Yang Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Well, the announcement of SSFAE2012 kinda of killed my interest in the character. I know he’s top tier and all, but I was performing way worse than with the regular characters and not knowing if he’ll be good in the next installment made the effort kinda meaningless. I think most of the people who were posting stuff here feel the same, and the character doesn’t seem as popular now…

I still check this forum regularly, but people ask the same questions over and over again. They won’t put the effort into checking for the answers, but wanted someone to take the effort to baby feed them.

That’s silly, you’re going to wait until end of year just to see what happens? Better off picking a weak character and hope he/it gets buffed for the sole reason that there’s already guides.

Yes, these are the least popular forums, congratulations; nobody knows yang’s match-up more than you.

I mean I’m learning Yang for ground zero, because dive kick characters are kinda inuituitive to me. I’d rather spend this time focusing on my other character and leveling him up rather than trying to be good with Yang when he might suck in a couple of months. My win ration with Yang is a good 20-30% lower than my Cody and Ryu.

What?

she was saying in general.

Quick question… what are some more possible options MID-SCREEN post rekkas - dash

I usually
A) What to see if my opp. jumps
b) see if they do a sweep or something on wake up and whiff punish with rekkas
c)build meter or fake palm (lp palm)
d) jump in (rarely)

Also i’ve been trying to see whats faster post rekka
LK COMMAND dash
or regular dash

Thanks , KAZE

Hey Kaze,
A) If they jump you have the option for S :mk: divekick, reset with S :lp: mix up with divekick or crossover with dash or :mk: for rekka pressure.
B) If they sweep it will most likely be at sweep distance, you can punish with :hp: rekka or go with C. :mk: into rekka, if you really want to take advantage of this try to use c :lk: and finish with slow :hp: rekka sometimes people will whiff their c attacks and you can easily counter with c :mk: and rekka.
C) I don’t do this unless I miss the corner juggle with a S :mk:, :mp: palm C :lk: into either fake palm for tenshin or :mp: palm for pressure
D) If I jump in it’s usually for a crossover.

I don’t use the mach dash often unless I am safe for mixup or going through projectiles from full screen. It’s easy to punish with sweeps and other moves as well. Yang is vulernable after the 15 frame invicibility and has 11 frames for recovery.

What do you guys do against players that just moves around so randomly? I try to concentrate on my spacing but some against some players, it’s just very difficult. A Juri player I was playing was just so random with their movements that I just couldn’t do that much damage.

Analyze. Yang is RTSD but if the person knows SF you just gotta respect their character a bit and go in.

Ok. Thanks. And by the way, what does RTSD stand for?

Rush that Shit Down.

Sometimes when I finish a combo in mk dp, I can cross up and do it again. But other times, when I cross up, the cross up will whiff and I get thrown. Is it my timing or is it a character hit box issue?

Is there any way to time a crossup j.mk after a mk senkyuutai better by whiffing a normal or something? I use it with much success against most characters, but against charge characters, especially Chun, Dee Jay, and Blanka, I’ve been getting hit by their EX reversal moves. I checked the frame data, and Chun’s EX sbk has a startup of 6 frames, so I should be able to safe jump it, but I keep getting hit. Is this setup just not very safe to begin with?

Hey guys, new Yang player here.

I’m having trouble with two things right now. One is initiating attacks and the other is getting people off me.

I don’t know how to start an attack other then jump dive kick, or with mantis slashes. And if either of them are blocked I get punished immediately, so I usually just wait for my opponent to attack me. Also, While I’m fighting and I feel like I can’t handle my opponents rush down, I don’t know how to get them off me other than jumping away, which usually doesn’t end well either.

What should I do?

You have two 3 frame normals, so use them as much as you can  Crouching short and standing short has a great range and you can easily hitconfirm with them into rekkas. You can also whiff punish with them, or with crouching forward. Your main way to get in besides divekicks is after a random knockdown. You can hang back, throwing out a couple of palms, or waiting for a neutral or a stupid forward jump and punish it with DPs, and after that, you can have your ways to get in  If you become predictable with your divekicks, you will die pretty fast. You can bait your opponent from half screen or farther on with a short divekick after a neutral jump. They will expect a careless get in attempt, so they gonna try anti air it, and you can whiff punish those anti airs. And you can poke them with standing fierce and roundhouse and after a couple of succesful ones, if they try to focus them, punish it.

Oh, and you can command grab them after a blockstring ofcourse. If they block your bnb, they expect that you gonna end it with a safe rekka, but you can ex command grab them after the two jabs. Or you can ex grab them after two blocked crouching short and etc.

Awesome, thanks!

Any advice on the viper match up? Like what normals beat burn kick or seismo? How to deal with her wake up pressure? Etc…

Simple question? What’s the best slash to use in block strings?

Lp slash or one ex slash. Lp slash is -2 on block.Ex is -1. After ex, you can follow up with a throw, command grab, or st.lk for mix ups.

What are Yangs most useful true blockstrings?
