Cool, thanks for the info! Have you played the game? What do you think of Arthur so far?
Double post.
I’ve played the game, but before Arthur was playable (actually, same event he was announced). Can’t say much about him - that’s just what I got from Keit’s commentary / the videos. I’ll certainly be messing with him when the game hits, though.
hmm… arthur might be hard countered by hsienko… thoughts…?
hopefully some of his projectiles arent reflectable by gong.
-dime
some won’t be. Fire and axe… anything we’ve seen go through aegis.
I’m putting sent on my arthur team for sure. I think sent’s aa launcher assist is going to be too bomb. Wesker/arthur/ sentinel? Sounds good to me.
AHHHHHH, there is waaaaay to many options in this game!!! I am neever going to be able to commit to a team for tourneys!!! :’(
one of the vids on the front page shows how nice it is to have that gold armor flame assist with arthur - also with a DHC into gold bracelets too
Can’t wait to get my hands on Arthur, he looks incredibly fun on point. Having Gold Armor assists makes me think I won’t ever feel the need to counterpick him out of my team either.
For the fireball super do you control movement? Just every time I’ve seen it Arthur’s jumped midway.
You stay on the ground unless you jump during it. You’ve got full control over it.
I just don’t understand why Arthur couldn’t get a dash at the very least. Still hyped to use him.
No dash for Arthur? WTF, I’m late to this news…
Oh well, he still is going to be on the first team I try out in this game!
I jut think he’s going to be awesome at keep away until you back your self into a corner and then have to fight out.
Same.
Same.
With some pretty good normals, it shouldn’t be that bad, unless the opponent knows some good mix-ups.
That’s where pushblocking and assists that get people off you come in.
Right now I’m specifically looking at Haggar’s spinning lariat.
I got invited by the distributor in my country to try this game out with 3 other guys. I spent a good 3 hours trying stuff out with Arthur and Ironman mostly.
Arthur feels pretty decent. His normals are sooooo good. Jump C is great for characters trying to neutral jump dash over your stuff, and on the ground his normals have good reach, so you can punish whiffs etc pretty well.
His keepaway is evil. Paired with Doom missile assist he worked really really well. Easily locking down opponents at the other end of the screen and keeping them there. Meter building wasn’t as good as I had imagined it would be though. Even with all the spamming of crap, and the amount of blocking you force the opponent to do.
His crappy as hell life, and god awful mobility certainly make up for his great normals and zoning though. Getting caught by something like random Hailstorm really hurts, and getting caught in most character BnB (ie launch, ground bounce, OTG, super) does a shit ton of damage.
Gold armour DHC into IM Proton Cannon or Storm hailstorm seemed like it could be really good as well, but probably needs a bit more playing around with.
If you guys have any questions, I’d be happy to share my experience.
Have you spent time with Dorm & Modok as well? Whose looking the best at keepaway?
Doom’s keepaway didn’t feel as solid as Modok and Arthur. Only being able to do one photon array in the air hurt, as it meant that quick characters could block it, and pressure him while he fell. You could do the other air projectile (qcf a/b/c) but it didn’t control as much space. Photon array on the ground though worked really well. Although I thought he was weaker on point, his missile assist is sooooo good. If you haven’t had a chance to play the game yet, when you see it you will freak out lol.
We played a fair bit of Modok, but it was really hard to figure out how to get rolling with him in the short amount of time we had with the game. His level of understanding stuff, and the spots that you can put stuff on the screen make him pretty complicated. I honestly couldn’t tell you who is the better of the 3 at keeping away as they all seem to have considerable strengths and weaknesses.
Arthur’s projectiles were much better than the other 2 though. I felt like I could control Doom and Modok much more with Arthur than they could control me. His projectiles are just really really good.
