Yeah I know what some of you might be thinking, $15 each. I think that Limbo might be suspect but the others seem like $15 games to me. Especially Tomb Raider and Monday Night Combat. Like last year though…
It’s strange…I consider Borderlands to be rather boring in single player, but it does a complete 180 and becomes good once you factor in the co-op experience with friends…plus I usually have custom soundtrack going on to spice things up, and it’s great fun. I haven’t played with people in quite awhile though… I still haven’t finished the 2 DLC packs yet (I bought Mad Moxxi and that Zombie Island one…I’ll still get General Knoxx later.)
The DLC fixes the lack of enemy variety as well. It’s odd to me how this game is such a mixed bag. Overall, I’d say the good outweighs the bad.
…and Brick is clearly the star of the show as far as I’m concerned. It’s almost like Brock Samson in game form. People actually burst into flames when I punch them with his Berserk power, all while Brick screams and laughs like a madman. If that doesn’t spell ‘awesome’ then I don’t know what to tell ya. Brick might just be the best “tank” character of all time. This dude is the Juggernaut on magical steroids and PCP.
Summer of Arcade EVERYTHING is 1200 points, oh I’m so surprised.
That old addiction came back strong with the sequel…tonight was my first 5 hours of Crackdown 2, and I am hooked again, at least for awhile. I already have over half the total amount of agility orbs(500 total…I’ve found 267 or so) in the game. I was like a crack-fiend for those damn orbs. I’ve only found about 30something hidden ones though. There’s also 30 total “rogue” agility orbs…I can’t remember the # there but I’ve managed to catch a few of those too.
hell yeah…level 4 agility… I think I’m at level 4 strength as well, and probably level 3 firearms.
They should just make a game where you do nothing but hunt upgrades like in crackdown. I recently picked up the first one to mess around with and that orb hunting really brings out the ocd.
My Crackdown 2 arrived today a day early. I was ready to hate it after reading the average reviews, but as soon as I started hunting those agility orbs I was hooked again.
Also Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge Special Edition is out on Xbox Live today. Just picked it up there. A few beers + nostalgia can’t be beaten.
cheh, I’m at 365 or so agility orbs now…also helped a friend take over the last few of the tactical locations last night (unfortunately this only counted in his campaign though, which is annoying to say the least. I’ll have to do all that over again in MY campaign later)…the one on Hope Tower pissed me off at first, but it’s possible.
Agility 5 and Strength 5! I got my wingsuit and the ground-smash. YES. Skills for kills, Agent.
It’s sad that there isn’t much to this game though…it looks like the only major things are killing the Cell group and killing the mutant freaks. This makes part 1 seem more varied since you were killing different groups of people at least back then…now it’s just 1 particular terrorist group and the Freaks Come Out at Night.
Crackdown 2 is a disapointment in the sense that this feels like an expansion pack rather than a new game. You don’t even get more colors or faces to choose from besides the base 4. That’s just lazy. Cd2 is definetly fun with people, but if you’re doing single player it’s almost a complete repeat of crackdown 1 with zombies. The mission structure in 1 was considerably better.
And your cars don’t transform. WTF. That shit was cool as fuck!

Exactly what I said to a friend when we were playing co-op.
I got a DLC Code with my game and I get 4 extra colours so it isn’t too bad. Something like Gold, Xbox Green, Black and another colour I forget. I also wish there were more factions in the game rather than just Cell and dealing with the Freaks, but then again I guess that would have been too much like the first.
Co-op is good fun, but I wish there was a way for the progress you make in a friends game to transfer to yours. Progress you make with your skills is transferable, but you could detonate 4 or 5 beacons then head back into your game and you have it all to do again.
oh hell yeah, Im interested in Vanquish. They showed some of the footage on G4’s coverage of E3. Third-person perspective + tons of flashy action + bullet time shenanigans…yeah, it caught my attention immediately. Those are some of the quality ingredients I like to see in games today.
*I also miss the transforming vehicles from the first Crackdown. I remember one of the cars was like the Batmobile…heh, this makes me want to play part 1 again. Oooh…and there was the monster truck that could jump… I think the truck is still in there with the jumping ability, right? Basically, it seems they’ve removed one of the few reasons to even care about driving around in part 2. Ah, and I remember the DLC came out for part 1 which added even more vehicles, the harpoon gun and some other things like optical “Predator” camouflage if I recall, and other new agency “toys”. It was probably the first DLC I felt was worth the money.
*I think Afterburner is on sale this week right? I’m really tempted to get that even though I’ve spent a bit too much money already in the past week.
I picked up afterburner and megamans 10 for the 5 dollar price, diggin on the megaman of course, as I am really a sucker for the series
Afterburner is just more one of those games like I felt like I should have more than actually playing it, I don’t get the wuss sega arcade interface they ran for a while, like the pansy confirm sounds prevalent in both this game and virtua fighter, with the same kinda fake soundin rock music that sounds like it could be in an elevator, dunno if that made any sense at all but the game is fun to have around
Yeah go buy it. It’s 400/$5. I got plenty of good time out of going STUPID FAST and shooting shit. Plus the EX Options have an old school cheat code quality to them.
It is 5/5, 10/10, *****, A+ game on the iPhone. It’s a truly wonderful game and is an different league than Space Invaders Extreme which is more like Space Invaders than this. The iPhone version, outside of the main game and all it’s extra levels, can generate new levels from the music on the phone. I am going to assume that the console version will have this capability as well. The 3D stuff in here looks cool and it’s nice to see Infinity Gene’s enemies and bosses return as well but there looks to be plenty of new console only bosses and enemies to differentiate it from the iPhone game. I hope it comes out right after the Summer of Arcade.
