The point wasn’t that Evo never bans things, the point was the Brawl community didn’t agree with Evo’s rules.
It’s kinda funny, as I recall when Brawl players threw a tantrum about Evo’s ruleset, I believe the response given most often was “go run your own tournament”. Good for the goose, etc.
Can you prove I’m 100% wrong? Probably not. But I have a better chance of proving how broken he is compared to the rest of the cast. It’s not rocket science.
No. The point was most of the brawl community wanted to and did ban most if not all items and stages and a lot of srk people gave them shit about wantig to ban all that shit without having any tourney results to prove that all that stuff warranted banning in the first place. But then evo does the exact same shit that it’s members flamed the brawl community for doing? hypocrisy and ignorance at it’s finest.

Also it doesn’t matter who says what should or shouldn’t be banned when it comes to banning characters from fighting game tournaments, major tourney results are the only determining factor and going by any other means is premature, ignorant, and completely illogical. What’s evo so scared of? 5 akuma’s making top8? yeah that means he’s ban worthy oh wait…didn’t that happen in 3s last year? and magically chun isnt banned.
chun/yun don’t have any bad matchups and dominate the entire cast yet they aren’t banned so if evo did ban akuma because they are afraid of the same thing happening to sthd they should also ban yun/chun going by that logic.

No. Not if you’re not a scrub anyways. Here on srk we don’t bn anything until it’s proven to be broken by tourney results, st akuma for example was banned because st tourneys devolved into nothing but akuma mirrors. Here we are prematurely banning him before he proves himself to be worth banning in the first place. It echos what happened with brawl because mr wiz asked srk and the smash community to prove to him what if anything warranted banning and through months of testing spearheaded by keits who proved nothing is really worth banning we kept mostly everything in. But without so much as a single evo akuma gets banned with the quickness…double standards much.
Also it’s funny how you nor anyone answers any of the points I brought up much less even explain WHY they banned akuma without any tourney results.

As an Akuma enthusiast I found this news to be quite upsetting. I was actually looking forward to seeing Akuma in action in Evo this year. The guy is definitely a strong character, but like many others here, I don’t understand why they would be so quick to smack him with the big ol’ Ban Hammer before he even had the chance to be tested in a huge tournament like Evo even ONCE.
STHD has been out for far less than a year and they’re already laying down character bans? I mean it’s true that Damdai completely destroyed people with Akuma at tournaments, but I’m also curious to know how many other Akumas there were at those tournaments in total. Also, isn’t it also possible that Damdai is just an extremely good player using a very good character? I mean how many people are actually able to pick up Akuma and use him to such a good extent to warrant such a quick ban between the time this game was released up until now to prove that he is 100% undeniably broken?
