Xbox 360 Elite: DVI Computer Monitor; How?

I wanted to bring my xbox to the local gatherings in my city, but I don’t have an HDMI monitor. My monitor has VGA and DVI Video input only.

Can I get away with just my HDMI cable and a HDMI(female) to DVI(male) adapter?

I can’t recall, but I think there is some kind of optical (S/PDIF) out I can use for sound as well.

Female HDMI to Male DVI works for me, using a 2008 HDMI Arcade system. I use the standard RCA cable for audio, but I had to pop the plastic cable housing apart so that it doesn’t block the HDMI slot on the back of the 360.
