On further examination, I may also be behind in my class xp for some reason. Once again, comparing to my friend who is at the same point as I, is a level lower, and is almost done with his second fork on classes. Meanwhile, I’m a bit over half way through my first fork while being a level higher. :wtf:
Melee combos can start from any move that uses the melee weapon or vice versa when it comes to ranged.
Example: Dualguns
Using Ghostwalker > Executioner counts as a ranged combo and Executinor will get its own bonus and the passive if its equipped.
Javelin
Hair Trigger > Overwhelm counts as a melee combo, even though hair trigger is a green and overwhelm is a purple.
The time before a combo is dropped is pretty long. As long as it’s off cool down you easily have 2-4 secs to hit next art to keep your combo going. Really comes into play when you have the Passives like Fast Foward that reduce cool down of moves used in melee combos. At max level that’s 50% shaved off CD if combo is kept up.
Just got my first crushing defeat while inside of a Skell. I felt like a bad ass and overstepped my bounds and got my teeth kicked in for it. At least I bodied the assholes from earlier who were trying to ambush me in Oblivia when last I came to this area.
…So…got done upgrading my skell and upgrading the skell I gave to Alma. Put dropped a good chunk of change into both of them. I roll around in Primordia at the speed of sound and spot a Lvl 39 Tyrant Grex. I figure meh…I can take this guy but lemme take out his friends first. So I start the battle and things are ok…just 2 grexs…then the Tyrant gets involved. Still not so bad. SUDDENLY MY SKELL IS DEAD.
‘WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE FUCK!?’ pans camera around
Big ass flying Whale looking creature that’s fucking lvl 49: =D Is this a party that I wasn’t invited too!?
‘OH MY GOD…WHY!?’
This asshole came out of nowhere. He was flying around NOWHERE NEAR THE FIGHT and decided that he wanted to make himself known. This dick just cost me my 2nd insurance! Now I’m afraid to bring the thing outta the garage now.
Bleh, gained two levels all around, refitted my loadout for everyone, slotted up like hell… still gettin’ my ass handed to me by that same Ch 9 fight. Survivability seems to be my issue. My one closest-to-successful attempt still left me with the two major enemies, and everyone around me (even Lin) faceplants relatively early on. Sometimes I faceplant first. Gettin’ rather annoyed by this… :bluu:
You have to battle the two cat people? If so, I remember I had to level up to 40 for it, and I hired a scout. It was way easy after that. Spend a half hour with your skells at probe 315 on Oblivia and you’ll get there quick.
It is, yes. And I finally succeeded, by loading up my character with 6 Humanoid Slayer XX augments.
Of course, now I have to deal with [details=Spoiler]Skell Hell™, and that is really looking to be an insurmountable wall. If only 'cause the big skell once he’s alone goes fucking nuclear and there’s not a damn thing I can do to make it stop.[/details]
Right, but it’s in the same location aka the corner of the map.
Also, finally managed to deal with my issue. Just had to bite the bullet and give my other guys skells. I don’t like doin’ that ‘cause they are fuckin’ suicidal with 'em. I’m not made of money!
Thanks to well timed vacation days, I’ve put over a hundred hours into this game… still haven’t gotten the flying stuff yet because I’ve been mainly fucking around with other affinity quests and shit. I am about level 33 - 34 right now I think, but after fucking with the other two branches, I’ve started messing with the Enforcer line, I know the knife is a shit weapon, but I would like to have the healing shit on standby if needed.
So much to potentially grind if you want to in this game… I love it.
Also, I have experienced some of the shit in Oblivia you all were talking about in regards to jump scare bullshit enemies, a fucking canyon full of the alert motherfuckers, thankful I had my skell at that time to drive my ass the fuck out.
