Xuandou Zhiwang, Chinese Free to Play fighting game (Currently in closed beta)

It’s kind of hard to imagine that they would make a character like that when they already have Athena and an O. Shermie type character. There wouldn’t be anything Guile or Remy could bring to the table that would be different or unique or even interesting.

That’s like saying why have Heidern in 02um even though Athena, Bao, and O. Shermie are pretty viable. Unless you really don’t like playing Heidern in 02um. On a different note, we could have a Guile, Athena, and O. Shermie team be available in Xuandou. whoplays1v1laughinggirls.jpg

Agreed well said if you can take something and make it better by all means go for it every fighting game made after Street Fighter has ripped something off from it this is nothing new they just made it a little more obvious but who cares a good game is a good game most of the game is original anyways

Well to be fair, SNK has like a hundred characters (also 02UM was basically SNK shoving almost every character they had into the game), where as all of the XD characters are being created from scratch (lol), so I don’t see why they would intentionally create a handful of overlapping characters. As is, there’s not a single character that overlaps another one and for the 16 characters they’ve created, that’s pretty god damn good. We know about the two guitar players bringing the roster to 18, and if the current character select screen is anything to go by, there’s going to be 6 more characters, and I don’t see them making rehashes of characters that are already in the game.

Also, 1v1 is by far the most popular game mode. It takes FOREVER to find 3v3 matches. Even when you look at the lobbies, most of them are 1v1 with the occasional 6 man 3v3.

Most probably when I get this game, I’ll mainly play 3v3 just so I can get a feel around as much of the cast as possible by just playing as many characters as I can per game. If it’s like KOF at all, it shouldn’t really take long to dissect a character on a basic level. Oh well. So tomorrow is the day for Keys?

Later today, actually. China is 15 hours ahead of PST, so at 9 AM it will be midnight, and probably 8-10 hours after that, the servers will go down and the update will happen.

Unfortunately, they’ve put up a new web page for the new update that has a ton of contests, but more importantly, a survey for everyone’s favorite randomly generated beta keys. I guess it won’t be open beta this time either, making this the second time Google Translate has got my hopes up only to have my hopes and dreams killed.

But… They don’t throw sonic booms at a machine gun rate and have flipkicks which leave a trail :confused:

New character Orochi Brazel.

He seems to be a playable character, but also looks to be the boss of the game.

i was just about to post this clip and the first thing i said when i seen him was Orochi Brazel
it says hes the BOSS dont know what its says but BOSS was in all caps and from the gameplay
he sure plays like one

I didn’t even see them talking about him, but the stage it was on was the one I posted earlier, also labeled BOSS stage. I wonder if this update will include an arcade mode or something, would be pretty interesting.

hows this game doing? controls feel any better or characters fleshed out?

Well besides Shan Woo getting turned into Candyland: The Character, everyone has been getting buffs and stuff. The movement feels better in the current version than it did and some of the command normal chains are easier to do/fuck up less, but is still pretty similar. cr.BA still has a delay though, but I think it’s intentional to actually get you to visually confirm instead of just mashing it out.

More like Orochi Brazel Bernstein 9999. He even has Rugal’s color palette, it’s cute. :smiley:

Arcade mode is definitely in, and this guy is ridiculous.

Guile and Athena/O.Shermie have completely different fight styles, so a good pressure charge character like Guile would be welcome.

Ameth (the O.Shermie character) is about as pressure heavy if not more so than Guile is because of her O.Yashiro tools, like her invincible command grab that she gets juggles off of, which set up incredibly hard to deal with high/low/crossup mixups. Also, she has Iori’s sweep, which doesn’t sound like anything special, but Iori’s sweep is incredibly fast and long range, great for punishing things but horribly unsafe on block making it a bad idea to just throw out. That’s fine and all, but in this latest patch, they gave Ameth the ability to command normal chain her sweep into f.A making it completely safe AND giving you a pressure situation.

She can easily play offensively or defensively as well as any character in the game who specializes in either field, she might not be a 1:1 clone of Guile or how his moves function, but if all you care about is a zoning character with pressure, it’s already covered. Unless you specifically want a change character, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Well yes, Guile’s charge design (with his fast recovery Sonic Boom, charge tricks and normals that move him forward, plus his extremely strong mid range game) are what make him unique. KOF charge characters in general just seem to have charge moves for the sake of input variety, not making full use of what charge moves allow you to do.

Anyways, looking forward to this game, but the closed beta thing makes it hard for me to play it.

I think the reason KoF doesn’t do that is because if you had plus on block fireballs with Sonic Boom startup with normals that moved him forward, which would most likely be command normals, you’d run into infinite block strings because of command normal chains. It would either be don’t give him command normals, which would mean he has nothing that moves him forward any kind of respectable distance, or make his fireballs have longer startup, which ruins his zoning game.

Either way, you’re probably not going to get Guile in KoF because his design simply doesn’t translate fairly to KoF, so what you do get is charge fireballs with stupid priority and hitboxes that you can’t throw constantly because of charging.

Guile’s forward moving normals are mostly not command normals, they just let you keep charging back while moving you forward. No reason that could not be done in KOF. Non-projectile charge characters also don’t make full use of charge properties either. There’s no ST Balrog or HF Blanka in KOF.

Sure, they COULD be done, but at best you’d be getting st.D moving forward and that would basically be it since KoF only has 4 buttons. Also, there’s no non-projectile dedicated charge characters in KoF period. If they don’t have a fireball they’re generally a hybrid of charge moves plus motions. If ST Balrog or HF Blanka were in KoF, they’d probably have half circle motions instead of charge motions.
