Hi all. I have a cronus max that I wrote a script for smash bros such that I can use a brook universal pcb to control the game. Right now my setup goes from cronus max
I can provide extra power to the cronusmax if need be with it’s side prog usb port, so that’s not an issue.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Do I need to buy an Damned decoder for this, or is there a simple shortcut for gamecube controller pinouts that I don’t know about? I know that RJ45 cables can go to the gamecube. Is there some simple wiring I can do to go from usb to rj45 to gamecube?
RJ-45 is just a plug, not a signal format. An RJ-45-to-Gamecube cable just means that it’s RJ-45 on one end, and Gamecube on the other, with straight wires in between. No conversions of signals anywhere.
Gamecube ports won’t take a UFB’s USB signal no matter how you cut up and convert the ports. You’ll need an actual conversion.
You’ve already pretty much narrowed down your options:
use a different PCB (like the MC Cthulhu)
Find a USB-to-Gamecube adapter
Build your own using a UD-USB and a Gamecube-compatible PCB
Do those older PS2–>GameCube adapters work with the GameCube/Wii adapter users for Smash?
I remember I had a couple of nice ones for CvS2 back in the day. They’re stashed away somewhere.
Ok, so it looks like the teensy will do usb hosting. We can use this github project to connect to the teensy with an OTG cable. From there we can program it to go directly to a PS2 out or an RJ45 cable by matching the pinout from this

The RJ45 cable seems ideal as it would allow any existing rj45 to ps2 cables to work with it.
If anybody is willing to test this out, I will buy all the parts and send them to you (teensy, female rj45 receptor, rj45 cord, rj45-ps2 cord: you must provide your own xbox controller). Then we can enable all USB to 4th gen consoles.
@GOGO.Zippy@Brook_Engineer I’m testing it right now, and the Brook universal adapter isn’t recognizing the Cronus Max which is running the script I need to control Smash brothers with a fight stick. I’ve tried setting forced mode of the cronus max to both 360 and xbox one output, but the adapter isn’t seeing it, even when I plug the adapter into a computer. I’ve also updated the firmware of the brook universal adapter and the cronus max.
Can’t, it has the script which does the digital to analog conversion for smash bros 4. Unless I can get my hands on the Brook firmware and program that myself, I’ll have to go back to using the Max gear cross fight 2.0.
Hey @Brook_Engineer what are the chances you’ll hire me as a contractor for free to add functionality to your firmware for the brook universal fight board to control smash like platformers? I have a cronus max script to control smash bros which uses your L3 and R3 pin-outs to modify the analog output for both the analog stick and the c-stick. I’d love for this setup to gain traction and would be happy to record a video of how this works if you are at all interested. Here’s my linkedin
