I’m pretty hype for this game i just hope its not as dissapointing as sfxt

They did. In mainland China, KoF is typically called Quán Dì (拳帝 Emperor of the Fist, son!) or even sometimes just KoF. Also less frequently Gedouzhiwang (格斗之王, look up your own tone marks :p). They have even another name for it in Taiwan, but who cares. :stuck_out_tongue:

So is there a beta available?

I think I managed to download the game somehow, but I absolutely cannot get the thing to even run. I tried applocale, I tried compatibility mode, I don’t get it. I’m not getting any errors or anything, but the game window never opens even though it’s supposedly running.

I don’t suppose anyone has it and can help?

Doubtful. Count how many Chinese games have had international releases.

Considering Tencent’s distribution system is based on a Chinese client, and the international version seems to have no intentions of updating to allow foreigners to download major game titles, it’s just straight up not going to happen unless someone (like Steam) approaches them to do the distribution. And considering the similarities to KOF, I don’t think any American distributor is going to touch them. Fighter’s History is still in the back of everyone’s mind.

And really, that’s Chinese educational standards. They almost take dumps on creativity, and expect every to fit the norm. Before, seemed like China was very creative, but that’s been hampered, I guess since the Communist takeover, for the common good, since not everyone is creative?

Sucks, because you’re right. This game is graphically stunning.

lol at me thinking “I’ve seen this animation before… and this one… and this one”

Any luck, HBReppa?

Never got it to run at all, but as it turns out it was just the demo anyways. The company gives out CD keys and I thought I entered one that worked, but it didn’t because before you can enter a CD key to get the game you have to set up an account on this Chinese blogging site related to QQ the instant messenger. Only problem is that to set up an account there, you need a Chinese cell phone to receive a text OR enter the information on your Chinese ID card.

So basically that’s where the problem lies in. If anyone can figure out a way to get around either of these required steps we might be able to get something going. I haven’t been successful in faking the ID info, so I think the best and most likely to succeed method involves the cell phone option.

Got it working thanks to Mr. Grimm! First impressions…it feels like KOF what a surprise. The game seems relatively simple, but fun. As far as combos go, there’s some more advanced things but there’s no coherent system really, everyone just kinda has their own shit that works combo-wise. Seems more about kof basics 98 style as everyone’s seen already. Since it is still in beta some characters still seem incomplete or designed in weird ways. I know for a fact some characters don’t have all their moves yet since there’s screens of new moves.

But anyway the most important thing is that the game uses some GGPO-ish rollback netcode. I played a China dude and there was no input delay, just lots of skipping around as you’d expect playing on GGPO with 300 ping. You can do 1v1 quick match, 3v3 quick match, training mode, or lobby room things. No offline mode, dunno if they are going to add it, since I can’t read Chinese but there are 5/8 game mode options not added yet. I’ll try to get a video up Sunday or something. Any requests of what people wanna see? Other than like just showing all the characters and moves and stuff.

You guys got it to work? Can you make a quick guide how to do it?

EDIT AGAIN: Apparently I brute forced the update. Now I just need to get ID info so I can log in finally.

I apologize for the double post, but I also got it working and can also record video. If you have questions I can do that too. Cygnus was not kidding, the online for this game is like shockingly good. Way better than just about every console game out right now.

Gotta love the originality.
