives great lockdown chip setups with frank and partially because I can get almost 40pp off one combo with them; for Wesker/Dormammu/Doom I’m sticking with Beam, because I don’t have a better wesker mixup assist. But in neither of these cases am I really sure, and especially the center case - I was pretty sure that Dorm/Doom would be best with Missiles, but then I saw some of the stuff FChamp was doing at Canada Cup… Brutal. Any advice?
Tough call. With frank I would think laser would net you better combo starters once he got to lvl 2, but doom missiles is pretty much guaranteed lvl 4- 5. On your other team Wesker and Dorm are better anchors than Doom, but both benefit from any of his assists. I personally would do Wesker/Doom(laser)/Dorm(hole), but there’s so much preference at play here. There’s not a lot of bad choices, it’s what ever you want out of the mix more with your play style.
I haven’t been getting the confirms off of laser, and it seems like missiles are considerably better for Nova as well; am I wrong about that? I’ll hit the training room on the frank confirms.
I run Doom on anchor in the other two teams mostly because of the lack of a decent DHC and the fact that my doom is probably my best character, and definitely the character I have the best incoming and xfactor cancel mixups with (do not mess with that xfactor canceled blender; it will murder you and your family). I’ll try swapping doom and dorm around in that order, though. Thanks for the pointers.
My theory with doom is that you should be doing enough damage to not need XF3 to kill. any combo into blender should be death for a lot of the cast. Doom also has issues catching people if he doesn’t have the life lead. Dorm on the other hand can give doom a lock down assist for free mix ups and with meter dorm is very dangerous unassisted. Also an x-factor cancel cross up from dorm is death.
Nova probably benefits more from missiles, agreed. you can even be a total douche and learn to time his rocket hyper just before they fall and make a super ambiguous cross up you can combo off. You’re trying to just use the rocket hyper to make it impossible to tell what side he’s on, not to really hit them. Saw this tactic as an opener at EVO but with a different assist (sent???).
Once again with wesker/doom/dorm you have so much freedom with order on that team it’s not even funny. All of dooms assists are useful and there’s synergy in any order if things get moved around. You even get safe tag outs with doom and dorm so that you can reorder for match ups on the fly.
Does anybofy have tips for Doom/Strider?? As in mixups and incoming character set ups
incoming: call strider, time your forward H footdive to cross up over them as they come, so they have to block strider the other way. if they can block it, fake the crossup by delaying your timing.
I have been playing Spidey/Xcharacter/Doom since Ultimate dropped. However I would much prefer to play Doom mid(Not a big fan of anchor Doom). Can anyone tell me what would be good anchors for Spidey/Doom/Xcharacter? I have a couple in mind I just want to get your guys take on good anchors for Doom.
Ammy and Sentinel? Can’t go wrong with those two with those guys. What’s the doom assist? That’ll give a better idea whether spidey is good and you can focus more on doom tech.
I always run missiles with Spidey. Right now I am trying Spidey/Doom/Vergil and it is good but I am still considering all my options. Ammy would be awesome and I have considered her before. I have played quite a bit of Sentinel but I don’t like him in most situations where he is the last character standing.
Ammy is regarded as an amazing anchor and with doom she has insane synergy. I’m pretty spiderman can do some pretty dirty high/low mix ups by web zipping on them as they get pinned by cold star.
Yea pretty much ammy or sentinel, I prefer sentinel but most people like ammy, either way your getting a very solid team as the doom/ammy(sentinel) shell can support pretty much any point character.
