"Yoga noogie that poop." Dhalsim General Discussion

Is it just me, or does Dhalsim have an insane learning curve? For the life of me, I can’t win with this guy. I get that he’s a super defensive/zoning character and I try my best to do that. But I get random’d out too damn much. People just throwing out rand shoryu’s, fireballs, FA’s etc etc beat me every time. It’s like I go watch vids of Sim players, I go online and replicate, but I just get smashed. Rushers are the worst though. Rog, Bison, Abel, Akuma, Rufus and rushing Ryu’s destroy me.

It’s as if when I play, limbs get out right beaten by every single normal opponents have. I just don’t get it. In about 40 or so matches with Sim, I’ve managed to land ONE teleport, arms, back kick, flame, super combo. Just one. I’m guessing that guy was asleep or afk or something.

I’m at breaking point here. Just about ready to give up on this guy. But every time I see him in action with good players, he’s just so damn interesting to watch.

Yea, You’ll lose a whole lot in the beginning. Focus on using the correct anti-air and things will start to turn around. If people are jumping over your fireballs and kicking you then you’re using unsafe fireballs and need to stop using fireballs from as close as half screen.

after IAT what normal should i use. I always do bmk mk light flame. is it better to use stretch mk or bmk?

After IAT use b+FP in the air, then once you land b+mk -> lp yoga flame. That combo comes out the fastest and hits most consistently out the variations.

to all the sims i saw at evo was awesome!

cyborgcop and snafoo, always a pleasure, learned some new shit for this sim guy

Patiently waiting for those awesome setups adnan. I missed alot of the stream how did the sims fair. Only sim i saw was sabin and i only saw him vs valle and lamerboi.

Ya I am interested in seem some Sim videos from Evo fo’ sho’. He is one of my favs but I have problems when I meet up with speedy rushers.

yes the sims where amazing at EVO. i was proud to be a stream monster :stuck_out_tongue:

j.b.Fierce does more damage but neutral fierce hits much more consistently from my experience. If you know it’s going to hit, go for it, otherwise neutral fierce is the better bet imo.

Not necessarily. A lot of the time, I find neutral fierce in the air to whiff a lot on ducking opponents (especially Chun-li). If it doesn’t whiff, I usually have to delay it longer than I would against a standing opponent which would usually give them time to react with an ex-bird kick or flash kick, even with a fire ball that’s about to hit them. Crouching opponents is the reason b. FP is recommended since it’s a instant overhead that can’t be hit out easily with a jab or whiff. If you’re doing it right, it should hit as soon as you’re done with an IAT.

What Amsalp said. jb.FP actually comes out faster meaning that you can be closer to the ground and still have it come out than you can with j.FP. I would go so far as to say that for the most part if I come out of a teleport with j.FP it’s because I messed up the input.

I know b.fp comes out faster, but sometimes it’s better to wait a second before pressing the button anyway because they can block the fireball/ex fireball and it will push them to the other side, creating a mixup. From certain ranges after the blocked fireball, b.fp also tends to whiff.

Whatever floats your boat though.

I know somebody talked about the low instant air teleport where you you end up almost on the ground. I too have seen Mochi use it a lot, and I wonder if someone has found any good set ups with it?

well after 200 hours of playing different characters on super, and god knows how many hours in vanilla without a main, i have finaly found out how good dhalsim is, iv tried him befor with little success, but after seeing my friend playing him exclusivly for 3 months i guess it just rubbed off on me, 1st ranked game as sim i get a 5k guile and easily defeat him…somehow (btw i consider myself absolutly TERRIBLE at this game) then i get a 3.5k ryu… easily defeat him. now my friend (not sim player, a different 1) who has 3kPP and a 5k BB balrog, invites me to a endless 2 player lobby and i make him rage quit, he beat me easily with his rog, but i defeated any other character he chose, including a 3.5kBP ryu and akuma, i dunno maybe im on a lucky streak but im loving the sim, im not saying im pro or anything, far from it, my sim game is very basic, but thanks to this great forum i will constantly learn new things to try out, including mastering that annoying B+MK > LP yoga flame combo and fast / quick jumping teleport into mixup which i cant do very well yet, any other guys from xbox live feel free to add me btw, hopefully i can learn a few tricks from you guys, im in the uk so time zone and connection wise its best only europeans add me, i seem to have bad connection with any ammericans

L desu

update, went from 200pp to 850 with sim today, got his bp upto about 800, beat a 5kbp cammy and a 6k ryu :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey guys. Just started learning Sim this past weekend and I have a few questions.

What’s the best way to deal with Gen’s oga? Right now I’m just holding back in anticipation for a diagonal kick, and trying to MK slide out on reaction incase he does the straight down version. My reactions are pretty bad, so I’ve also tried using b.MP to anti air him out of the straight down oga. Sometimes it works and other times it’s like I’m getting crossed up. I don’t really understand how the oga works. How do you deal with it?

Also, I’m having trouble with IAT -> FP -> b.MK -> LP yoga flame. More often than not the flame will be just out of range and wiff, leaving me pretty open.

Thanks.

Any tips vs cammy

does Sim have any option selects? If so, what are they?

Hey, my chun sucks. I need to learn the dhalsim matchup more. Anyone wanna add me on XBL? My GT is: Jordunable
