I want the game to not look like shit when I play full screen and have the steam overlay take up a quarter of the screen. I’ll take letterboxing, filters and upscaling if it would improve things. The way it is now makes the game annoying to play.
NVM
It is totally in the game, all characters, everyone of them should be able to use it.
Not everyone one of them as a good s.D to confirm off of though.
The timing is quite easy (piano Parry~Move~Throw) but I think except if you are playing on pad (This game looks like far easier on pad globally) it is kinda impractical.
Especially as the low parry looks like the best one to use in most situation as people tend to block low so mash low moves.
They ran out of money you dick. 3 guys made this game. You want more, then support them. its that simple.
Oh what you are asking for is impossible. No emulator adds pixels to any fighting sprite game. This is why the game is only $15 dollars, what you are asking for is for games that have a $60 price tag.
I like the overlay. It’s never been an issue for the other fighters I have on Steam.
I’ve already presented how it isn’t impossible. Use borders to preserve aspect ratio, fiters, letterboxes, etc. I don’t care how many people made it, I’m not gonna excuse basic features of the platform to be missing. What I’m asking for should be standard for ALL PC games.
Those are standards for full priced games. This is a sprite based game which cost a lot more to make compared to 3D type graphics. This is why major game publishers have moved on from sprite based fighters. Not even SNK makes their sprite native to 720p. It cost too much. They can add filters in the future but that cost money. You downloading the demo of a $15 game isnt going to help get you those features. This is why I brought the game to support these guys. They did a fantastic job with the little money and man power they had to work with.
You are just one of these selfish self centered players out there that bitch about everything. If the games pricetag was $60 then you would have a point. You are the type to basically spend the same amount at McDonalds and then complains that your burger isnt Kobe Beef.
There’s a game called Odallus: http://joymasher.com/odallus/ that’s $15 and made by two guys. It has resolution options and all that. Great game (can’t wait for the Steam release tomorrow) plus the Indiegogo for it was only about eight grand.
There’s also Skullgirls which also costs $15, has tons of resolution options and content and free DLC characters at launch.
You cant compared a 8-bit side scroller beat em up to a full fledge fighting game. The budget goes towards completely different things that arent part of the development cycle compared to a side scroller. Skull Girls had more money and a bigger team during development. Also, Skull Girls uses a 3D engine. Cataclysm is completely sprite based.
Yeah and Skullgirls are HD sprites already so of course it will have resolution options, plus it costs them $150,000 for them to make one character.
Also didn’t cost $15 at its launch.
Odallus has option but like I said before doesn’t change anything except for the aspect ratio which you can stretch and make fullscreen or stay 4:3 like in Yata, you can’t create more pixels.
You obviously don’t know jack shit. You see this game right here was developed by one guy and not only does it contain something as basic as resolution setting but has stuff that other games don’t have like a color blind mode. It’s $15.
Aces Wild, sprite based brawler and it has all the standard resolution settings for full solution and windowed. This game is $10.
Such basic fucking features for a PC game is not mutually exclusive to AAAs. This is standard for anyone who plays a game on PC. I’m not gonna buy a game hoping the features the game needs will be added later.
See, there are two ways you can go about this. One, you can support these 3 developers who have developed a solid core fighting game on a relatively small budget which will encourage them to continue working on things like the interface and adding GGPO (especially since we know that they will add GGPO in the future, it’s possible that other updates to the interface are in the making as well.), or instead you can act like a child whose parents didn’t buy him the right action figure for his birthday and complain on the forums and create negative sentiment surrounding the game, which no only will not help you, but will also screw over all the people who are supporting the game who understand the situations surrounding its creation.
I think the lack of resolution features, attractive UI, having to know port forwarding, and not having ggpo on launch just hurts the games chances of success. I played the demo, seems like a very well designed game and fun. However those other things I’ve mentioned will cause many people to pass on the game.
Why should I support something when what I want isn’t there? There’s no guarantee that it ever will be there. I don’t support on blind faith. The best option for me is to wait until things improve before tossing money at it.
This is a discussion thread not a circlejerk. If I have a negative sentiment about this game which in this case is the lack of a basic feature I will voice it.
Apples vs Oranges, those are side scroller games. They had bigger budgets and teams. Elysian was funded by Microsoft for god sakes. Side scrollers and fighting games have way different development. Money that normally goes into video options for those side scrollers dont for games like Cataclysm (3 man team). That money had to go towards hand drawn every dam animation sprite and balancing the fighters. Also theres netcode that needs to be in working order at day one. Which is infinite more important for fighting games than some stupid side scroller. Your comparison are completely horrible. Before you go off telling someone they dont know jackshit, do some research and learn something.
You are a perfect example of the now generation. If you dont like the game, then stop posting in here trying to ruin it for others.
You continue to not know shit. Microsoft didn’t fund Dust. The game’s dev won a contest for indie devs that Microsoft runs which lead to Microsoft publishing the game. Dust was originally going to be released on Xbox’s arcade indie channel before it won. A Microsoft funded game won’t have a DRM-free vision on GoG. It also doesn’t take away the fact that a single person developed it for over 3 years.
You changing the goal posts. You wanna use that the devs had little money and manpower to excuse it’s missing features and it’s technical issues, I present you with indies where things didn’t hold back a dev from including them and then you wanna cite apples and oranges. Vanguard Princess is indie fighter also a fighter created by a single person on a old as dirt engine, I can still set resolution and that game was as bare bones as it gets.
Your reading comprehension needs work. I never said I disliked the game. The issues is hampering my enjoyment.
