Oh best believe I already banged every willing gypsy at the same time LOL. Unprotected too. Ching ching
Also, when I came some from work, I immediately went to go slap the shit out of my wife for having a kid, but when I got in my house, there was a guard standing next to my bed. So I just killed her on the spot cause I know what that bitch was up to. 500 gold fine is a small price to pay for justice
It’s also a bit interesting that one of the bandits there were stronger and able to use magic.
And here we have Postal 3: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-10-postal-iii/702986 Couldn’t they have put in a bit more time and hard work into this? Come on now, just look out how underwhelming this trailer is. What’s up with the visuals? This almost looks like something from 2 console generations ago. I’m betting they’ll have the audacity to release this for the full 59.99.
Lately my xbox live has been acting up. I’ll have been signed in for a while, then I’ll go to check my achievements and it will say zero points. I’ve noticed I have updated a game both times this has happened. So I’ll have to logout then log back in and they’re there. Anyways, I was playing Forza 3 and I completed Year 2 and didn’t get the achievement for it. Is there any way to go back and get it? I’m trying to play the last race of that series but it doesn’t look I’ll have any luck.
New Lara Croft game is quite nice. Shooting in a TR game is actually fun now. Cutscene graphics are really good, but then again the game is 2 GB. A good change of pace & so far I prefer this to Underworld (hopefully Crystal Dynamics can re-tool the old TR fomula to be on par with Uncharted).
Tomb raider is totally worth the points. The controls are bit floaty, like they just kept the old movement and pushed the camera to isometric. I like that you can get all these hidden artifacts that boost your stats. Supposedly there’s a ton of weapons, too.
It looks more fun then I thought it would, though I’m more interested in the platforming and puzzle sections since the head of development said in GI he wanted it to be equal parts action, puzzle, and platforming separating each section.
It’s the best game in the Summer of Arcade. Though I do want to point out some things!
You don’t get to unlock any achievements in the demo. You’ll probably meet the requirements for like three of them right during the first level but the game doesn’t act like every other XBLA game and tell you that “Hey, you’ve got an achievement. If you buy the full game it’ll be added to your gamerscore.”
There is a glitch in the demo. A restart the level glitch to be exact. During the flaming trap puzzle it’s possible and I don’t know how, to end up on the other side of the door when respawning even though the door is still locked. If you partner ends up over there too then you’re screwed as the game won’t trigger you to move to the next level.
Now for fun things to try with a person.
Play it with someone. The co-op reminds me a bit of Zelda the Four Swords where you work together to solve puzzles and defeat enemies and fight hard to get loot. Hopefully the online will be solid at the end of September.
Super Jump: Have Totec raise his shield and have Lara stand on it. Have Totec jump and have Lara jump too. You’ll go much much higher than normal and is a great way to grab the Red Skull after the fire trap puzzle.
Big Ball Attacks: Use the heavy weight of the balls to your advantage. Roll them into baddies!
Tight Rope Walking: It seems the tight rope doesn’t need to be at a level angle. One of the last traps in the demo forces you to use it at an angle. Interesting.
Bob-ombs: I like to use bombs during combat. That’s all.
Do the extra puzzles. They are fun.
I’m impressed with the game and it’s nice that so many of the cool moves from the last three games have made it in here.
Conclusion of the Summer of Arcade*
Limbo: Still haven’t finished it by choice. I really want to get past this really hard puzzle before beating the game. Impressed with the visual aesthetic and love the sound design but this game should have been 800 points. It’s very well done and to me it’s better than Braid.
**
Hydro Thunder Hurricane: ** Started off as wicked fun but once you’ve unlocked most or all of the events the game has reached it’s peak. Which is a bit too soon in my eyes. I just walked by my local mall arcade (one of the last around here) and H2Overdrive was there. I looked at it from afar and from a gameplay stand point it looked more exciting. What with the tricks you can perform and hot air balloons. If a sequel was ever made for Hurricane the team should look at making a deeper experience besides holding down turbo and hitting jump at the right time. Game is totally worth 1200 points though. The online ain’t bad either.
**Castlevania Harmony of Despair: ** Like everyone has said, you’ll either love it or hate it. My problem is that I love Castlevania to death and back again but this game I do sorta hate at times. The biggest problem with the game is that it shouldn’t have come out this year. Shank should have been in the Summer of Arcade or something else. This game is an obvious rush job. If given a year in the lab I bet we would have had a real story, better explanation of how to play, local co-op option, better graphics, etc. As it stands now it feels more like an experiment. The strength of the game lies in playing with another person. Period. Farming for items can be a fun experience but with that being the only incentive to keep playing all the other flaws become even more clear. This should have been 800 points.
**Monday Night Combat: ** I’m still learning about this game. It has potential. The frame work is there for something great, much like TF2 started off with a little bit but has since exploded with so much to do. I hope that MNC follows the same route. It could definitely need more maps. Totally worth 1200 points. It’s a hefty next gen game! Go third person shooting tower defense army building game!
**Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light: ** It’s the best game out of the bunch. It’s so fucking well done. It achieves such a great balance between action (frantic like any good twin stick shooter), puzzles (just clever stuff), and platforming (lots of bottomless pits) that the lines between them all become blurred. Almost a genre unto itself. The best part is playing with someone else. It’s so cool how working with another person will yield interesting results. I’ve only scratched the surface of what this game has to offer but it’s clear after the first level that it does not disappoint. Probably worth more than 1200 points.
In my conclusion this has been a solid Summer of Arcade. Nothing out right sucked like how it did last year with TMNT (asshole Ubisoft!). There is great fun to be had in all five titles and everyone can find at least three to buy (so you can get that 400 points back!). If I only could recommend three it would be Lara, Monday Night, and Limbo.
Next week…
Getting bloody with Shank!
Finally getting to take on the world with Scott Pilgrim!
Watch me say good bye to $30 in less than 10 seconds!
Costume Quest looks awesome. It’s comes across like Kid Chameleon mixed with the Penny Arcade games or something.
Adding it to my list of games to keep an eye on for sure.
