You Gotta Problem With Me, Bub? Wolverine Thread

This is true, and Wolverine may do the most damage of all the rushdown characters in the game save Wesker right now. I’m skeptical of how good the Berserker Slash cross-up will be though; it means you might actually benefit from being in the corner against Wolverine to some degree.

yeah…im really not holding out hope that berserker slash cross-up will be anything other than a day 1 trick quickly discarded/punished

at 15:23, it seems like his berserker slash assist can also do the cross-up. I’m wondering how effective this will be, especially when wolvie is sped up. Too bad it doesn’t show what happens when it hits.

What do you guys think his best assist will be?

Its too early to say what his most reliable assist will be.

For teams with a strong keepaway theme, his AAA will be used often.

Teams coupling him with other rushdown characters can benefit from either Berserker Barrage(for hitstun and some extra damage, maybe?) and Berserker Slash for its cross-up possibilities(although the positioning for it as an assist will probably make it tricky) or the ability to follow it up with a super, since Wolverine can super off his Berserker Slash naturally. Whether other characters can follow up the knockback from Wolvie’s BS assist with a super remains to be seen.

One person slightly above “button masher” and another who doesn’t block will make any character look great.

Except an assist crossing over isn’t really that great.

  • If he hits your opponent from behind they might (depending on game mechanics) bounce toward you
  • Same goes for blocking
  • The assist could end up being somewhat of a body barrier for added pressure.
  • It allows the assist to protect itself.

All potentially good benefits, but none that great.

I talked to Kurasa a bit and he said since wolverine has no way in he is going to be like bottom 3. Give him his healing factor while on point CAPCOM! Jesus its his main ability…

lol, yeah I’m sure that one thing will make him the worst character in the game.

Never really liked wolvie in any of the other vs series but i want to play him in this one. safe pressure is definitely a great thing especially if there is an assist out there that does a grip of chip damage. his overhead game seems a little week but if he can for people to block all day who cares. you can’t block everything.

We’ll see, but I think it’s funny how 3 of the most iconic characters (Cap, Wolverine, Ryu) are looking pretty bland right now. Those 3 together look like team ass.

That’s bad news for as I intend to have wolvie and cap on the same team :frowning:

i was considering it for a while - captain isn’t looking so hot but i’ll likely be using him as a main part of my team!

the “normal”/generic characters struggle in a universe like this one!

Just play who you want dude. If you’re really concerned then try posting up your projected Wolvie/Cap/??? team and see if someone can give you some insight. They may very well not end up being the best at anything, but they still may have some tools to be competitive.

I will definitely try it. My first team will be CapAm/Wolverine/Iron Man (Team Avengers) and then I’ll try subbing Iron Man with other marvel members (I don’t like any capcom character besides Wesker and I prefer to have a marvel only team) and see how it works out.

Only then I’ll consider a completely different team in order to be competitive at the game.

are any of wolv’s assists low in this game like he had in mvc2?

There is an assist list(sans the more recent reveals) on the Marvel vs Capcom 3 FAQ.

That being said, he does not have low assists in MvC3. Berserker Barrage, Berserker Slash, and Tornado Claw are his assists.

Wolverine is really cool. My fav char at the moment.

That really sucks. I was hoping he’d return to his former glory.

But at least it looks like speed up last a bit longer now.

wow that is some theory fighter there. If his AAA assist is anything like it is in mvc2 then it will be used for rushdown mixups. I mean seriously…“wolverine” and “keepaway theme” ? You do know those two things havent been compatible, right?

What if one plans on using wolvie as his only rush down char in the team ? Clearly the other two who will be zoning themed will need some kind of gtfo me assist. I dont see why his AA can’t suit the task needed in that instance.

I understand completely what you are saying, and I’m speaking only in the most general of terms. I was referring to the situation where Wolverine would be the only rushdown character on your team.

I am aware that Wolverine would never be in a team that’s completely focused on keepaway. I’m sorry if I was not clear.
