You don't like 3s?

It’s different tho, when their arguments are “parry nulifies fireballs” or “there is no anti-air”.

yea people need to shut up about it not having zoning and distance fighting because of parrying. the only thing parrying does is make those strong turtling tactics alot harder to hold down a fight with. which makes the player have to rely on other options other than fire balls or strong unbeatable anti airs (two things sf2 has as bread and butter).

I don’t like 3S because of YCK and because I really only enjoy playing one character solely based on his design and not much else.

And yeah YCK is beatable, so what. The only one I can stomach playing against is Ken, and even then that’s pushing it. Playing against Yun or Chun make me want jam something in my eyes in hopes that I can be spared from ‘fighting’ against them.

I mean I play MvC2 and CvS2, and Storm / A-Are fall in the same category, but they never bothered me this much.

Actually, now that I think about it, they do bother me just as much because they’re the same shit in a different game.

Fuck you Capcom.

:frowning:

Well, the are pretty much right. The one character designed for zoning and distance fighting happens to be one of the worst characters. I think people realize it is a tactic, but parrying makes it a pretty unaffective tactic.

eh, chun seems designed for zoning to me.

yun chun and ken arent even that bad unless youre playing someone whos better than you anyway.

I suck at SF-type games, and, although I like the system, there are some things that really bug me about 3rd strike.

I dislike Chun Li’s character animation which seems to be a bunch of flickering frames.

It really seems that the game is dominated by efficiently usable supers - either fast and hit confirm and punish friendly, or persistent and trapping for use when the opponent is down. I haven’t really checked against the chart, but it wouldn’t surprise if the tier ordering can be explained by super quality in terms of damage potential, ease of use, and ease of charging the super bar.

^thats true to some degree, but really every game is dominated by whatever is most useful through the system.

thats like saying tekken is dominated by whoever has fast, safe moves that lead to damage, or mvc2 is dominated by whoever has the best combination of mobility/damage/space control.

Quoted for serious truth. Scrub yun are the easiest of scrubs to beat i think.

That doesn’t mean I have to like it

Yeah Exactly. Double quoted.

Well, there is a big difference between using normals for zoning like chun, and using projectiles to zone like remy. In the end, chun has to play footsies though to score her super.

Shit I expected this thread to turn into flame wars of sorts but there’s actually a lot of damn smart comments here. But then again, this is the 3s strategy board

Usually when I’m at the arcade and the ST players bash 3s, I simply point out the fact that they don’t know enough about the game to say its shit. 90% of the time they are just quoting things that they’ve heard other players moan about. Usually along the lines of Ken Chun Yun. Which is kinda ironic since UKs best players tend to use other characters.

Tekken players seem to be more fair toward it. Not sure why. And the Guilty Gear players are…well, as DJ would say - different.

This is the reason why I don’t love 3S as much as I love SF2. I’m not talking ST either, I don’t like ST as well, I’m talking about Hyper Fighting here. I say HF was the most balanced SF game, even moreso than ST. Parry does indeed play a big part into why I don’t like it as much, a jump in attack against me, especially if I bait you, should be a guaranteed Anti-Air, however with parry, it isn’t 100%.

Now, don’t get the wrong idea, not bashing 3S or anything, it’s a completely new game engine, either deal with it, or move on. I’ve learned to deal with it, however it certainly isn’t my favorite SF game engine though. SF2 is where it’s at, and what’s all this talk about MvC2, that game is great, imo the most exciting 2-D fighting game to watch at the highest lvls, not to mention it draws some of the most entertaining trash talking between players as well.

I don’t know…I just can’t see myself liking a game like 3rd Strike.

whats akward is I have a friend who literally is disgusted by 3rd strike he hates it sooo much. When we play he like takes the disc out and likes throw it somewhere its weird… He doesnt like it because its not like guilty gear… he thinks every fighting game has to be like guilty gear to be even remotely good… which I find really retarded… because third is almost perfect in the many different things within the game.

i don’t like it because it’s not marvel

yeah that’s what makes street figher 3 like the old street fighter (including zero)
that’s why you rarely see alex , dudley , oro , hugo or necro players in the arcade :S . so people pick shotos (except sean ) , chun and remy all the time .
makes me feel bored fighting this averages and makes me feel annoyed with scrubby akumas .

many people still don’t like makoto . is not because she’s hard to use , is just her looks >__> & her style .

i like people who don’t complain or comment on the style of various FG , because they play ALLgames . ( there are more people who play all kinds of fighting game than daigo alone )

Where do you play?
