Is this better?

I know this thread has been dead for awhile, but I’m having the exact same problem with a used controller from ebay, except mine is stuck going to the right. Here’s what I tried:

Replaced the potentiometer with 2 10k resistors, nothing.
Put potentiometer back in, twisted to the left to possibly counter the controller reading it as right, nothing
Checked resistance for both my x and y axis on the left stick, they both had about 5.4k ohms, right stick had about 4.2k x and y at neutral. If both x and y axis on the left stick have the same resistance, why is isn’t it going up/down as well?
Completely disconnected the X axis from that large black chip, still nothing.
Updated firmware on controller, nothing.

I read some discussion, but never really saw an answer to this yet.

I’ve done the X1 mod before on another stick with a similar problem, but that was just as simple as removing the potentiometers.

Any help would be amazing! Thanks

Do the other buttons respond normally?

Yeah, everything else is fine.

I feel like I had this problem and it was due to cable length but don’t remember. There’s no reason the analogs should hold that direction unless they are stuck in that direction physically or there’s something else electronically wrong. Is this in a dual mod configure? Does this happen when by itself?

I have no cables attached. I haven’t even put it into the stick yet. It’s just a wireless X1 controller and it’s doing this.

Razer Wildcat

They look expensive and no 360 mode

Especially that Razer Pad

Well it has been past a lot since the last time i posted here on shoryuken :ohstop:

So, i’m trying to get working a dual mod installation between a madcatz ps4 te2 pcb and an official xbox one pad… so, i was able to get almost all the thing working using a dpdt to switch between boards… but so far i got three two one issue:

  1. On ps3/ps4 mode, Home Button is always pressed
    2. I can’t get the friggin triggers working on xbox one mode
    3. When i use ps3/ps4 mode, all buttons and directions on the stick works good (except for the home button issue), but when i change to xbox one mode, the directions are inverted :S (left is right, up is down and vice versa)

So there is any advise or protip of what i should be looking for?
Thanks!

edit: i figured out the LT & RT connection now.
edit2: the pins on ā€œsanwa silentā€ pcb, needs to be facing to the left for a proper installation (my fault!)

You probably soldered your home and ground Pins together on the mcz pcb

And your directions are backwards on the xb1 pad

Thanks!

Actually the only gnd wire from the mcz pcb is the one used to connect the two pcb’s (the same for VCC/5v), what else i can look in the home button signal??

Yesterday, i do some tests and if i remove the gnd cable between boards, the home button is released, but of course if do that, when i press a button on the stick i got random press in other buttons.

So, today i will try:

Use some diode for the home signal
Use a secondary dpdt switch for vcc and gnd cables on xbox one pad

You can’t remove gnd for those reasons. Like I said, you probably shorted gnd and home on the PS3/4 pcb. Show pics of the back please.

Thanks vicko, today when i get home i will post pics of the wired pcb’s to show more details.

Just make sure these aren’t bridged

Wow, great picture!

Looking at that image i have a few questions for you:

  • The ā€œswitchā€ wire with the diode, it’s used for…?
  • At the center (near to the directional signal pins) there is a ā€œresetā€ spot, do you know what is the purpose for it?

Thanks again!

  1. switch is for switching consoles. if you were to use an MKX pad, you could wire the mode up to the switch on the TE2 pcb so you can switch ps3/4 and 360/xb1 from the built in switch.
  2. No clue, disregard

Thanks Vicko!

So, as you request i take a photo from the bottom part of mi wired mcz board and here it is:

Well, today i check with my multimeter if the home button was bridged somewhere and it really isn’t, so to work with more flexibility, i dissasemble the top part of the stick to gain access to the top pcb wich has the contact for the home button (also the lock button, ps3/ps4 mode, etc), while the usb cable was connected to my computer, i disconnect the CN8 harness from the top pcb and the surprise was the home button was released!..
Then to check, i reconnect the CN8 harness again and if you guess right, the home button was stuck again!.. so i figure it out the top pcb has some kind of issue, talking to a friend he recommends to use a diode for the home button were the signal is stuck, and that was the soluction in fact!:

After reconnect all the harnesses and reassemble the controller, the result was:

So finally i got this dual thing working properly, yay!:

Looks bridged to me. Should clean it up rather than mask it
