Unfortunately you can’t jump cancel Alex’s jC (or anything for that matter) because he doesn’t have a double jump.
I just wanted to put in that they can crouch guard at any time even during blockstun and any hug grab will miss, and also that from what I’ve tested they can just jump out of any blockstun setup w/ the super. Something that I like to do against an opponent on the D, however, is to do a low combo, but baroque the sweep asap into a instant j.C to set up a lvl 3 for some stupid damage. I think getting down the low/overhead mixup with Alex is going to be crucial for breaking down campers.
I’m still working on my basics though, so don’t take my word for everything :o
Check tthis out. An Alex unblockable trap

EDIT
I didnt notice someone already put this example up sorry
PLus is someone advance guards the assist why not use his rush elbow attack cancel into stun gun headbutt? Works for me
That is beast!1111
Hey I know you… _
Werd…grandpa? O_o j/k
Back on topic
I’ve been messin around with some Alex teams. Casshern works well cuz his shockwave sends the person up so you can knee drop em or attemp to jump and use his powerbomb (corner)
Alex and Polymar are good too cuz u can stungun headbutt after polymar’s kicks are near over
Cash Money is really good because his assist is retarded good and helps out a lot against pressure strings. Chun and Polymar are good for unblockable hax and because their assists stay out so long, and Chun is sex anti air. Karas is legit because Alex’s retarded D makes up for Karas having no life, and his assist stuns for a free level 3 or launcher for hax damage, but overall I think Karas might end up being low tier because his assist has no range/kinda blows and one super combo takes well over half his life.
Ryu, however, is my favorite because he gives good balance to the team (for instance, if you are having trouble with Megaman, Chun, or Karas, Ryu has the tools) has a stellar D game, and you can land a jump C off of his fucking hadouken for the rape. You can also mega crush a little more liberally because Ryu never needs a bar to combo into his shinku unless you’re doing something silly like a footsie crouch B into whatever.
A couple of things: A lot of characters without a shoryuken have trouble getting out of IAD Fierce rushdowns. With Alex just advance guard into his fierce charge back attack and it’ll beat almost every button chun and ryu have, barring something silly like a random super or a random well timed crouching fierce. Decent damage and you prevent pressure, meter building, and getting combo’d.
You can punish hadoukens and other fireballs and shit like baseballs and cashern’s dogs with a Super Jump C for free, just call it and its a free level 3.
How do I get that video?
OK i got the jist of wat you said (for the most part)
I wouldntreallyapproach with his jump C too often cuz its kinda obvious what your gonna do once youre in the air with alex
For that Alex combo video, can anybody write up the commands for that combo?
Quick question. How do you charge up his unblockable cross chop?
EDIT: I sincerely apologize, I didn’t mean to double post
When you do the move, use (and hold) the :snkc: button. Eventually the chop will come out and will be unblockable.
Ryu or Morrigan(in theory) Assist
IAD :mp:, 5:lp:, 5:mp:, 2:mp:, :qcf: :mp:(heavy is too slow so dont do it), :snka:, :qcf: :hp:, dash 5:lp:, 5:mp:, 2:mp:, :qcf: :mp: , Stungun headbutt x2,
5:lp:, 5:mp:, :qcf::mp:, StunGun Headbutt x2, 5:lp:, 5:mp:, :qcf::mp:, Stungun Headbutt, Full Charge :qcf::hp:
When I play Alex, its all about landing that jump C into stupid damage or forcing mega crushes, so here’s a few good ways to land it.
First of all off of any kind of pressure, if you notice opponent whiffs a low poke, just jump and C immediately, odds are they’ll follow up with a low whatever and whiff.
Second, I think I posted this above, if you call any cross stage garbage you can almost always get in there with a super jump C and change their life.
Third: Any non-launching assist off of a fast attack (Crouch ADAB works fine I think but I haven’t fucked with this too much)
Another way to get delicious with it is to use your mixup game. Most players will block crouch AAB low (you can block it while standing). If not then just AAC and sweep them, either way after a few repetitions they’ll be conditioned enough to get jump C’d in the face.
Alex needs cover up for the j.C
Perhaps j.C into Aerial Power Bomb + Assist? j.C by itself is not safe :shake:
It’s not an approach, use it to punish. It generally pushes them back to far for your assist to be help because of the roll, but I can see the cancel into the assist being good, or with a fireball assist.
Pulled a sick lvl.3 in a match on my roomie’s Ryu, videos soon.
Well when the opponent plays keepaway, what does Alex do to close the distance?
Mostly Alex just gets fucked up by a good turtle lol. Everything is situational and character dependent, but for the most part just try to call something and punish it. Hadouken can be punished with sj.C, silly yo-yo stuff can often be punished with charge 4->6c. Also, you can mix up the ranges with a sj.C crossup, even if it doesn’t hit, thought its not 100% safe, they have to call it well in advance in order to punish it and that opens them up just a little bit more. I like to just mash Partner and C after getting hit by an aerial rave. You’ll cross them up and often they’ll get ganked by your assist because they can’t see it.
Most other stuff allows you to close distance and from there you can use your assist to back them up and continue. Ricky and I were talking about this earlier; its vital to Alex that his assist stays alive otherwise he just gets either rushed down or turtled to death.
Alex doesn’t have a safe aerial overhead to air approach with, nor does he really have any priority, nor does he have a third jump. His best approaches are Dash to jab and airdash to aerial. Basically the plan with Alex is to know what buttons to push at the right time and get them for half their life while staying out of combos and keeping safe. He’s definitely Zangeif or T.Hawk in that sense; not a lot of good movement or attack options, but if you know him and his matchups very well, you can create everything you need to win consistently.
Well found out I can utilize j.C as an immediate overhead into whatever combo or even just a power bomb/hyper bomb. It’s helped out in my high low mixup game, but it’s obviously not enough.
I don’t block low against Alex. It just seems to me like he can do so much to you if you block low, yet if you block high theres not a whole lot he can do besides grab. Given that I’d say its best to open up an opponent with sweeps (no idea what he can get off of it afterwards) until they respect it, then you can come in with the j C right off the ground.
You best block low. low C into rush elbow xx BBQ, launcher = a ton of fucking hurt.
With polymer assist, you can get elbow into launch without BBQ.
