"Yoga noogie that poop." Dhalsim General Discussion

That’s never happened to me. Most of the time you will land when they recover and you both you go for a throw and get a tech reversal.

Drills biggest threat is saving attack in my opinion.

One interesting thing although I could be mistaken is his head drill a knockdown?

There’s always a reason to use every move in the game.

Ground teleport is useful on wake-up to avoid jump ins etc.

can you drill really low to the ground?
if so, drill might be a good yoga-tower fake?..Thoughts?

I haven’t even played him but, I’m bored and full of coffee…played him in a3 and st though

Oh, maybe its due to me drilling form high up then. If his Head Drill is a knockdown it would be very handy, as Im definitely sure they can punish the head drill due to its angle.

Im pretty sure you can drill low to the ground, just up then down+K really fast. Not sure if theres a minimum distance of jump though.

And with Tiger Kneeing the Teleport, would you just move the stick in SRK, neutral, upforward? It just seems like an awkward motion to me.

thats excatly my thoughts too i would never ever play him in SF2 but in SF4 i will give him a try becouse i like punishments (thats why i like to play gief too…)

his teleport seems much saver in this version and much more aggresiv playstile seems possible too
reely looking forward to g

you can rh drill really low to the ground, but drills arent all that great in general frame advantage wise. seem to only be able to set up tick throws off them really. if you land a fierce head spear you can link super or ultra afterward.

the motion for tiger knee teleport is df, df, then uf+ PPP. Really wish people would read the thread as its kinda been stated like 4-5 times already :frowning:

Is the drill tick throw timing strict? Ive tried setting up tick throw slides but I cant seem to get it right, I always get punished for my slide after I connect.

Oh. Is there a list of shortcuts for move motions like that df df to replace f d df?

YO, arturo you going to cf this friday? I’m trying to get more exp vs sim. YOu are the 1st non A.I sim i have faced, thats why i got my ass whipped so bad. No excuses haha

dhali is soooooo sick

My apologies to Sabin if this has already been posted but:
What’s Sim’s strategy against rush down players who will inevetibly get in close? Are there good defensive normals (or anything for that matter) that will buy you time to reset your zoning game?

b+short is your best friend in close range. Like, b+short, into b+forward into backdash/instant overhead fierce/or XX yoga fire…mix it up.

b+mp xx yoga fire as a antiair is good to buy yourself time to reset the spacing game since they have to do something unsafe to get around yoga fire.

have you watched iyo’s videos vs Vega Curry (from nationals?) Theyre linked in UltraDavid’s video thread, he hasnt broken them down yet (im kinda too lazy to write a novel right now) but he shows how to deal with rog’s low jab/throw in close games quite well. .

Either way, when you get in close, it’s not exactly the place that you want to be. There’s no 100% answer for getting away from close range - it depends on the char, and depends on the situation. Sometimes best option is to block, try your hand at the throw tech, or spam b+short, or mash reversal teleport out…if you can give me some specific situations/matchups i would be able to go into depth further.
UltraDavid explains stuff 1000x better than I do, though. =/

Rashaan: yo my bad, I didnt read your post. I was at CF last friday :frowning:

That’s a huge help, thanks. I’m picking up the 360 version on my way home from work tonight!

Is there such a thing as a BNB with Sim?

Fierce is your BnB.

Jab fire - Stand fierce

b.Forward xx Jab Flame seem to be the important ones. Then learn to combo that supper in after that.

Sim probably has more combos here than ever, but he’s still all about the zoning and poking.

Okay, I’m a total mess and could use some help. I’m having supreme difficulty with some inputs, and I can’t tell if it’s this new 4 way restricter that I’m using or if I just need more practice.

b+mk >> lp yoga flame: I only land this about 3 out of 10. Is there some sort of shortcut input? I either end up doing cr.mk >> lp yoga flame, or when I do do b+mk >> lp yoga flame it does not hit in time for the 2 hit combo.

Also, shouldn’t I be able to teleport into the air from the ground? The inputs I’m currently using to teleport are: df, df, uf + ppp.

I have a question for all you dhalsim experts out there.

What happens when you have stunned your opponent but you don’t have a super or an ultra build up? What is the most damaging combo to hit them with?

I’m no expert, but I do either down-back+hp, down+hk or Back hp >> ex flame

I don’t know why people were sleeping on 'sim at the start. He is insanely good in this game. Ridiculous mobility, ultra, zoning. If only he had his godly a3 throw.

I’m having a hard time with Gouken. Maybe its just because I played against him the first time and not familiar with his moves (I havent unlock him yet) but he is way too fast for SIM.

What do you guys like to do vs downed opponents? Near or far, assuming they don’t tech roll it what are some mix up options? I’ve been doing yoga flames or trying to cross up with teleports but don’t seem to be getting much mileage (damage or spacing wise) with this.
