Yeah! The Sean Thread!

The only thing I can think of is that SA3 goes under fireballs…but that really doesn’t do much. I can’t personally think of any situation where that’d be more useful than SA1, which also goes through normal fireballs, gives him room for EX moves (I’ve taken a liking to EX Tornado Kicks, as they suck much less than the normal ones), and will stock much faster than SA3, which is a plus that Sean definitely needs…

the fact that it doesn’t work on them.

I usually use SAI, mainly because it’s comboable from all of Sean’s comboable things and because the bar is pretty short, which is great for Sean because he has such trouble building meter. I never use SAIII; it’s not damaging enough to justify the long bar and it takes too long to build the bar up.

I use SAII against some characters though. Like Mert said, it’s good against Yun and Yang and sometimes Twelve, but it’s also good against Urien because its 2-frame startup and huge invincibility let it blow through every Aegis setup in the book. I also sometimes use it against Dudley just to exploit his jump arc.

The main problem with SAII is that it isn’t as comboable as SAI; it won’t cancel from a far crouching forward or from crouching short jab short, for example. I think its more suited to use as a random, antiair super. Not the best option, it’s true, but then again… it’s Sean.

I personally use SA III, I dunno I just find it a cool super, plus:
Jumping HP–>Standing HK–>SA III does 50% damage on Ryu  (Wait didn’t I just say that?)

OK just curious-
1- Can I link a normal after Standing HK (comboing into a normal after Standing HK)?
2- What’s the timing for Sean’s meaty?

  1. You can link a normal INTO S. Hk (S. Mp), but not out of it.

  2. Uhhh very careful? There’s not much to say here. I tend to hit people on wakeup with either C. Mk, C. Lk ( -> C. Lp -> C. Lk), or UOH. S. Hk is good too, but I prefer using mid attacks very scarcely on wakeup. It’s certainly not bad, though.

hyper tornado is MAINLY a punish super… it has a very long bar for the somewhat decent damage it does… if you are decent with sean then the meter shouldn’t matter at all cause you’ll fill it back up… just run away and just cr.mp to build meter and do whatever you normally would do when they start to get close. I use it sometimes and somehow i manage to build the meter back up. but other than that… hadou-burst and shoryu-cannon are your best bets… hadou-burst if you rely on cr.mk,super… if not and you want a decent anti-air/link super then go for shoryu-cannon

Bump! Hey, if any mods think this thread is cool, may I request it be stuck?

It’s useful but it doesn’t tell you the frame advantage of the specials when they connect.

Who else can get hit, other than Makoto, by the Standing MP, HK-Link->SA III combo as seen in KYSG’s vid?

target combo link to SA3 on STUN. WOOOOO

What the hell you talking about, ‘on stun’…

That works on Makoto regardless of if shes on stun or not…

Close Standing Fierce into an EX Tornado does half stun on nearly every character…

It looks like it works in the corner. I’ve tried this thing a million times midscreen and had no luck.

No…Its work on her anywhere on the screen…

You’ll know when it hits because her head is tilted backwards, from the target combo…

Sean’s far Fierce has uses as a on reaction Anti-air. I’ve found that random Dragon Smashes can sometimes stop Oro and Twelve’s hijinks.

I’m becoming a bigger and bigger fan of Far S.Hp as a poke in general - it’s like a ghetto version of Ken’s S.Hk.

Umm I think his jump can really help like he jumps really high when he super jumps. Sean can win just based on the fact that no one plays him and also the fact everyone doubts him constantly. I have a friend who plays sean and I see that sean can win with confidence.

Use SAIII against Chunners…But make sure you mixup into the hit confirm because she can outpoke you…

Also you can reversal it off her c.forward…

Standing MP is interesting-

So is sean really that bad?

Is sean really that bad then?

He seems to be pretty good.
