is it ok to glue anywhere on the board??
Thanks !
That picture answers all the questions
Yes. Just make sure your done working where youâre going to glue and not to cover any contacts you might still need to work on.
Question. When sometimes when I play I feel like there is a delay on my stick when jumping backwards when on player 2 side. Or forward when on player 1 side. Sometimes when holding back and moving the stick to the jump back position it does not jump back and I have to go to default position and then press the direction. Happens every now and then. Should I re solder my inputs for those? Maybe not getting a strong connection? Or can it be the harness between the wires coming from my pcb connected to the ones from my stick.
Itâs a silent sanwa stick if that helps.
If i want to use the usb cable that is already on my VS stick and ditch the Xbox 360 board, will it work if i cut the wires and connect them to VCC, D-, D+ and GND ?
There is a fifth wire called SGND ? 2nd ground ? What to do with it ?
reread this entire thread, as well as any basic soldering guides. This has been answered over and over in this thread already
Yes. The wattage determines how much heat the resistor can handle.
Yes, you can connect directly to the corresponding points.
SGND is the insulation in the cable that is soldered down to the board to help with static/noise dispersion. Just connect it to any ground point along with the other GND wire.
To add to Vickoâs reply, youâll need to add 33ohm resistors to the D+ & D- line if connecting to the points.
To make if easier, Iâd recommend getting a micro usb cable (short is fine) and cut it down then connect the cut end to the end of the VS stick usb cable and just plug the micro end into the pad.
Sounds like its the stick itself. Iâd check that you mounted it evenly (assuming you had removed it) cause the shaft might not be hitting the switches right
Good advice , will do
I will be attempting this mod in the next few days. My only questions are the following:
Will I have an issue using a Tekken 5 tenth Anniv. Fightstick? I will not be dual modded or have any other PCBâs. Xbone stick exclusively.
How can I get the guide button installed? Can it be done? Can I wire both the start and select buttons from the original stick to make it the guide button when both are pressed at the same time? Or should drilling a hole be easier and just solder some wire?
Awesome tutorial and thanks in advance for any help.
Does anybody know what the black stuff is? I a wondering if there is a chemical that will dissolve it while keeping the metal underneath in tact for a cleaner surface to solder on. This would make pad hacking easier.

You wonât be able to get S+S=H without adding any additional PCBs or logic; that was a feature put into a lot of the custom boards (Cthulhus, PS360s, etc), and thereâs no official controller/PCB that has that functionality.
Youâre better off drilling a Home buttons somewhere on the casing and wiring directly to that.

just scrape it off gently with an exacto knife.

a separate 24mm/30mm button in the side of the stick would be best. get a drill bit and have at it
Alright guys and gals just wanna say thanks to everyone that helped this noob out!! Successfully dual modded my 360 TE stick to work on XBONE I had a lot of fun doing this and would like to do it again soon.
And to any other beginners out there thinking about doing this, I say go for it! Read through the thread, ask questions, and go slow! I had few mistakes but nothing major and if I was unsure of something I asked here or looked it up.
Thanks again modders you guys are great! Now time for some KI!
In surgery at the moment. Iâll keep you guys/gals updated. Ahhhhh scary
Seriously when you think about this mod, all you are really doing is extending some signals. Thats it

That black stuff is carbon. Its a Carbon compound to make the surface oxidation free for a good contact with the rubber dome carbon and complete the circuit.

Just came in today!
Got a Limited Edition Namco Tekken Hybrid TE Stick for PS3 during Black Friday for $59.99 @ Namco Bandai. Gutted the PS3 PCB and Hacked the Xbox One Pad. Replaced the home button with the chrome button from the Pad. This thing looks totally official!
Almost done. I was only able to test the directional movements and they worked. Tomorrow I will ground everything else and test out all the buttons. Question for you pros. I was able to scrape off the black stuff and tin them. I did use a little bit of flux and after I was done putting some solder on top of the exposed copper the solder was barely visible. The wires I attached to those points did stick but Iâm afraid that they may not have a good connection. Would the tinned wires stick even though there wasnât very much solder on there to begin?
Made up my mind and this is the way i will go :
- Cut the usb cable thats on my VS stick
- Solder a male usb connector to the VS cable
- Solder a female usb connector to X360 pcb
- Solder a female usb connector to short micro usb cable, connected with xbox one pcb
This way i can put the two female usb connectors out of sight in the cable compartment and connect the VS cable to one of the female usb connectors i need, X360 or Xone
A lot cleaner than walking around with 2 cables and the possibility to remove the cable for easy transporting.
Best might be to use a switch but i got this stuf lying around here so this will do for me
