Xbox Live Stats/Ranking

How many of you really care about the stats/ranking on Xbox Live?

I for one don’t care if my stats are horrid or good. I just play the game. But I have had many occasions where I challenge a person who has a fairly high stat ranking just for the fun of it. And they decline the challenge and using the Mic I hear “haha why waste my time with some one like you and your stats” mind you this is 1-2 days after I activated my Xbox live account. So my stats were obviously 0 - 0.

This includes droppers and everything else, is it that important that you keep your stats high on Xbox live? Is it going to help you get into a League of Extraordinary Gamers or something? There has got to be something motivating them to keep these high stats at any cost. What do they do if they get challenged in real life?

Droppers = uplug their own joystick just before they die, shut off the power. and quit the game, walking away.

People with high stats that get challenged = look away and pretend they don’t know what’s going on.

I never figured out why people try so hard to keep their stats at a moderatly high level. I guess people only play the games to maintain a high level of ranking instead of actual gameplay I only say this becuase I haven’t had many full matches. They usually get near the end and the other person quits. Or they just decline the challenge all together. My stats are pretty low right now since I always stay even if they beat me 3-4 times in a row. But as soon as I am about to win they quit. I get robbed from having a full fun game. :tdown:

Times have changed.

Any of you agree? Better yet if any of you have any comments feel free to share.

I dont meh…I just wanna play !
I also drop if someone really starts to play like total shit…following things are just fucking retarded.

  • roll X 2000000 through EVERYTHING
  • Jump back and forward+fierce kick and nothing but that
  • EX chain combo(fags play without EX and we’ll see who wins)

I dont care about it,I just joined up tonight and played DOA ultimate,that was fun but I have to learn to counter better :rofl:

I will play CvS2,MK deception,GGXX#R,DOA Ultimate,Halo 2. I play Ninja Gaiden too and will play Prince of Persia 2,Doom 3,SvC chaos and others.

any suggestions for a newbie on live? my gamertag is QoC

Hey QoC.

Main thing is don’t drop. Thats pretty much it.

We should get some games in 3rd Strike going. My character of Sean feels a bit out of shape. he needs a work out

Add me to your friendlist if you are interested

I dont have 3s for it yet,I heard I can play it on my xbox without a chip,is that true? If it is I will order is asap. otherwise I can play you in the games listed above.

I belive in a fair game,so I will never drop. Someone did that to me in MK deception last night,I hate that. If he would have known I was a woman,he probally would have done it faster:rofl:

True. Yeah you can play 3rd Strike without a chip you just need to import the all region one. (I’m unsure if they are still selling it I heard they had them recalled becuase CapcomUS was losing money due to the CapcomJP was smart enough to make theirs all Region.)

I can play you in any of the following games;
Dead or Alive Ultimate
Capcom vs SNK 2
Guilty Gear XX #Reload
Halo 2

If you are able to get 3rd Strike the All Region one (aka the Japanese version) then we can play that. Here are some sites where you might be able to get it. Lik-sang.com, Play-asia.com

I live in Utah. The only way I figure I’ll ever develop a good rep as a legitimate high-level player is if I’m showing up near the top of the rankings, because I can never make it to tournaments outside the state (and it’s really hard managing tournaments here in Utah because the player pool, while deep, is pretty spread out).

I can understand about having a High Ranking Offline, but online with Xbox Live might be a completely different story. There are many things to consider when playing online that could affect offline play which could distinguish the winner easily. (e.g. Lag, Latency, and fighting tactics that don’t work Offline)

I never viewed anyone on Xbox live with high stats as excellent players becuase one does not know how they managed to beat so many people. It could have been a handful of fighting techniques they learned online to defeat any one online. But don’t get the wrong idea, I’m pretty sure they are good players that know what they are doing. But sometimes there are really low pathetic characters that do pathetic tactics and they are ranked as high as the actual good characters. It’s hard to determine which is who. Out of the good players who deserve the title and pathetic characters that found a way to get ranked high by just dropped on everyone and only staying when they win and find they have higher wins than loses.

I’ve come across my share of players from Online games then fight them offline, They beat me online, I beat them offline. I get comments such as;
“What the? I did Blankas roll move, how come you were able to block so quickly after wake up? It works on you online all the time!”

Key word there is “Online” Offline is a whole new game.

So you live in Utah, attending Utah State aye? I’m attending Boise State. My elder brother lives in a city/town nearby, called Midvale. When I go to visit him some time soon perhaps we could arrange a meeting and be able to get some games going.

Fighting Games I am currently playing.

I’m so-so in Capcom vs SNK 2;
Team- Kyo, Dan, Kyosuke -P/K groove

I’m mediocre in Street Fighter III 3rd Strike;
Character- Sean -SA 2

But my specialty is in Guilty Gear XX #Reload from what I heard
Character- Sol

Later

Rest assured I’m not a scrub, nor do I fight people any differently online than I would off. I’m not one of these noobs who only stepped up when online play came along.

Anyway, here’s what I play…

SvC Chaos - Dhalsim, sometimes Ryo, want to learn Mr K.
CvS2 - K:(Geese/Rugal)-1/(Ryu/Guile)-1/Dhalsim-2
3rd Strike - Makoto-I, Ken-III, Alex-I, Ryu-II, Gouki-I, Chunli-II, Hugo-II, Necro-whatever, Yun-III
Guilty Gear XX #Reload - Sol (I don’t really think I’m that good, but my friends say otherwise.), want to learn Testament
Super X - Dhalsim, Guile, Ryu
Zero 3 - Z-Dhalsim, Z-Ryu, Z-Gouki

If you can make it up to Logan (which isn’t all that close to Midvale), I’d love to have a weekend set with you on something. Preferrably something on the Dreamcast, so we can break out my sticks.

Anyway, 3rd Strike is my main game, with SvC Chaos in 2nd temporarily. Since our proficiencies differ, we’d probably just end up beasting each other on our respective home turf (game).

thanks,i will try those. I will PM you when I am about to go online and what game I will be playing.
Last night this one guy had Kobra in MK deception and did some cheap shit with him,never seen it before. Learned my lesson on that one :rofl:
its true about that game being lag free on live. It played like the guy was sitting next to me on the couch. I have yet to play someone on a quick match in CvS2 and GGXX#R,I tried but no one was on :tdown:

about CvS2: I will not play against EO users,I cannot stand it my ass learned the old fashioned way :tup:

DarkCatalyst;

Logan? What a shame, my brother lived there just before he moved too Midvale. Dreamcast would sound fine. Thats what I play my games on currently. And if I might add, that is one very NICE setup you’ve got there with the sticks. It even has adequate elbow room. (always a plus) Perhaps if giving the opportunity we can try out some games on XBox Live just so you can see how pathetic I really am. Go ahead and add me to the ole trustworthly friendlist.

Queen of Combat (QoC);

Sounds good, I myself don’t enjoy EO users either. I learned the hard way as well. a PM would be ideal for whenever you want to get some games on (Evenings work best since thats when the speed is best due to less activity of internet use, which in term would mean less lag and delay on both sides. Also thats when I usually play you know Work and all) Also if I’m correct QoC I’ve seen you in DC++ you also got yourself a very nice stick from the picture I leeched. I plan on getting one built as well. I’ve been mooching off different things, Using gamepad most of the time but on 3rd Strike I have finally used a MAS stick that belongs to another fellow SRK member Ianja. (FYI he’s a very very good player I’ll try to have him join us in the Xbox Live Community)

I look foward to playing you both. DarkCatalyst, on a side note Ianja, Toodles and myself are planning of gathering some local friends from Wash. and some from Provo Ut. in a gathering here in this town of ours for a friendly casual tournament in the future. If you are interested we’ll keep you in touch with new updates of what is going on.

If I can get a ride, and it’s on a weekend, hell yes I’m interested. I’d like to round up some of the regulars here in Utah, but considering how things have been of late, that’s probably not very realistic, so I guess it’ll be just me.

Hell, maybe this can be a way to revitalize the local scene. I never even thought about injecting Idaho players into it (though the thought absolutely should have came to me). If you guys can make the occasional trip to Logan or Ogden or SLC or something, maybe we’ll finally have a big enough playerbase that we can start holding tournaments again. We had a pretty good thing going over here a couple years back (Regenesis, though small, was the best Street Fighter gathering in Utah in about 7-8 years; seven players, Z3 casual play, 3S APEX tournament, pizza, then CvS2 APEX tournament), and it’d be great if we could recapture that.

As for the nature of our scene, we’re mainly 3rd Strike and Namco country, although I myself play a little bit of everything. If you want to get into 3rd Strike (and there’s really no time like the present), Ernie Thompson and I could get you into the basics and maybe show some of the more advanced stuff by example (I just suck at breaking high-level play down into words).

Keep in touch bro.

DarkCatalyst;

Thats what we plan on doing, is getting the ole tournament scene back. 3rd Strike is my Secondary game on the side, I do well in that game if you want competition you need to fight agaisnt Ianja. He’s pretty crazy, Namco is fine, if you play Soul Calibur. Toodles is the one you want to fight against. AS for me I just do a little of everything but Guilty Gear XX #Reload suits my fancy if you want competition. Also it’s the only game I use a Gamepad in. Every other game I use Stick.

We’ll be sure to keep you in touch and updated with anything new that comes up for this tournament. (Pizza sounds swell, Ianja suggested the same course of meal) Ianja is going to try getting some players from Reno Nevada to come up and some from Colorado (but he said the chances might be 2-5 of that occuring–Be optimistic though it could happen) We will make this happen and make it a reoccuring ordeal that will happen every couple of months.

man if fighting games had the kind of ranking halo2 does i would just read all day.
