I was staying grounded. The whole thing was this is ONLINE so walk up then crouch block is delayed, anti airing jump ins is delayed. I punished a handful of tatsus with crHP and the other 50-100 times I whiffed.
I could see the game hiccup last night. I played some run away clown over and over who did empty jump back for the entire match (I lost like 3-4 times to this guy out of at least 15 games) and I lost because anti airs were delayed or I dropped easy combos repeatedly.
Honestly, the delay in games is ridiculous. I can’t just get on and play and have a few good matches unless I schedule a time to play with someone I know who I can have a decent connection with.

I picked U1 today in every fight today.
I think I see what Marn was getting at when he was saying why U1 is better. U2 you mostly tack it on at the end of something for an extra 100-200 dmg, U1 you pretty much just do it for a big punish without blowing any EX meter and I think it punishes everything U2 does except moves done in air.
The only matches I feel like U1 failed me in was vs Balrog and vs Adon, but then again I only used U1 against Honda and Guile and recently on Fuerte so I had little experience using the move against anyone else.
Using only U1 today I feel like I got better using everything else and not depending on the extra damage from U2 in combos. And U1 leaves them right in front of you when it connects. I’m digging it.
U1 shuts down other offensive options too.

Dunno if everybody except me knew this already, but wiggle ultras are hot as shit. I have NEVER caught so many Ultra punishes as yesterday and I just started trying to use it. HOT DAMN.
Idea being that you wiggle your stick either :db::d::df: or :d::df: and ANY TIME you see smth to punish it with you can just do :r:+:3p:/:3k: and it comes out so much faster and “safer”(meaning that input is much harder to botch this way) than I at least ever could. Link included for your comfort.

im still not convinced on U1, U2 just has so many more options, even if its tacking on some extra damage, i just don’t think it’s worth it. I feel alot safer comboing into my ultra, then trying to punish a normal or something like that. Maybe because im not like marn and i prefer consistency over a gut feeling.
Againts Ryu, Ultra 1 is so much better than Ultra 2 because it completely shuts down any of his moves with range further than cr.MK
No sweeps. No fireballs. Then it is all a guessing game walking in and out trying to bait whiffed cr.MKs or do instant evel 1 focus absorbs on cr.MK which will score a counter hit crumple if they follow up with fireballs.
Ill keep that in mind, especially since i know you weren’t a fan of U1 to begin with

Good Ryu players (offline tourney experienced and/or 4000pp+) Ryus I’ve played wont throw out sweeps or Hadokens after you get an U1.

I can get U2 off of an EX cross counter. That’s good enough for me.
Anyone able to consistently do Ultra after a blocked cr. MK is gdlk.
I was trying that shit in training, damn that’s a tight window between the cr. MK and eating a fireball.
i did that in a couple matches because I followed patterns of the ryus, but its near impossible against advanced ryus because they mixup their tactics too much.
