I dont think it would be that bad. And besides, when do you see someone in a marvel tourney playin without storm? Its the same shit. And another thing, Charlie owns chun. Too bad cyc eats him up though.
I play the same way kinda… I don’t go for the easy infinite. I try for the impractical hard-to-do flashy combos and stuff. I won’t do Mag’s easy ass infinite… I’ll try his crazy-hard airdash combos. It’s fun, yes… But will I win a national tourney playing that way? Most likely NO.
We both know who is the better player if one uses an infinite to win. He is better at using an infinite to win than the loser. You might be better at NOT using infinites, but that’s not much of an advantage in a game where the point is to win. You might kick his ass all match and give up infinite opportunities because you don’t like them… If your opponent gets ONE, your character dies.
It’s all fun and games, play how you want. But in a national tourney people are DEFINITELY going to play to win and use every advantage (including one-hit-you-die techniques) because that’s what tournaments are about. Winning. You can’t really expect them to play otherwise can you?? You might WANT them to play the way you play, (i hate losing to mindless infinites myself) but hey… life sucks. right?
MvC2 more broken than XvSF? Hell, MvC was more broken than MvC2…
XvSF was all about Throw or Hit into Infinite into Dizzy into Reinfinite till Death, Guard Break incoming character into Infinite into Dizzy into Reinfinite into GGPO. Now tell me how the fuck can you get out of that shit if you get caught by it cuz of ONE throw or attack in the first place? Whereas in MvC2 you have at least 1 chance to escape if you get caught by a semi-infinite in the first place.
And I doubt any XvSF tourney will draw more people than MvC2 at any given time. Unless the sequels to XvSF didn’t exist, then we’d prolly still be playing XvSF to a certain extent. And hella people will get discouraged from attending tourneys because of One-Hit-Kills.
Bottom line: XvSF is more for fun play (like what SvC is starting to gear towards due to the revealations of infinites…), but don’t expect it to have a big scene for competition…
WTF!!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!??!!?
MvC2 more broken than XvSF?
WTF!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!
MvC2 isn’t even a broken game even in high levels of play.
???
why not just play the original street fighter too…
xmvsf is a game just to be played for fun but not tournament wise…when half the people have an infinite thats not very hard at all…how can you call mvc2 more broken??? it takes skill all except im’s infin.
All i know is that if Xmen is being played at EVO next year then i’m there. And i can garuntee you at least 7 or 8 of my others friends will be there as well cause theres still a huge xvsf following here in Tampa. I’m all for it.
If MvC2 is soo complex and isnt broken, then how come there are more glitches in MvC2 than in any other game COMBIND? MvC2 is a glitcher’s dream! We’re still finding new shit up in there! XMvSF has it’s good stuff, sure it’s easy to inf, but that’s part of the challenge. MvC2 is the same boring shit over and over in “higher level play”. Notice that JWong always wins? Nothing new happens, and people only play 5 people out of the 60+ chars you could play as. In XMvSF, there’s only like 2 or 3 chars you wouldnt see in a tourney, and that’s because the game has balance. Granted you could throw and inf into it, there are many ways to get out. Granted Magneto alone has probably 6 or more infs in XMvSF, they’re pretty much all in MvC2, and easier to do there. XMvSF has the flashy combos that people want, and the quick gameplay people need. Dont go calling XMvSF broken. If you want to see a broken game, go play Street Fighter 1. That shit’s broken. Akuma in ST? Broken. Magneto in MvC2? RAPE. I think personally, that XMvSF would bring a big crowd. Not as many as MvC2, but more than TTT or ST would. All i’ve gotta say, is give it a chance. I’m sure it would be a good game.
you make me proud
Alright lets put it this way. they are both broken and both fun to play. lets just try it out next year and see if it draws numbers like other tournys. im pretty sure it will. and yes if xvsf was there at evo i would have been there. and xvsf is a balanced game not cause of everyone having infinites but because everyone can win without using them and cause you can pick counter characters. granted you cant get out of an infinite, there are people who cant be infinited by a certain infinite. thus you pick a character against a certain character like in st. xvsf is broken but not that broken. at least everyone has an infinite thats easy to do. which makes everyone good to play, and playable at tournament level. not the same characters over and over at every tourny.
just a nitpick…
im pretty sure there arent guard breaks in xmen vs sf… i know they are in earlier versions of the engine and later, but i remember talking to omni and spiderdan and shit and they said that they were taken out in xsf?
There was mad comp for this game at Evo. It was tight, like 1996 all over again.

See, the fun thing about XvSF is that every char can pretty much hold their own in the game, there’s just so much possibilities, it’s not like 6-8 chars played all the time. Believe it or not, infinites make the game much more comboable, yes it’s true… Just try doing C.Fierce xx SJ.Short -> SJ.Strong -> SJ.Foward -> SJ.Fierce -> SJ.Roundhouse -> SJ.Short(OTG) -> S.Short, S.Strong, S.Foward, S.Fierce, S.Roundhouse, S.Short, S.Roundhouse, Fierce Throw -> S.Shortx3, Foward air throw with Gambit the corner on MvC2 or something, it’s just not possible. Of course you could go for the standard S.Short, S.roundhouse infinite repetition in FS mode instead of all that, Heh. All depends if you want to play “broken” or flashy.
And XvSF is perfectly tournament worthy, I don’t see how it isn’t. I see people these days going “Man, MvC2 is getting boring…”. Go to XvSF
Btw, there ARE guard breaks for XvSF. Example(with Charlie): Kill a persons first char, when the second char comes out blocking, do S.Strong, S.Strong in the corner… Boom, Guard is broken. The guard breaks in XvSF just aren’t as practical as in MvC2, but yes, they do exist.
Im all for xmen being at evo next year… its time to show everybody that bison is on the same level as storm/mag/chun.
No, you can’t guard break in XSF. You can air super jump out of GB attempts.
You obviously don’t know jack about the game. Guard breaks DO exist in XvSF. You can push block an attempt then DSJ(the air super jump) but GB’s are still there. Case closed.
Well said T. and yes there are guard breaks in the game. trust me ive done and had it done to me. they do work.
You guys know that Spiderdan is the best XSF US player, right? If he says its useless, thats a good chance it is…
Spider-Dan? Best US XvSF player? Don’t make me laugh. He’s supposed to be the best and doesn’t know you CAN in fact Guard Break in it? Well, first he said you can’t and then he turned it around and said they’re useless(I also said they aren’t as practical in XvSF but they DO exist and you CAN do them if you’re lucky). Oh well, I don’t really care for tourney results and such, there could be someone else better. And if he is the best US XvSF player it doesn’t mean shit to me . Thank you.
