Never change China, never change.
Okay, so since Tataki wanted a quick walkthrough, I’ll give a VERY basic run through of what I think was everything I had to go through.
First step is you need a QQ account from China so you can get a QQ ID number. There’s a QQ International, but I don’t know if you get the ID number there. You can sign up with US information, it shouldn’t be a problem.
http://zc.qq.com/en/index.html?from=pt
The next step is to get a beta key. The devs post them every day at like 3 in the morning PST (yes, I had to do this), and you should really stay up to be the first to grab one, because they go quick. That is located here:
http://t.qq.com/QQxuandou
The first link of the post with keys on it is the activation link, the second link is bullshit so don’t bother with it. You need to make sure you’re logged into your QQ account, then activate the game. Then download the 6.2.1 version of the game, which is the box to the right on the activation page.
After you download the game, install it, make sure you rename the install folder so it doesn’t have Chinese characters in it just in case, this gave me problems. Run the game and it will update. It failed a lot when I did it, but I basically just kept retrying and retrying until I brute forced the patch to actually download.
Once you get the patch updated, you click on the only server that is there and enter your log in info. It’ll bring up this screen that wants Chinese ID card info. It didn’t work for me. but there’s a link that is on that screen that you should click, which will take you to a website where you log into your QQ account again, then enter the ID info there, and it will accept it and allow you to play the game. Go back to the game, close out the box asking for your ID info, rejoin the only server available, and log in with your QQ account.
THEN the game should run. The big problem is finding ID info, but we might be able to make that work if none of the websites or programs care if we’re all using the same info.
3AM PST is actually a convenient time for me, so if you can get us past the ID part I have no problem fetching and activating codes for people at that time.
On the other hand, seeing people in this thread mention horror stories and recommend to avoid installing any QQ stuff on your PC, I don’t know if it’s worth it. o_O
I’ll tell you straight up, QQ installs a bunch of shit you probably don’t want. However, a couple things are pretty cool. There’s this program that’s like Pandora, except it’s mostly Chinese music. They’ve got a bunch of preset radio stations and it’s even got a built in karaoke feature. It’s fun if anything else, you might not care for long, but it’s not so bad. There’s also this antivirus/registry optimizer/drive cleaner/fucking magic program that I am in love with. I can’t read a fucking thing on it, but it fixed a bunch of errors I was getting and my computer has been running better than it has in some time.
So basically at worst you put up with downloading shit you don’t want. I can understand how it would be a deal breaker, but horror story, I’m not seeing it.
lol I see you have embraced the QQ with all your heart and hard drive. Can I put all that shit on one folder and uninstall it all with no problems? No known spyware etc.?
I’ll think about it once the ID problem is cleared and more people will successfully get their accounts running.
You can uninstall whatever you want, although it’s kinda handy to keep the IM installed, because when you’re logged into it all sites associated with QQ (including the ones for this game) will log you in with a single click, no extra navigation necessary. But you can get rid of everything once you get your QQ ID number and log in because none of it is necessary to run Flip Bucket.
I can also guarantee there’s no spyware. I assume the people who complain about QQ spyware are the same kind of people who call Google Chrome Botnet. I’m trying to help some more people in the KoF community get their accounts working, I’d be happy to help anyone else get their account setup.
Ok then. Keep us updated on the ID thing because I have no idea how to get something like that.
Well there’s starting to be some problems in that regard. I used the same one as cygnus and I somehow got it working, but I’m trying to help Phoenixnl get in and he’s using the same ID as Dandy_J, but it’s not working. It’s hard to tell if it’s an issue with that ID already being used or if the ID has been blacklisted.
EDIT: Apparently Phoenix had to get a new one. Again, not sure what the problem was, but either way it seems like getting more people in is going to be a slow process.
Just streamed some training mode stuffs, here’s the vid: http://www.twitch.tv/dandyj/b/320296372
Nothing fancy, but maybe interesting to those that wanna see all the chars and moves and stuff. Also the motions seem harder on stick than when I was messing around on pad before. It’s kind of got a kof98 thing on where you have to be really accurate. For example if you want qcf, if you do hcf it doesn’t work. May have been the program not liking my stick or something maybe.
i swear this site never updates me about the threads i actually care about! thanks for putting the videos up this game looks godlike, i seen it a long time ago on youtube then found a thread on here after googling it… You guys really think it’ll never make it to the states(preferable consoles because my labtop is shitty!)?
So should you download the game first or create your info? Or does it even matter the order you do it in?
Doesn’t matter, you can download the game without making an account.
edit: nevermind got it to work (i think). might update later.
It probably won’t ever leave China, but I wouldn’t be so worried just yet. My computer is pretty crap as well, but it runs the game just fine. You should at least try it what with it being free and all, what have you got to lose?
I think everybody needs to read that. It solves that ID issue.
I read that while I was trying to get my account verified and it didn’t really help me, hah.
Also, keys are given out at noon and 6pm in China, convert accordingly.
I started a conversation with you that you might want to take a look at.
recording of me fooling around in practice, lots of pausing because i’m filling the hardedge wiki and i’m answering questions. i try almost all the characters and look for combos and stuff.
i’m also uploading T.K. (Tsukikage Aragi, aka Freeman) combos right now on youtube, after that shanwoo. will update.
I don’t know how you could stand playing that Freeman dude, he felt so unfinished to me and half his animations hurt to look at they’re so choppy.

T.K. combos. shanwoo is next.
edit: yeah, he’s kinda boring, but since i used to play freeman, i went with him first. shanwoo is a LOT more fun, and could be quite strong in the right hands… then again, he clearly isn’t finished, his j.D and standing D animations aren’t implemented yet, for example.
