Test to make sure… But I always assumed it wasn’t since it was a divekick.
If the other guy randoms, which Ultra do you guys pick? I like 1 for the anti-air, though 2 seems a bit more comboable. At least easily comboable anyways.
tl;dr Ultra 1 or 2?
U1 for the better damage, punish, antiair and oki afterwards. U2 is solely vs fireballs.
Not really a practical question, but I was just curious. How many st.LP’s can you guys combo into? I’ve gotten a max of 6 by walking forward a bit in between each jab, but I was wondering if anyone can get 7 or more. The sub-forum is kind of dying, so just a bump to stir some activity.
yang walkspeed comparing to the fastest ones and the utility of his super?
What?
Yang’s forward walk speed is a tiny bit slower than the fastest tier of characters. His backward walk speed is pretty noticeably slower than Vega’s, but still squarely in the upper half of the cast on the same tier as Akuma and Bison.
His super is used for closing out matches with somewhat damaging corner combos, setting up hard to escape mixups, and reset gimmicks. Its relative usefulness is hotly contested among the 4 or 5 people who play Yang, because it typically doesn’t give guaranteed damage and he has several other important uses for his meter.
yeah, yangs second hit of air TC has the same properties as his dive kick. even has the 6 recovery frames
do u happen to know what it is on block? seems like a true string into cr.lk
Depends where you hit with it
yup depends totally on where the dive kick comes out at. if he starts diving where you normally get true strings into crlk, then it is. but i know ive air TC’ed a standing shoto with the first part hitting high, and had a DP squeak out before my crlk made contact
i think the air TC should keep the old dive kick frame data. this is somehing that will probrablly get overlooked tho
I’d very much like it to be, you know, a double overhead.
I only use it vs characters that the go to antiair option is a focus backdash at some angles (bison, rog and chun are the ones that come to mind). Otherwise it has little use for me, since j.hp has more blockstun and (i believe) it scales combos more due to the extra hit from an extra input.
Do you have a visual or audio cue for cl. MK after command grab? Is it right as Yang makes contact with the ground again?
In my opinion it’s the hardest link for Yang. I can do cl. MP, cr. MK, or MP palms FADC jab relatively easy, but I fail this one below 50%. As a substitute I do cl. HP xx roll kicks, but the launcher opens up more possibilities.
Learn to hit the cl. HP without plinking. If you plink the cl. MK then it’s the exactly same time you should be pushing the button since cl. HP after tenshin is a 2-frame link and cl. MK is 1-frame link.
Ok that might be a good approach, thanks
I dunno if it’s just me but doing all the slashes for the EX Mantis Slashes is pretty difficult IMO. Sometimes the non-EX ones too. Any tips for doing the slashes/rekkas better?
Also, cancelling from light attacks seem a lot harder to me than cancelling from a medium. Any tips?
You don’t need to do two button presses after the first ex rekka. Just use one button and you can do it pretty slowly.
Normally I will hit the last light attack like just abit slower den the usual light attacks.
Hard to me to explain in words but it’s something like
Cr.lk – Cr.lk — Cr.lk
Just ABIT slower
Well Yang can’t chain his c.LK, so speed isn’t the issue. c.LK into itself is a 2 frame link, and my best advice is to just understand the rhythm. Maybe play Bison a bit because he’s fundamentally the same in terms of the c.LK combo into itself, and cancel to special. but scissor kick being a charge move makes it easier to grasp the timing for your special cancel.
If anything, cancelling from a light attack should just be a faster maneuver than from a medium attack, but I believe his close fierce punch requires a 1 frame cancel (in the case you’re in super mode and doing the mid screen s.HP xx LK teleport loops) so I tend to be quick about my cancels regardless of the speed of the normal I’m cancelling from.
Quick question: what are Yangs pokes?
