Arthur can follow-up an airthrow with delayed OTG j.S to Chris’ mine assist. Launch seems kinda hard to set up correctly but s.H, hellbound slash, OTG bottle, scythe xx Goddess’ Bracelet is possible for ~ 550k iirc. Cannot launch after scythe because of hitstun det. Follow-ups are also possible with Spencer’s diagonal grapple assist but I haven’t messed around with it much.

Midscreen you can hellbound slash, bottle, scythe, hellbound slash, bottle, scythe xx GB. In the corner can also air series, bottle, air series, bottle, S j.H j.S, bottle (can insert heaven slash) xx GB. Nets decent damage. They fixed scythe pushing back on hit against crouching opponents so can consistently combo f.H, scythe xx king’s armor, launch into whatever bs we want. Might make a vid about the different things we can do now.

his normals seem to beat a lot more of stuff, longer Golden armor is a blessing, the herpderpness of xfactor 3 still absurd for Arthur, it’s even easier to lockdown people in this game, I was thinking about droping Arthur… but now I think I just need my last team member to complete my Zero/xxx/Arthur team he’s pretty nice in Ultimate.
His Scythe is a boss hit confirm into combo everytime (Save for his ground scythe.) What you can do is jump back or whatever if your scythe hits them on the ground its a combo for you
Air Scythe > (If close enough ) H > f H > Heavenly Slash > Fire Bottle > (Not too sure) f H > Launcher > Profit

Hit with Fire bottle Confirm > (Ground works just fine) Scythe > j H > Heavenly Slash > Fire Bottle > Launch that suckah > Profit

Yes. And it makes different combos possible after hell slash if you have an assist that can hit the opponent after OTG j.S and stun them long enough to keep it going. Posted one with Chris @ the combo thread, I’m sure it’s possible with Spencer grapple assist and others as well.
You can also do instant overhead j. , j. :s: and link at a s.:l: after it without the use of assists.
XF3 Gold Arthur is even MORE ridiculous now. Good lord. Not only do they have to worry about chip but Arthur gets like a GODLIKE rushdown game with j.S mixups. Also, the new j.S is even more of a buff to his game than I thought it would be. j.S cancels are really useful and give Arthur much needed flexibility in his game.
You can do instant overhead j.M, j.S~qcf+x, s.L or cr. L into combo. The qcf+x is just canceling his jump S into one of his qcf moves to cancel the landing recovery and make timing much easier. LIkewise, you can do a j.S~cancel, cr.L for a fake overhead.
i haven’t really noticed much difference in arthur when using him to be honest then again i’ve been playing hawkeye as anchor on my team most of the time(arthur’s still within my top 10 most played characters…he’s just taken backseat to hawkeye)
so maybe i should just play with him more and see what i can come up with…i did wonder what kind of chemistry him and firebrand had
but i couldn’t imagine an effective team with both of them involved
Firebrand and Arthur would work well, Firebrand can help Arthur extend combos with his OTG Spitfire assist.

I agree. He is MUCH better, but not godlike. He still has an amazing assist and is still a great anchor. The hyper meter building nerf hurt him (I don’t find myself with 3 levels when he is out anymore), but that J.S makes that irrelevant. It feels like I’ve hit more combos with Arthur in this first week of Ultimate than my entire time playing Vanilla. I think most people would put him in low-mid because he isn’t great on point, but I think he is mid because of how awesome he is in the third spot.
Arthur’s always been godlike. He’s the manliest man in the whole roster.
I really underestimated how good of a buff his j.S is. I remember reading his changes before and thinking “wtf that’s it?” but overall I’m very happy with this new Arthur. I feel like I actually have some pretty good offensive options up close now, and j.S indirectly really helped his movement.
I think every normal was buffed…
hitboxes feel bigger, I’m hitting a LOT more normals than ever… could be just result of the dive buff, but I don’t think it’s just that.
however, the dive buff seems to have messed with otg bottle somehow, it’s whiffing way more than it did on vanilla, or am I just missing something?
You might be finishing the air-combo too early, which will make you land too far away. It happens to me too.
Actually an air combo with only H and S lands me the closest iirc. Might have to do with how much time you’re putting between blows.
