I hope they have something with either Azure of Chowdah.
Sorry for being away for a bit guys but I’m trying to prepare for Anime Weekend Atlanta and I’m trying to finalize having Seon King coming as my guest for the Video Game Department so that’s taking priority over things for me right now.
As I’ve stated before, I’m very concerned with this game reaching the goal at least although I would love it if it made it to the GGPO stretch. Other than that one week of promoting by the three commentators, we haven’t really seen nothing since. I truly do hope this game meets the goal (already donated my money).
5k comin their way for that stick
Seon King should probably stop involving himself with people who have super-casual interest in the game or don’t care about it at all. The US candidates chosen to promote the game and their “approach” on going about doing so has been, in my opinion, nonchalant and passive.
Take Jaxel for example: He didn’t bother to setup the game and sit down with it until a couple of hours before his fundraising stream began. Then when you consider the players who showed up: more than half of them never touched the game before that day and the rest had no fucking idea what they were talking about when attempting to tackle the intricacies of the system and characters. How are you supposed to effectively exhibit the game in this fashion?
Then you have the English commentators. Did any of them even bother to dive into the game after the fact of being announced as commentators (I believe only David did and probably very briefly). Where are the follow up videos to IDG campaign link spam on twitter? Something to display your interest in the game and showing proactive involvement with the game and its development would probably be a bit more productive than stuff like “Hey, these guys have reached $X and need to hit this target. Help out!” or “Support this game just cus!” or “I’m a commentator. Cool. Now donate”.
All of the above seems to be the trend among the “supporters” of Yatagarasu in general. I just find it weird that people want others to support the game’s development without first explaining what it is they enjoy about the game itself. I know jack-shit about marketing myself so maybe I’m missing something here…
blahblah edit:
Look at kusogekings. These guys have zero pull and no known status in the FGC and their putting in mad work to showcase the game in spite of that. UL’s of highlevel match play, system mechanics vid, hosting public netplay lobbies, keep up to date with active players of the current community - They’re really going in on this right now. More “supporters” need to follow suit if they really want this game to go somewhere.
I’ve tried messaging Two Best Friends Play to get this game out there and haven’t heard back from them yet.
…They seem hella casual lol. Do they even play fighters?
That was back in the early seasons when they playing exaggerated versions of each other. They did the same in the MVC3 video.
They’re pretty passionate about fighters and Woolie fought Daigo at Evo 2012.
They make a ton of fighting game references (especially Woolie) and frequently mention having long garou and 3s sessions back in college. Matt and Woolie once joked about recording a session of them playing and all people would hear is sweating and breathing because they’d be too occupied to speak.
WNF is supposedly running a “mystery game” tourney tonight and according to my twitter stalking, this game may be Yatagarasu. I think I’ll stay up a bit later tonight to see what happens.
Also
aka “Tataragi”. Strong Kou user, wild Hina user. Think he’s working on putting together quality streams in the near-future.
EDIT
…WAY off lol
Well, I donated. Here’s hoping they somehow make it to the GGPO stretch goal.
How’s the online for the game?
hiya-san streaming again. lots of players in the room today!
I’ve had a great experience with the netplay vs a player from a state away on a wired connection. Two other players on wireless, though, was a different story. To be expected, I guess.
Was watching a session of US players on their stream yesterday (about 4-5 players) and none of them had any complaints.
One player I chatted with complained of issues with others relatively close to him.
Results seem kind of inconclusive. Should just try it for yourself and see what happens (don’t expect results for cross-country play though). Again, the play was great for me (wired) and my net is kind of “meh” (not fios level but not complete trash either).
We’ll be doing weekly public lobbies on Tuesdays and Wednesday to spread word and support the game. Come watch, or come play. If one room gets full we’ll just make another. Come check out our channel, and follow the twitter too if you could. Thanks!
One thing I’m not liking in terms of mechanics.
Red Parrying is pretty easy and is very low risk. So long as you’re not mashing a Parry there’s little chance of you getting bopped. I was testing this against Jet’s 123 (cr.LK, st.LP, st.HP) and was able to Red Parry the HP pretty consistently and if I fucked up I still managed to block 9.9 times out of 10.
Also, if Chowdah does an EX air grab he’s put in a BLCH if he’s AA’d.
I’m not 100% on this but I think some ex moves, or perhaps some non-ex special moves too, will leave a character in BLCH state. I saw some instances of this pop up in some older match vids but it was rare. Guess this needs to be looked into more as well. Still a lot left to be broken down.
Also, in addition to Yatagarasu having an “anti-parry mash” mechanic, it seems that, according to my limited understanding of Jp, the jp wiki mentions something about how you have fewer active frames of parry if you attempt a parry from the “incorrect” state. Example being crouch guarding while hitting HBL to parry a leap attack. Need someone with a better understanding of jp to go in on that wiki :/.
I tested Red Parries while crouching and standing (doing High Parry) and saw zero difference.
They definitely need to tweak that and Parry while blocking in general.
18k left and 10 days to do it! Lets try for one more donation campaign push. Post it everywhere, tell your friends, put it in your sigs, and donate more! Lets make that push for ggpo!!
Chen and Ultradavid have done a terrible job of promoting this. Jesus Christ.
Looking forward to a successful funding. Just started getting into the current version of the game and I’m loving it.
No kidding. Hell. they have their own stream. How hard does it have to be. I’ve barely seen anything from the English commentators, a damn shame because this game should’ve been funded days ago. Thank god for KusogeKings/etc. putting out videos. Gonna be a slow grind the next 10 days at this rate.
UltraChen announced they’ll be doing a stream for YGS next Tuesday. I honestly don’t expect much from the upcoming presentation. A shame TS has no interest in the game at the moment.
