xbox or xbox 2?

it’s been quite awhile since i legally purchased a video game…

I was gonna buy an xbox, but then i heard something about an xbox 2, so now i’m not sure whether i should wait for xbox 2 to come out or just buy an xbox 1 now. from what i’ve heard, xbox 2 is coming out in 2005.

i heard that with xbox live, there is a problem where people would play u in a rank game, but right before they lose, they would unplug and that would cause a lost for both players. if this issuse is resolved in xbox 2, then of course i would rather have an xbox 2 instead of 1.

however, i am mainly interested in capcom fighting games. now from what i’ve heard, capcom isn’t making anymore fighting games, so if xbox 2 isn’t gonna have CvS2 or 3rd Strike, then there’s no point of me getting an xbox 2.

i’ve also heard that xbox games won’t be compatiable with xbox 2. so from the perspective of a capcom fighting fan who wants go to LIVE, which console would be a better choice?

word on the street is xbox 2 is a connection into xbox, like what sega did with it’s shit.

you mean like the sega saturn?

The Saturn was an individual console, I think that he’s referring to the Mega/Sega-CD and 32X add-ons, never heard that news myself but I don’t keep myself updated on console news before release, I just buy them when I can lol.

At the earliest, you won’t see xbox 2 till around November 2005 (for the holiday season). So your looking at about a year. Might as well get an xbox and enjoy all it’s got to offer… which is, a lot.

The rank issue you mentioned is only with CvS2 (and other Capcom games?). And anyone who’s worth a shit is known by name anyway. Rank don’t mean much. If you play games to increase your rank your playing for the wrong reasons, because really, nobody cares. Nobody’s going to go, “oooo your Rank whatever!”.

To the best of my knowledge, xbox 2 will not be an add-on to xbox. I would assume it’s backward compatible with xbox 1 games but that hasn’t been confirmed yet (that I know of).

Have you been naughty or nice? Maybe Santa cares about that when delivering Christmas gifts but we here at TeamXbox have a present for you regardless. You can wait until Christmas night to open your gift or keep reading for what might be the very first real info on Halo 2 Directors Cut.

OXM was the first to report about Halo 2.5 revealing that the game is planned as an Xbox 2 launch title but now youre going to read the very first details, straight from one of our most trusted sources:

Halo 2.5 will be an Xbox 2 launch title and is going to run in HDTV resolution with new, improved textures and graphical effects. All the stuff that people expected from Halo 2 but didnt make the cut will be there.

Although our source didnt specify which HDTV resolution the game will run at, HDTVs lower spec is enough to get excited. Can you imagine Halo 2 running at 1280x720?!!! We also wonder what was meant by all the stuff people expected from Halo 2 but didnt make the cut. With this kind of top-secret info, you dont ask; you simply listen. We cross our fingers that this will include online co-op, more multiplayer maps, and the final conclusion to the Halo 2 story.

The technology that powers Halo 2 has been designed from day one to take advantage of the next generation hardware, the insider added. In Halo 2, the Xbox was pushed to its limits but now the game will reach new heights with the advanced hardware.

But that is not the only info our insider had for us as soon after he dropped the bomb: Now, here is the twist. Halo 2.5 will come preloaded with the optional HDD. Itll be one of the two reasons to get the Xbox 2 that comes with a hard drive. The other reason well, youll just have to wait

Sounds crazy to us but thats what we have been told. Interestedly, if this is true, the rumor confirms the existence of, at least, two editions of the Xbox successor. Last month, we reported about the supposed Microsoft plan to release three versions of the Xbox successor. Although never in console history has an add-on sold enough to represent a large percentage of the install base, the inclusion of Halo 2.5 would probably sell millions of hard drives and/or other peripherals that includes this special edition.

And supposedly, theres still one other reasonwhat could that be?

I hope it’s an add on. I just bought it on the 27th.

if xbox2 is not backwards compatible then get the 1st

still… capcom may re-release all of their fighting games on the xbox 2 also. like how for awhile SF3 was only available for the DC.

You mean continue the saga on the XB? I’m not a fanboy but when Sega had no console in fashion Capcom decided to go with Sony to continue releasing their games, having observed Capcom’s activity with the X-Box I’d say its more likely that we’d be seeing PS2 ports.
