You lack discipline oh foreign knight! The Arthur Thread

This.

Like I’ve said before, Just play how you feel confident, play the way that you’ll know that will keep you satisfied, that will keep you with the wins, the one that will make the other feel ashamed because he couldn’t think of a strategy to beat your zoning.

This. I’ve been using :f::h: to cross under jumpers too, as how most people approach Arthur is from the air.

When people get close is when I like to use this, jump forward :h: and bottle to keep them out.

At mid/far range I like to jump forward and dagger or jump forward, then dj forward or up and throw bottle to advance, that way I don’t get backed into a corner.

anyone got some good corner combos with gold armor arthur…i keep missing fire bottle for otg

Can someone PLEASE tell me what Arthur says when he shoots his Scatter Crossbow? I believe it’s audio clip #39 in the gallery. I’ve listened to it a million times and have no idea still.

In Golden Armor, he clearly says “how’s your speed?”, that’s not what I’m asking :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, if anyone can tell me which Doom assist works best with Arthur, it’d be much appreciated.

Well, the Fire Bottle will always miss on the corner when wearing Golden Armor, it appears that both the arc and the speed is a bit too forward or too slow. Your best bet it’s to start a magic series ending with the Hellbound Slash to cause a hard knockdown to do an air magic series, if you have an assist that OTG you can extend the combo obviously.

Try some of the BnB’s combos listed on the first page, try the best one without assists while wearing Golden Armor.

I believe that it says something like " 'Forth Knave! " or something like that.

And regarding Doctor Doom and his assist, try the Hidden Missiles for the ultimate lockdown. Molecular Shield works too if you like to rush with Arthur.

The noun knave is defined as a deceitful and unreliable scoundrel. The knave part could be right, but what would the forth mean?

Also, I currently am using Hidden Missiles but I wanted to make sure there weren’t better options.

I believe that the full sentence it’s “Come Forth Knave!” but I think that Arthur speaks too fast. Capcom, give us subtitles please o_O.

Both Molecular Shield and Hidden Missiles are good, you won’t need the Plasma Beam projectile because Arthur will fill that part.

4 matches using Arthur, 10 pieces of hate mail. Feeling good. :3

It’s really sad that people can’t understand the work you have to put in to consistently play good keepaway. I mean against good players.

That’s over 2 messages per loss, pretty amazing that they’d be so salty as to send multiple messages lol. I need to start learning this dude some more.

He’s certainly fun, though I’ve not played a good person with him yet. The most trouble anyones given me is a Wolverine mashing out random stuff. Stupid full screen chargin’ crap. <_<

This for the effin’ win.

I like to see the “keepaway” tactic as a discipline, because it’s not just about firing your lazors constantly and without a pattern or knowledge against who or what are you fighting in the first place.

It takes time for a good player on the keepaway to learn what punishes what and of course, your great match-up or your worst match-up, also to know the synergy of your teammates to either cover you or aid in your crusade against those pesky rush characters or any other type.

When I get hate mail regarding my gameplay I usually stick to the reply of: “Go home and be a family man.”, and I imagine that I’ve scored a point in a mental meter called the “lol-o-meter”, the more hate mail I get, the more confident I feel with my skills. All of you fellow knights should try that, it feels nice!.

Certainly the style of “keepaway” it’s not the only way that Arthur can be played, because he has the tools and the attacks to be on the rush with the proper assistance and the wits to pull off the BnB’s that Arthur has in his array of attacks.

I change my style according to my opponent’s behavior, because sometimes it’s better to attack rather to keepaway.

Cheers and Huzzah!

^ Truth. Arthur’s keepaway takes a lot more effort and strategy to utilize than lasers + missiles. Seeing as he can be punished for most of his projectiles by supers. Often fullscreen isn’t where you want to be also. I find I have the most success staying just at the tip of his joust range and possibly a little further out. This allows annoying pressure where you’re both able to use his projectiles as well as punish any reckless attempts the opponent makes with joust, c.:m:/:h:, or j.:h:.

I usually respond to hate mail with “You lack discipline, oh foreign knight”.

I like that Arthur has the only Level 3 Hyper in the game that can be X-Factor cancelled =)

How do you guys deal with characters that have beam hypers? Everything arthur can do is punishable on reaction from fullscreen for a good chunk of life, that´s my main concern with him now even worse than teleports.

Learning to not throw projectiles from afar without watching the opponents Hyper Meter that can and will punish your projectiles.

Take for example Dormmamu, if you mess up one Dagger he will mash Chaotic Flame, thus scoring 40-45% of your lifebar. Your best bet it’s to know when and how to counter-attack and obviously to not be read by your opponent. Improvise projectile patterns and never do the same trick twice, because it’s not only not fun, they will take the idea next time and they will thwart you the second time.

I used to have this problem, but it takes patience to get the hang of it.

Follow Brahma’s example of when you can ‘safely’ throw a projectile against pesky characters that uses beam hypers: Try to throw Daggers at the range of the tip of the Joust.

Cheers!

Just curious, is anyone else having a tougher time landing an otg fire bottle after an air series since the patch hit? I feel like the timing got tighter or his air series is knocking people a little farther back now. Anyone experience this or is my execution just bad today?

I felt the same way, but it appears that the timing is the same and if it’s tighter then it’s just a little, but yeah, it felt like you need to position yourself in the right spot and to nail the timing perfectly.

We need more testimony regarding this matter, maybe it’s our execution or maybe it was a change in the timing.

wow i think i just ran into someone who hates arthur with a passion
and i mean hates him with every fiber of his being(his team was zero tron sentinel)

because everytime he got arthur in a corner he would do a hyper combo then x-factor instantly just to kill arthur and this wasn’t just one time

every match we played
he would x-factor as soon as he got arthur in a corner

he didn’t seem too concerned with saving his x-factor nope he just wanted sir arthur dead and off the screen

i could tell his blood was boiling everytime he watched arthur’s battle intro

I played my first ever match online. I tend to avoid online before of the lag but decided why not. I don’t play Arthur at all. I don’t know any of his combos, or his normals. I just know enough about keep away, fundamentals, and his special attacks.

First team I used was Arthur/Hulk AA/Akuma Tatsu - only character I really know from this team is Hulk and it didn’t matter because my opponent never made it past Arthur then ragequit and sent me my very first piece of fanmail (I’ve only ever played one other game online and it doesn’t have haters):

“u fite lika pussy”

I felt so proud. Thanks Arthur!
