X-Men: First Class movie

First Spiderman was better.

I heard there was something after the credits from a few friends…

Get off DK nuts…honestly…please do, it isn’t GOAT and gets way mor credit than it deserves. (drops topic)

This, a thousand times this.

Most overrated movie since 300

But its cut from a completley different cloth than something like Xmen. TDK was well…dark…and meant to be somewhat realistic as well as dwelve into the psyche of a singular person. It was NOT meant to be a comic book movie from the flashy mutant powered angle, thats whats always seperated Batman from Superman so to speak - so its an improper comparison in this case. If you want to compare TDK to the new Spiderman go right on ahead…they are cut from similar clothes. But Xmen? Nah. As well this isn’t a situation where you should like a movie less because of another movie. If you think its average - thats fine, but really TDK has no real barring on this movie outside of being ‘loosely’ based on a comic book series. But hey, 300 was based on a comic, so was Watchmen (compare TDK to that). Sin City? Conan The Barbarian? Those movies all suck because of TDK according to the logic used in the aforementioned post. I’ve got a bone to pick with that. If its a bad movie its a bad movie (Wolverine) if its a good movie its a good movie (X2)…TDK means nothing in those regards.

EDIT - topic dropped again, I’ve said TDK way too many times over the past 4 days. It was a good movie, nothing more nothing less. Came out like 3 years ago and has no barring on me feeling X1/2 was one of the best movies so far this year and di dd a great job as a fresh look on the X series, couldn’t ask for more than a better looking Beast smh or I don’t feel like using spoiler tags - but a better last ‘fight’ when looking at what the guy was capable of.

Some quick thoughts:

U can see how this started as a magneto movie. The first X-Men SUCKED. Pretty much just get fucked up, and leave the audience waiting for Mags to show up.

I didn’t like the guy who played Xavier, but Mags and Shaw were great. Emma frost sucked too. Who was the tornado guy?

End battle with Shaw was way too anti climatic. He never REALLY got a chance to showcase his powers either.

They really fucked up Mystique. I ended up more disappointed about that than the Havok shit.

Overall not a bad movie, but I’m glad I didn’t pay to see it

FYI I guessed about Darwin anyways (happened in comics). Cameo was meh

I actually liked Xavier’s casting…one of my favorite castings of all.

I kind of wish they had more time to flesh out Magneto/Prof X becoming friends…it works how they did it, but its an important dynamic in the long run. It doesn’t make sense IMO why Magneto cares for Prof X so much.

Magneto’s scorpion knife trick was look whoa though…

I agree…they only really seemed to be friends for a retardedly short amount of time. This movie reminded me a lot of Wolverine…too rushed

Magneto’s scorpion knife trick was look whoa though…

Yo guys have it all twisted.

From DAY ONE they’ve been fucking up storylines. Like the True XMEN first Class…or wasting characters like Colossus etc…

And not to mention Spidey fuck ups (Bens a COP, Spidey doesnt have WEB inside of him, etc…)

Every last comic book movie you can think of they’ve fucked up the story, in order to make a “Movie”…I’m sure this movie is no different. The fact thats it getting critically acclaimed just shows how bad it really must be for a Comic Book/Xmen fan.

And dont get it twisted. BLADE is the BEST comic book movie. Period. Honourable mention to Spawn…

Black Panther, Luke Cage and the solo Storm movies will give them a run for their money!

I’ve been hating on this film since the first day I heard First Class wouldn’t include the original roster. As an X-Men fan since the early 80’s (stopped reading around Uncanny #350), I have to say they did a pretty good job on this movie. I was hoping for a full reboot instead of a pre-boot, but I thought this movie was pretty good. Easily better than any of the other X-films, that’s for sure.

They nailed Xavier and Magneto’s in terms of casting. The chick who played Mystique is fucking sexy. Bacon played a convincing Sebastian Shaw but Magneto’s helmet on him looks ridiculous, although I can appreciate the helmet’s film origin.

Finally a good X-film from FOX. Not better than Thor though.

This movie shits on all the other xmens for free. Not even close.

Honestly, until you can disconnect comic book canon from ‘whats shown in other mediums’ - you just won’t enjoy the movies. I’ve seperated them completley at this point and more so give a nod of appreciation when they DO tap something from canon than get upset that they aren’t rehashing storylines I already know (which is why the ‘first’ movie in most of the comic book movies are boring as shit to me ass I don’t care about already established origins…which might be why I liked this one…it wasn’t ‘known’ in its current form, so it was simply enjoyable).

I cant recall having such a big smile on my face in an X-film since X2.
Overall Id have to give it a 8.5 and say its the second best in the franchise.

McAvoy was the heart and Fassbender the balls lol…

[details=Spoiler]My fav scene was actually the death of shaw. Loved how it was tied to the death of Eriks mom and how Erik floated him out like a crucified Jesus.

The paralysis scene was heart wrenching too. I had this vibe from the 86 Transformers movie

–I was unconvinced by Angel switching to the Hellfire club . It seemed random.
Also, Moira felt underused esp in the middle of the film. I wish the romantic relationship with charles had been in there. also I would have though that if that was in the film, she could have hinted towards either staying with Charles to run the school or become a scientist.

–In terms of action scenes, the Argentina scenes, Azazel at CIA,and Banshee/Angel dogfight were great. Xaviers zoom in effect when using his powers and Erik owning with barb wire, pulling the guys tooth were really cool.[/details]

Riptide, a minor villain (He was one of Sinister’s marauders. He usually had white hair and a purple costume. He also had the power to throw shurikensmade of bone from him as he spins, but I guess they felt like keeping it simple lol

The only reason why Blade did as well as it did was because no one knew jack shit about the character and he was barely a blip on the Marvel radar. And LOL at Spawn getting an honorable mention. Maybe visually to an extent Spawn was good but i wouldn’t put it the category of a good comic movie.

@dangerousJ:

Azazel at CIA was really awesome lol.

I also found Angels switch to be just plain dumb… Unbelievable and random

Still pissed that Shaw goes out like a bitch, then magneto apparently x factors or some shit and can do EVERYTHING

Spawn was black though. 2ND BEST SUPER HERO MOVIE EVER. 3RD IS STEEL.

I can still enjoy these movies, relatively, I’ve abandoned trying to hope they’re true to the Story a long time ago…

Spawn was good because it actually FELT like a Comic Book movie, with Split Screens Cells and stuff…

I mean I didnt even see X3 in its entirety, I didnt see Wolverine Origins yet…All this X stuff might as well me a parallel Universe (Nvm they did that With Ultimate Xmen…etc)

sigh…I’ll see it tomorrow no doubt…but will Likely be packed…Tuesday Deals are like that…

This is easily the best of X-Men movies, which really isn’t saying much, but I enjoyed it.

The movie would’ve benefited more if it had less characters, and more emphasis on Magneto/Xavier’s friendship.
