So, my life has sent me to become an english teacher here in good ol’ China. This isn’t a short term thing either…I’m getting married and will live the rest of my days in China. I’ve been here for almost 2 months now and have discovered that most people in China turn their noses up to anything but casual games. I haven’t had ONE SF4 match since I’ve come here and I’m starting to go through withdrawals. The lag is pretty terrible to try and play a match online against someone in the States or even Japan.
To get to the point, the question I have, does anyone know if there is an arcade here in Yiwu? Or for that matter…even a video game scene? I’ve come across lots of gaming cafe’s but they’re all mmo’s and casual stuff with the occasional shooter thrown in. I have found an arcade with some old guilty gear and kof cabs but I’m not such a big fan. Thanks in advance!
Dude, if you’re in Yiwu in Zhejiang province, then you’ll be very hard pressed to find an arcade with SF4. More likely shabby, empty arcades with old KoF cabs. Scenes pop up where there are arcades and even then SF4 isn’t constantly being played in China.
Really man. ??, ??? Seriously, just take a bus or train up to Hangzhou and play on the single SF4 setup we have. Really, I want you to come. We’ll chill and SF4. I’ve been here since August and I’m only here for about one more month. It’s either Hangzhou or Shanghai (three setups, big comp) if you want to train all the way there. You can also go to Shaoxing if you can settle for Tekken 6.
Good luck finding any other arcades. As far as I know, I’m the only one out here.
EDIT: Or you can go take a vacation one day and go to Beijing and hang out with the SRK crew up there. There’s a lot of people apparently right now and I wish I had time to go.
Yeah…I found those old KoF cabs. I played a few rounds but it almost feels dry now. I’d love to go to Hongzhou one of these days. The only problem is that I teach full time 5 days a week at one school, and then part time on the other 2 days at another school. Yiwu sucks period for finding things to do. I wish I could have found the setup in Shanghai when I was there. The only arcade I found was Sega’s Player’s Arena. It was pretty sick but mostly just namco and sega stuff.
I’m planning a trip to BJ for the spring festival. So, I’ll prolly spend a day or two playing some SF there. The train ride’s gonna suck x.x;; Thanks for the heads up too, hopefully, I’ll be able to make it to Hangzhou and play some before you leave. The next day I have completely free will be Thanksgiving. x.x;;
